Devi gave Captain Burke a wink and the rest of his guards a wave and a bow. She felt she owed it to them. For...keeping the town safe. Or something. Maybe she just wanted to wink and wave and bow. Devi wasn't that deep of a person. Some things she just does because she feels like it. Like follow Mister Moneybags when she could just log out and come back much later.

"Your call, boss. As long as you're paying."

She has slept in an inn before, having been curious enough to try it. Wasn't that bad. Wasn't that good, either. Still, she was curious about her companion, and wildly impressed by his wealth, so she felt like following him. For now. Or at least until his money ran out.

"How long have you been playing this game, by the way? Seems to me you've done good for yourself here, what with your businesses and stuff. How long did that take? Can't be that easy, I think?"

Devi's curiosity was piqued, though what she'd do with all that information, all those answers from @Chrys, she wouldn't know. Probably forget about them. She wasn't going to spend all her gaming time building businesses and stuff. She was going to spend it fighting things. If she earns a lot of money, cool. As long as she gets to punch things or set them aflame. That's what's more important to her.

Chrystopheles had to smirk at that comment. It wasn't anything he's never heard before, but coming from @Devi? The tease was well worth his amusement.

"Don't I always?"

As they continued making their way out of the residence of the baker's daughter, the massive mountain man began to think of the fiery fighter's question. How long has he been playing the game? And has he even made any progress with regard to the reason he started playing in the first place? The sigh he heaved seemed to say otherwise, no matter how positively he wanted to spin things.

"Long enough, I suppose. Nothing's ever easy. Everything we have, we work hard for. Just because it may not look like it for me, doesn't mean it wasn't hard for you, and vice versa."

Chrystopheles stole a glance at the horizon. The sun was setting. Their time was coming to a close. Sooner or later, everything ends eventually. Where would he be when his sun set? Would he have made enough progress by then? Would he be glad of where he is, how he got there, and who he was with? Looking at Devi, he grinned. Of course.

The fiery fighter raised an eyebrow at @Chrys' snide remark. It was true, she supposed, that he would always be the one to pay for most things, but who else? He had his own business and was making pretty good money on the side. At least that's what she thought. In the real world, he'd be someone she'd befriend just to pay for all the snacks, too.

"Fair, fair! Everyone has their own struggles. Everyone has their own pace. No use comparing stuff like that."

Of course, Devi didn't always believe that. It was hard to, considering she wasn't privy to the different strokes different folks lived their life. What was easier was to believe everyone else shared the same pace, the same struggles. Equality, which isn't that good compared to equity. But she digressed. Fact was, it was a constant work in progress, like she was, like everyone was, something that won't end until the final episode.

"Wait, you're getting us separate rooms, right?"

It was an unnecessary question but she just had to make sure. Come to think of it, she wouldn't mind otherwise, but she just wanted her curiosity to be satiated. Still beats living on the outside with the raw elements. Doesn't really do great for her skin.

Chrystopheles simply smiled when @Devi agreed with his sentiment. After all, it meant they were on the same page and that they had something in common, which is always a good thing when you're trying to build allies and strengthen relationships with friends and comrades. Devi was definitely someone Chrys wanted on his side, maybe even his payroll, even though she was as unpredictable as they came. Then again, she was a pyromancer, so maybe that came with the element?

Soon, they managed to end up in front of a quaint inn in town, a cozy and homey tiny thing with a wooden oak door, an equally wooden oak sign, and friendly windows not unlike that of any other homes there. If Chrys remembered correctly, this place was actually a home in itself before the improvements to make it more of a home, a home within a home. Or something along those lines.

"Of course, I'm getting us separate rooms. I can afford it."

Chrys stood in front of the door. He clasped his hands behind him after gesturing for Devi to go in first. Then a wild thought crossed his mind, and he couldn't help but make the joke, an eyebrow raised to emphasize the nature of the tease.

"...unless?"

What did he mean by that? Nothing deep. He still intended to get them separate rooms. However, an option to procure a single room but bigger, with two beds, was also on the table. It all depended on what Devi wanted. He was still trying to weasel his way into her good graces, after all. Something that was maybe unnecessary.

...and there it was. Of course, it would come to his mind. @Chrys was a man, after all, and men just can't help themselves. It's not all his fault either. Devi was just...too hot to ignore. In this world and their real one. But she wasn't new to this. She's experienced this before. So many times. She already has a plan against it, a course of action that never failed her.

"Unless? You really want to tempt fate, Chrys? Because, you know, I do love a fight, and if you want to, uhh, share a room with me, then you'd have to beat me in a fight first."

Okay, maybe that was a bad idea, considering this wasn't the real world. This was a game world, and Chrys was clearly much stronger than her. But she wasn't going to go down without a fight. Outside, she could easily beat him. No doubt about that. Devi made a career of beating down stronger and faster fighters. In here, though? Well, rocks beat fire most of the time, so she'll have to see. Or maybe she won't.

"...or are you just being cheap, man? You can afford two separate rooms, right? Why just get one if you're that rich? Hmm?"

Sometimes a physical fight would be made unnecessary if you were on the right side of logic. Or at least that's what the ideal scenario was. Most of the time, people get madder when they get beaten by logic, leading to more physical fights. People are dumb as heck sometimes.

Chrystopheles took a moment, a look of disgust on his face, as he also took a step back, clearly offended at what @Devi was implying. A random old man walked out from the front doors of the quaint inn that they were in front of. The random cameo took a long look at them, shook his head, and brought his white hood over his head, as if dismayed at what the Players have become. Chrys, however, was oblivious to that unsolicited judgment. It was not the time for throwing bowls of hot curry in people's faces.

"How dare you, madam?!" Chrys spoke in an exaggerated British accent. For some reason. "How dare you accuse me of such a thing?! Of course, I can afford two rooms! Harrumph!"

Chrys was many things but cheap? Of course, he was also cheap, but that did not mean he liked being called such in such a public place. Stomping inside the inn, he headed straight for the counter and asked for two rooms. Once he got his key, he made another exaggerated harrumph at Devi and proceeded to stomp toward his room on the second floor.

"Cheap?! Psh! I never! I'd like to fight you privately, sure, but I'm not cheap!"

He continued mumbling to himself as he went, then disappeared inside his room. From the outside, he could still be heard mumbling and harrumphing, his feelings clearly hurt, his ego shattered, his wallet still fat as fuck, though. Can't lose them all.

Devi simply rolled her eyes, arms crossing themselves over her chest. There it was, his natural accent seeping through. Or was it something else? Something...theatrical? Devi chuckled, thinking it was funny. How could he find offense to an every-day concern for women? Ah, right. He's a man.

"That's what you find offensive? Ha! You're a weird guy, Chrys!"

She slapped @Chrys on the back. Hard. When he stomped inside the inn, she simply followed suit. Calmly. A grin still on her face. The woman at the counter was relatively confused by the man's demeanor. Devi could do nothing but reassure her with a shrug and a shake of her head, a gesture signifying that it was nothing she could not handle, nothing the innkeeper should worry about.

As she passed his room, his door already closed, she shook her head again, still smirking. The man was an actor all right. He knew his timing, his lines, his quips... The fiery fighter was amused by all that and more. Perhaps too amused. Her hand was already on her own door's knob when she stole another glimpse at Chrys' door. Eh, what the heck, hm?

"Hey, rich guy! Open up! Let's fight privately."

Devi laughed as she entered Chrys' room instead, most likely surprising him. It was an interesting day no less. Why end it with bruised egos when you can bruise each other physically? That's the only way she liked it. Punching her palm, she was going to share that POV with him. Whether he liked it or not. Heck, he'll probably like it. They all do.
