Mood: Confusion

The sound of blaring alarms reverberated throughout the compound as researchers and lab grunts were forcibly evicted from their restless slumber to deal with a situation. When one proudly flashes the armband of an eccentric group so heavily entrenched in the dangers of the unknown, sleep is a rare commodity - especially now that said group houses the Mother of Machine that nearly accomplished her goal a couple of months ago.

"Hey! What's going on?" a ponytailed lab muscle shouted at a panicking man in a lab coat wrapping around his lanky body.

"I-I don't know! The flashing red light means its the Level-V Containment" he responded, seemingly even more in a panic after being spoken to.

"What?! Even I don't have the clearance for that!" she exclaimed in disbelief.

"W-w-what are we gonna do? If it's Szofrit w-waking up now, we're completely d-done for... She's literally sitting on a gold mine in energy... W-why did we end up housing her here of all places?!" he dug into his messy black hair and ruffled it up in a panic.

"Hey, calm down. If you don't have the clearance to go down there then follow your training and evacuate at once. Alert all the high-ranking Fixers and contractors you pass by and send them down, alright? Go!" she shouted at the labcoat as she hobbled down the hall while pulling the boot up one knee. "Come on, I've literally only gotten 3 hours after the chem-leak yesterday."

The woman stopped briefly as if to re-evaluate herself and the situation, all the while warding off the drowsiness that has been embedded into her old, tired bones.

"AAARGH! Just a bit more and I'll finally have my Level-V Clearance. Come on Clarissa, you can do this!!!" After the brief pep talk, the half-delirious fixer clapped her cheeks with her palms before she headed to the door at the end of the hallway.

. . .

What awaited Clarissa was pure chaos one floor down. There were MIT personnel and fixers every which way, frantically shouting at each other. Before she tried to force her way into the heated conversation, she recognized a familiar face and immediately reached out for him.

"Sven! Why is everyone just standing around?" she asked.

The bespectacled youth turned toward Clarissa with a surprised expression on his face before he snapped out of it and responded, "Energy surges closed the central stairwell and random doors. Everyone's panicking because they are A. separated and B. unable to communicate. Does that sound familiar?"

"S-shit... you don't think?"
Clarissa covered her mouth as cold sweat rolled down the large expanse of her forehead.

"I don't know, but I wouldn't doubt it. Maybe an enemy infiltrated MITHRA and woke her up. Maybe it's a contractor who shouldn't be there in the first place, I honestly don't know. I did tell the committee to be stricter with who they give out the Level-V Clearance to months ago, but they were so insistent on making progress with Szofrit to justify the danger of housing her here. Dammit, if they were going to do that anyways, why didn't I get the Level-V Clearance? I was so close to it all. Imbecile bah!" Sven gritted his teeth.

Clarissa gave Sven a firm pat on the back, "Maybe you should count your luck because if you're one of the poor saps stuck down there with that monster... Positive thinking, right?"

"Maybe some of us wants to be stuck down there with that monster,"
he huffed.

"You goddamn nerd. Anyways, I'm a Level-IV Techie, so I have to get down there anyways, you with me?" Clarissa asked. Even if Sven is weird, he knows his way around MITHRA and would be a great way for her to get to where she needs to be.

"I know an alternative way down, come."
Sven gestured for the woman to follow him.

Rules
  • This is a megathread so all megathread rules apply.
  • Up to 2 characters per OOC account may participate in the event.
  • Make up to 2 replies per character per cycle: 1 with roll and the other for roleplaying.
  • Max word count is 500 words excluding BBcodes.
  • If you would like to take a personal moment with others, branch off via a private thread in the regular forum.
  • Any communication can be done either by making a private comms thread or posting in the event's official comms thread.
Setup
  • You are somewhere within the MITHRA, which is divided into 5 expansive levels (floor). They are labeled starting from ground level and counting downward: 0 (ground floor), 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
  • The MITHRA has both above-ground floors and underground floors. The underground portion was constructed with heavily reinforce metal and stone for security. All five floors are built in a cylindrical shape around the Central Stairwell (called the Spine). There are research facility, lounges, lodging and other faculties on each floor. Although the fastest way to move between the levels is through the Spine, it also comes with the most intricate of security measures.
  • The Spine is completely impenetrable so you have to find alternative ways to get down.
  • There are hidden hazards or obstacles that may hinder the group's progress.
Objective: Get to the bottom of this. Enter the Containment Zone (Level-V) and figure out what is happening

