Lake Horatio

At the edge of Lake Horatio, sat a silver-haired girl in a jacket that looked just like a plane. She was focused hard on a specific menu, though aside from the obvious gestures she was making in midair, it was invisible to the outside world.

And if I change the hair like this... oh wow, she actually looks just like a helicopter... girl...... kinda.

Staring long and hard at the character creation screen shown only to her, Tris finally hit the CONFIRM button, and a shimmering light spawned in front of her. Moments later, the summon she'd created stepped out of the light and into the real, digital world.

Hello summoner! I'm... uhm...

(She paused.)

Pssst, uhm... summoner, I think you forgot to give me a name.

Oh. Uhm... We'll go with the number theme and call you Una, I guess.

Hello summoner! I'm Una, your new, personal, aerial-magitech servant~! Nice to meet you.

... Stop looking at me like that, you're freakishly realistic!

Uhm... o-okay then. Right away, Summoner Tristaria!

The girl spun around and stared out away from the lake, still appearing super happy just to be alive. Tris went back to the screen to read up on her summon's statistics when Una noticed something...

Summoner Tristaria! There's a person coming from over that hill!

What...?

Tris glanced up from her screen.

"Una's a neat name, almost went with that myself. So is that your thing, you make people?"

Laylabelle asked, coming through a bush from the complete opposite direction from where the two were looking. She arrived as if it were perfectly natural, except, of course, it was anything but. Covered in twigs and with leaves in her hair, Laylabelle continued her unintentionally gaslight-like introduction without missing a beat.

"I'm a bit of a magicrafter myself, so that's pretty interesting! Oh were you expecting company?"

Laylabelle squinted over the hill at an approach figure whose features were a bit obscured by sunlight.

"I'd say I'd come back later but I don't think you'd be here, so they can wait their turn, I got here first after all~ ooooh what's this? Interesting~ Interesting~"

Laylabelle said, attempting to poke Tristaria's magia antennae.

"Hhmm hmm, yup I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before, and trust me, I am a very wise witch. Could you be item people? You're item people aren't you? Could I fit you in my inventory? If I had an item person that made more I'd have an army before long, and just think! We'd be living fancy in no time! I've heard Weapon Arts could give you some crazy stuff, and now I'm pretty dang interested! So where's your owner, or are you a rare find? Finders keepers, right? Do you think I could equip you instead? Whaddya say Weapon Arts girl? Here, climb in."

Laylabelle lowered her shoulder satchel and opened it. Looking at Tristaria expectantly.

Lake Horatio

Uwaaa~!

Una leapt several meters into the air: a downright impossible leap aided by a large propeller on the top of her head. She swiveled around to meet the new voice as she slowly lowered back down to the ground.

Tris, on the other hand, didn’t even blink as she turned to face the new arrival. She opened her mouth to answer and closed it again as she was robbed the opportunity.

What are you doing…?

Narrowing her eyes slightly, Tristaria attempted to swat the girl’s hand away as she started randomly poking her "magia parts." To her dismay, her own summon wandered over to join the strange witch, leaving her to stand there unamused as her antennae were poked on both sides

Summoner, can I have antenna too? We could share secrets with them~

No, your propeller would—

She had no time to finish the answer, as the witch… well… Tris honestly had no idea how to even describe that train of thought. Staring into the satchel for a brief moment, she raised an eyebrow, then turned to leave.

Riiight. Anyway, I have to figure out how this summoning thing works, so…

Briefly, Una waved with a smile, before she winked out of existence. A moment later, and Tristaria took off into the sky with a gust of air magic, flying off to…

Solvale

Tris took a seat on the soft grass of Solvale’s breath-taking plains. It was a vast field of green, overlooking sparkling rivers, and the capitol of Astorea itself. Thankfully, said capitol was a fair distance away, and as far as she could tell, there was nothing of real interest here. A good place to be alone, enjoy the nice cool breeze, and learn the ins-and-outs of summoning.

Tris opened up her menu again and glanced over the summon stat customization screen. It was surprisingly detailed, and allowed her to allocate a certain amount of "Competence points" to Una.

Okay, so… intelligence: not interested. Charisma… maybe a little bit, or things might get awkward…

"NooooOoooOOOooOOOoo~ Bring me back my Weapon Arts daughterrrrrrrr~!"