Mechanics
You may add to the group's progress to reach Level-5 through a number of actions. You may optionally roll a 1d5 (?r 1d5 # Name | Starting Floor) to determine your initial placement (1 = ground floor, 2 = Level-I, 3 = Level-II, 4 = Level-III, 5 = Level-IV).

Make an expertise check or a mastery check and flavor your action accordingly.

If you are making a mastery check, you may add an extra 1d100 circumstantial bonus or if you have a secondary mastery at the same rank as the mastery you are using to roll with. Those with the Fixer title gain a +25 bonus to their roll.

Examples:
  • Breaking down doors or obstacles in the way
  • Navigating through the floor
  • Rescuing people trapped on specific floor or room
  • Contain disasters that are happening because of the energy surges: fire and electrical hazards, haywire machinery, collapsed wall or damaged structure as people force their way down to level-5.

Her hunch told her the culprit is exactly who she feared it would be. At least the panicking bodies trying to hurry and deal with a situation that far surpassed either clearance or experience, and the ones who couldn't were only dead weight- Useful dead weight, at the very least. Hysteria made it easier to run past and snatch an armband to work as a disguise- Were this emergency related to Szofrit or not, it made no difference to her.

The white labcoat and scientist-part didn't fit her style at all, but the getup worked in her favour with a bit of tear and wear as she begun to bulldozer through doors and pushing past anyone standing in the way.

While one hand begun to flick across the UI, barely wasting time to find her friend list, booting up her voice mail to record a message straight for Ronja, A single line, blasting through the sound of metal falling apart and muffled voices:

"I'm in. We meet at level IV." She panted, pushing the air out of her nostrils before sending the recording.

They were always at the wrong place, at the wrong time. But there was no time to mourn the past, or think of what would happen if she didn't get to Ronja just like the last time in Finweald- Her worries ate away at her heart. A blessing and a curse, given her conviction only grew harder with every passing second she didn't have the magia near.

Where...

A dead end forced her to take a detour through a wall. The structural damage becoming apparent, but inconsequential: Just something else to punch or shove through, the runes across her arms shining on a faint vermillion tone.

Be prepared for an opposition.

The Flame's voice echoed through her mind, earning itself a frown out of the elf.

"Don't care."

The lions were meant to pull the plug should she wake up. But of course, hardly possible to trust them, or anything happening at the moment. It could be something worse. Yet it proved to be an opportunity to put an end to this circus.

"Once I take her out, they can kill me if they want."

Your Mom’s Room Ground Floor

Chrystopheles was already on his way out when the alarms started ringing. While everyone ran around the place panicking, he just stood there, an eyebrow raised. Whatever the MIT was doing in that place, he didn’t really care. All he cared about was that he and his Golden God Mining Company were getting paid for their hard work involving, you’ve guessed it, rocks. Huh. Is this place going to blow?

Some of the MIT nerds that passed him by were screaming about something he barely understood, or cared to understand, which were floor levels most likely and whatever had triggered the alarm being on the highest level, which he assumed was the lowest floor. This was a nerd lab, after all, not a high-rise luxury hotel.

Where am I again? Chrys looked around him to spot any signage that revealed the answer to his question. It didn’t take him long to find one, though he had to squint and concentrate because a few of the nerds were still running around and the lights were blinking and there was too much noise for the old man. Level…Ground Floor? That should be Level 0, right? So I’ll need to go down then. Okay.

Without further ado, the massive mountain man, the God of Rocks, began his descent toward the source of all the commotion, the hullabaloo, ignoring the headless genius chickens that ran by him and kicking doors that impeded his progress with swift and relatively effortless kicks. Clearly, Chrys never skips leg day. Nevah, nevah, nevah.