Laylabelle shouted vainly to the sky as Tristaria took to it. The witch was left with the bag, literally, but no precious little robot dolls to occupy it. What. A. Loss. And yet, Laylabelle did not lose hope. She was drowning in a personal delusion of it.

"I see, so this must be like one of those find-it events where you have to find something a lot of times, of course, It's hard to fight destiny so heh hehn~ looks like it's a just a battle of wits and endurance, both of which I've probably got in spades."

"Just you wait!"
Laylabelle put her hands on her hips feeling just a little excited. More than a little, actually.

***

It was a journey, not a Hylands tier journey, but Laylabelle couldn't move as the bird flys. Even so, Laylabelle was an experienced walker and she had a mission. In time, she would find her new best friend once more.

"Nuh uh~ that won't do~ my little Una is cute as a button, max out that Charisma~!"

Laylabelle pointed into the air missing the space where the U.I. would be for her now-appointed baby daughter's stats.

"You can dump the int. I'm wise as a button and I'll raise her just fine regardless."

Laylabelle nodded, more serious than anything else she's ever been in life. "My name's Laylabelle, little Una should know who her mama is, that's very very important! Who are you by the way people maker person? I'd be a little worried that I'm bothering you, but if it's for the sake of my daughter, a mama's gotta step up to the plate you know~? Besides, I can tell, you just love to chat don'tcha? You're a real people person, otherwise why would you bother making them~?"

Solvale

Tris nearly jumped at the sound of the voice coming up from behind. Turning, she saw the same witch from before. So she was headed this same way? Huh. Crazy coincidence. Maybe not that much of a coincidence, though: after all, Finweald was right ahead, and it was kinda "Destination #1" around Astorea.

What...?

Who even was this lady witch who'd suddenly taken custody of her summon!?

Oh.

Laylabelle...

She repeated the name like a mother sighs a name after a kid misbehaves. This lady's imagination outdid even most children, actually.

I'm Tristaria... I guess "Tris" would be easier to say, though. And what do you mean little? She's taller than you are... if you count the propellers...

Just to make the comparison, Tris went ahead and created another summoning circle, out of which Una stepped out once more.

Hello again, Summoner Tri--

--Yes yes, hello. Stand next to this witch lady for a moment.

Right away, Summoner Tristaria!

Standing next to Laylabelle, it was... questionable who was actually taller. They looked about the same height, but there were two sharp slices of hair resembling propellers on top of Una's head, where Laylabelle boosted her own height with the large hat.

Is this your friend? She looks friendly~!

I don't have friends. Speaking of which, we should be moving on...

Dismissing Una before she had the chance to protest, Tris flew off toward Finweald.

Finweald

If a secluded place couldn't bring Tristaria privacy, perhaps a busy one could! Finweald was a sprawling city, which meant, in theory, that there should be plenty of secluded corners to hide away in.

Soon enough, Tris came across the perfect spot! A little patch of grassy ground underneath a bridge shielded her from the sight of the world above, allowing her to resummon Una in peace.

Okay, zero charisma... let's see what you sound like now?

Eugh, whatever. Stupid summoners, all entitled. What makes you think you can play with our minds like some kiddie toy...!?

... Right, high charisma it is then.

She dismissed Una, turned the slider back up, then resummoned her again.

Uhm... Summoner Tristaria, can you maybe make up your mind? Having your personality pulled around like this is... well... kind of disturbing...

I'm almost done, and quit complaining before someone hears you.

Right away, Summoner Tristaria~!

Shhh! Okay, let's boost your intelligence a bit, because this is just ridiculous...

Oh, someone heard alright. It was the lovey dovey terminator from the planet cloud9. Only, made of flesh and twice as persistent. Laylabelle was once again back on the scene. She came out of a bush much like before.

"Haaay, funny coincidence, oh just kidding, a mama could find their baby anywhere, it's just INSTINCT like ULTRA INSTINCT, I could just feel it. Hey Una sweetie, is Tris treating you alright?"

Laylabelle beamed as she waved at Trist. Next to Laylabelle and in her hands as she was wheeling it over was... a bicycle? Now where the hell had she managed to find that?

"I mean I get little Una on the weekends right, weren't those the court orders honey?"

Laylabelle smiled at Tris and soon enough was locked back on to "little" Una.

"And I will have you know I'm just a litttle bit taller, you see, we witches measure by the hat. My little Una still has some growing to do, and when I'm old and shrunk, she can fly me around the world, hehe~"

Laylabelle placed a hand on her cheek and shook her head.

"But for now, I brought a fun present! Come one Una let's teach you to ride a bicycle! I found at it this place called MTI or something! Isn't that neat? It was just laying there so I'm sure it's fine that I borrowed it. I even left a note, because I am very very responsible. You want to ride right? Play with the other kids in the neighborhood? Or do you prefer batball as they call it here. I've heard the pretty princess plays it and she is VERY COOL. Right? YOU'VE GOTTA OUTDO HER, Let's play Una, yay~!"

Laylabelle didn't possess the corruption mastery. No, there was nothing for it to alter. She was already chaos itself.

Finweald

Gah!

Tris jumped in surprise as the familiar face poked out of the bushes. Unbelievable! There was absolutely no way this lady wasn't following her... right!? Throwing her a slightly-less-amused-than-normal glance, Tris waited for her to take the hint (which absolutely didn't seem to be happening), while Una was more than thrilled to see her again.

Mommy Laylabelle!

You must be joking...

I haven't been around very long, but Summoner Tristaria is the best out of the one summoners I've ever met!

It sounded like a joke, but Una appeared to seriously believe it was a compliment. Minimum int indeed.

Bicycle! It looks so strange... can I ride? Oooo, Mommy Laylabelle, I bet we can make it fly if I swing my propeller hard enough!

Tris simply glanced between Una and Laylabelle for a few moments, before shaking her head and dismissing Una. Unlike before, she actually looked a bit irritated.

I get that this is all a game to you, but you'd be better off if you just left this world and never came back. I admit Terrasphere is very impressive, but don't get too attached, or one day you might end up dead, just like my best friend.

Without leaving any time for an answer, Tristaria took to the skies once again...

And so Tristaria traveled. Across the hills of Solvale. Around the magitech-sentried ghost town of Vintergard. Across the wastelands of High March. Quickly losing energy, she was forced to travel on foot before too long. After a short rest, she pressed on...

Tertus Valley

A distance, quiet land, floating above the deep canyon, and surrounded by the giant forcefield. This was about as far from Astorea as she could reasonably get without entering dangerous, uncharted territory. There was absolutely, positively no way that witch lady would ever be willing to follow her this far!

She summoned Una again.

Okay, on the way here, I selected several skills for you, so you should be able to... say... control a bunch of drones?

Una didn't respond right away, glancing around and taking in the surroundings, then her summoner, who still looked a bit agitated.

Summoner Tristaria... do you hate Mommy Laylabelle...?

What? No. Why would you say that?

It's just you're trying really hard to get away from her, so...

... I just hate this game, so role players like that irk me a bit.

But you spent a lot of time tweaking me to be just right, didn't you?

... Just show me if you can summon the drones.

(OOC note: We can end it here if Laylabelle doesn't want to follow her that far; or not! Your choice :))

"Ah~"

Laylabelle watched Tristaria take off into the sky once more. But, this time the witch, no ranger now was strangely quiet. There layed the bike that she should probably hurry and get back to returning. It was on its side and sadly quiet as the cool wind blew to brush the grass around it.

"But real life can be fun too, you know...?"

She muttered to no one. Maybe she'd crossed a line, she considered, but maybe some lines needed to be crossed.

"..."

Laylabelle righted the bike.

"I'd better get this back."

Laylabelle continued to be uncharacteristically somber as she pushed the janky but functioning wheeled contraption. It was surely built with a lot of care, even by a novice. This bike clearly symbolized something. It wasn't a weapon of war, it was a tool of conveyance, and a tool for fun. Someone had made this to make life better.

Laylabelle glanced up at the horizon and felt a tug of fate's thread.

"Not yet."

She shook her head.

"But soon~ you can't keep my baby from me for long Tris~ hehehe~"

Laylabelle didn't ride the bike but continued to push it back, there, she would receive a pretty faint-hearted scolding from a short elf named Elynn. Smiling and clapping her hands together, Laylabelle repented, thinking----

"----people live here too ya know~? And, not us weirdos, people-people, I wonder if I can show Tris-papa that."

(OOC: this is probably a good stopping point or we'll be going until Terrasphere 3, XD. Good thread, let's pick it up again later! Thanks for the thread I had fun <3 UNNNNNAAAAAAAAA!)