We'll just be honest, Lune knew absolutely nothing about Level-V Containment or whatever SCP term that is. But the alarm at MITHRA rang and conveniently, this was where they kept Szofrit. Was it a random energy surge? Was someone trying to wake her up? Her waking up by herself?

She's not MIT, so she was not paid to theorize.

Upon receiving intel from an insider, the wine red-haired quickly infiltrated MITHRA, and oh boy, this place was a mess. With alarms blaring, the structure that started to collapse, and random explosions, she has to quickly get to Level-V, wherever that is.

"Evacuate this place," She shouted to MIT staff that were running around in panic. "Now."

Rushing to get deeper into the facility, she brute-forced through every obstacle and locked doors to figure out what was happening. Some travelers were probably also alerted to this, as she was not the only one coming here.

If it comes to worse, this might be also an opportunity to finish the job. What people couldn't do last time they fought her.

Ground Floor

Mizuki grumbled to herself as she awaited the researcher who was supposed to meet her. She'd made a deal with the MIT that they'd keep her up to date on developments regarding Szofrit as long as she performed tasks for them, and while she'd done her fair share by delivering them specimens from Vintergard they'd been rather cagey on providing her any meaningful intel.

She'd already been waiting for well over an hour, having hoped that if she showed up in person she could at least get some updates on the situation before she logged out and went to bed. Truthfully, she was seriously considering logging out anyway: she doubted the people here would mind if the wildling just disappeared for the night.

But that was when the alarms began to scream throughout the facility, and where before everything had been peaceful (if messy) suddenly everything devolved into chaos. Researchers, fixers, and facility staff all quickly flew into a panic on a scale which left Mizuki surprised, the caenis quickly stepping backwards to avoid a collision with one muscular fixer who was running towards the staircase the entire building was built around.

Her mismatched eyes narrowed as she quickly came to a decision. A minor lab accident wouldn't cause everyone to completely lose their marbles. And given how many people were passing through the secure gates that led to the staircase...

Shit.

Spinning around on her heel the caenis flowed into action, dashing away from the central staircase and towards one of the many rooms which had been left open by a panicked researcher. A quick sniff and she located the vents, her fist turning dark red before smashing straight through the metal grate. The rest of her body turned red as well, and within moments the wildling had disappeared, a sanguine serpent slithering through the air ducts towards the depths of the facility, towards the most secure area in the entire complex where the most dangerous being was being held.

Capturing Szofrit had been a nightmarish task, and frankly, it was astounding they'd managed it. If it wasn't for MAI's involvement it wouldn't have been possible at all.

But if the MIT failed in keeping Szofrit contained they were all truly, completely screwed.

As much as Mizuki hated the idea of losing all the valuable information Szofrit's body and mind contained, that was still the better alternative to letting her escape and wreak havoc once more.

So the best she could do was try to reach the Mother of Machines's containment cell in time, and hope that she only had to help put the magia back to sleep. But if worst came to worst, she might have to put their captive down instead.

Rael leans against the back of her seat, inhaling sharply as the world returns from a blurry edge and crawls back into its axis once more, objects and passing figures no longer distorted shapes passing by the entrance to the lounging area she had been shown to. Here she rests near-daily, having offered herself as a magical conduit for the research into the Golden Egg, and here she awaits for the medicine to cure her mana sickness to kick into effect.

She is so out of it that by the end of the day's session, the red filter that colors her vision does little to alarm her. Beside her, the Seamstress takes form.

"Wake up... Come on, now! Not the time to be dooooozing off!" The blue-haired girl shakes the pinkette, expediting the process of returning to her senses by her own means. It's her anchor to the moment, to the physical world.

"Please, settle down..." But the Seamstress does not listen to her please, instead doing the opposite. Rael is pulled onto her feet, ushered outside of the resting area, and near-colliding with a fleeing researcher. Now a little bit more awake, she resist the tugging in favor of taking in her surroundings, the blaring alarm overhead no longer a fading echo at the edge of consciousness but a high-pitched screeching noise echoing down the halls of the facility.

Her casting implements appear within her hands near-instantly, the comforting weave of magic buzzing about in the form of words that glow and float around the pair of Master and Summon, the latter receiving orders to clear a path forward.

"Let it be nothing, let it be nothing...." Wishful thinking that slithers past, words that become a hum born of the tense build-up of emotions as she dashes down the hallways. A sound that falls in rhythm with the click of her heels, a melody speaking of her frustration, power that the Seamstress, in turn, siphons to empower herself and cut through any hazards present. "We were so close, so please, let it be nothing."

World's Greatest Lovers

As soon as chaos erupted in magnificent fashion, Devi's lips curled into a grin. It wasn't as much as the chaos itself, or the danger that inevitably came with it, but the prospect of having her boring enforcer/security part-time quest thing become something much more enjoyable. Okay, fine, it was the chaos and the promise of absolute destruction that excited her like the greatsword-wielding barbarian that she was. Happy?

After grabbing a hapless technician by their collar and pulling them to safety before a piece of the ceiling, the lights wasn't it?, could crush their teeny tiny head, Devi then immediately rang up her partner-in-crime, the other half of the World's Greatest Lovers , through her UI.

"Hey, darling! Where are you? Hell just broke loose up here, or maybe down here if you're above me, on Level II. Something about a Level-V Containment thing? Meet you down there? Smooches!"

Once that was taken care of, the fiery fighter loaded her biceps like good ol' Henry Cavill in that unforgettable Mission Impossible scene and went to check whatever was indeed down there, the very cause of all this. She's heard as much from one of the technicians around her, her supposed client. She was supposed to be a higher-up or something, though Devi didn't really care. She was just another payday, and all this science stuff was way above her pay grade. Time to see what all this excitement is about!

Even before the alarms rang, Aika had a feeling something was wrong. Call it a preternatural sense, maybe something like those "arachnid danger senses" in the comics, or maybe it was just her being paranoid, having been trapped inside a giant metal cage, not unlike a spider in a matchbox. Whatever it was, it sprung her into action as soon as the first thread of chaos made its much-expected appearance.

She had been walking beside @Devi, having accompanied her in her quest. Out of anything, it was boredom that spurred her arrival here. Nothing else. At least that's what she told herself. There was a part of the ravishing rogue that was curious about what was going on in this place, so when her partner informed her of the job, she couldn't really say no.

Nonchalantly walking beside Devi after gracefully pulling a different technician away from danger and toward her as if in a dance, ending the brief moment of intimacy by twirling the surprised brainiac away from the scene, Aika looked around them for anything more immediate to their concern.

"I'm right here, sweetie! Race you there?"

Finding none, she gave Devi a sly smile before dashing away, eager to win the supposed race. And maybe find out something important, something useful, under everyone else's pretty powdered noses.

"Stick together, Luthy!" Ronja warned, navigating through the maze of hallways MIT was, which was particularly tougher when panicking people were around.

Ronja released her Aid-Lings to guide the panicking people, while using the best of her memorization capabilities to keep track of where they needed to go.

The potential awakening of Szofrit was the last thing Ronja was expecting when she got to log in Terrasphere, and of course just at the time she and Fiora had come to Finweald, and just at the time she was with @Luthien to allow her to visit some of their facilities.

It was almost as if destiny wished them to face the Mother of Machines...

So it would be, because Ronja was ready, charging in rather than choosing to log off.

A quiet notification triggered Ronja's UI, showing @Fiora Di Angelo's message that quickly played into Ronja's ears, making her eyebrows raise while her eyes widened. "Nico..." She muttered, pursing her lips and taking a determined gaze to the elf blonde. "Luthy, she is here. She told Ronja to meet her at Level-IV... So Ronja will--"

Yet, before she could finish her sentence, the side of her sight spotted a familiar green hair, that made Ronja jolt and turn quickly.

"Fiora!" She called, hurrying ahead, nearly stumbling and wrapping her in a hug. "You really decided to come, didn't you..." Ronja smiled faintly, looking at her beloved.

"... Ronja do not plan to run away... If your intention is to carry her out of here." She said, with a firm voice, but a gentle gaze.

"So much for seeing more of MITHRA…"

The blaring sirens and flashing red lights had startled the ranger and caused her heart to race when they first began, the blonde glad she hadn’t been holding onto anything important at the time because it would’ve undoubtedly ended on the floor.

"Stick together, Luthy!" She’s thankful to have the brunette at her side, trusting @Ronja’s memory of the ins and outs of this place as the girls continue to make their way further. By now she’s lost count of how many Aid-Lings the magia has already deployed, a concerned glance given to her friend as she nods. "You got it—wait Ronja, not that way!"

A light sound catches her ears just as an uncomfortable stirring nestles in the pit of her stomach, her hand reaching out and grasping Ronja’s arm before janking the magia towards her before she can rush off down a hallway. The action pays off as the sound of bursting walls and bent metal reach them, visible arcs of electricity dancing around the space from whatever live line just got severed and exposed.

"Too close…"

A sigh of relief escaped her lips before her attention turns to Ronja just as the magia’s eyes seem to glaze over for just a second, her attention temporarily drawn elsewhere though Lúthien doesn’t have to wait long to find out why. "Luthy, she is here.” There’s no need for Ronja to give her a name, she knows exactly who the magia is referring to, and while she can’t help the uneasy feeling that tightens her chest she nods in affirmative to her friend.

"We should meet up with her then."
”She told Ronja to meet her at Level-IV... So Ronja will—Fiora!"

Speak of the devil… Familiar strands of green hair catch both of their attention, quick to follow Ronja until they meet up with @Fiora.

Visits to the MIT facility have become a routine by now. While her aid was seemingly no longer required in any way, she still wished to keep up with the situation, given her vested interest. Though this didn't mean much, given the almost suspicious secrecy the organization seemed to operate with. But even if these visits were as fruitless as ever, there was no intent to just stop. But perhaps something else was trying to make her stop by force.

The blaring red lights and loud noises were nothing short of disturbing and unpleasant, putting the girl's mind into disarray and confusion. No one seemed to know what was going on and the central staircase became locked, ensuring that just about everyone not close to the main exit was thoroughly trapped. As the magia rushed through the hallway, she even spotted @Ueno Mizuki disappear into one of the rooms, though, by the time she had gotten to the same point, the caenis seemed to have entirely vanished.

With no obvious way down, it seemed like restoring, or perhaps bypassing, some of the systems was the girl's best choice. And seeing as many machines were going haywire, causing damage ot the whole facility, it was not exactly a question of whether she should help, she simply had to. Using her magitech to connect herself to everything faulty she came across, be it wirelessly or physically, she did her best to fully deactivate machines or bring them back to working order, although that seemed often impossible, given the fluctuations in energy levels.

Something big was going on, that much was beyond clear. And given what facility this was... she had to get down to the lower floors, somehow, anyhow!

"Sven! Duck!" Clarissa shouted for her companion before she swung her wrench with all of her might, batting away an electrified wrist-thick cable that had snapped from a sudden ground tremor that was about to turn the blonde into a mighty light bulb. After being swatted away, the cable ended up wrapping around one of the exposed metal frame on the ceiling.

Despite having undergone a final destination moment, Sven maintained his lack of expression as he checked a diagram of the MIT complex, wracking his brain for a half-finished hole where they can get down to Level-III without having to waste time blasting through the security doors that lock sections of the maze-like hallways.

"Now where did I see it again? Think. Right. It was the 5th hallway around the bend where I saw Reto being dominated by the Section Chief Suara. So that means that we would have to go the opposite from there... Got it! Clarissa, this way!" Sven muttered to himself the entire time until the deeply-embedded memory flicked on like a switch inside the youth's mind.

The fixer made sure to pay extra attention to their surroundings as she caught up to Sven. Although it was a risk to let the nerd lead, both front and back were equally as dangerous, so they might as well take the risk.

After a brief sprint, Clarissa stopped mid-track and grabbed onto Sven's thin arm, stopping him from advancing further.

"It's too quiet here. Literally a ghost town even though there were a bunch of people where we came from..." Clarissa commented as she narrowed her eyes.

"???" The fixer sniffed the air.

"...overwhelmingly sweet scent. Shit. The thing my entire team dealt with yesterday is loose. Are you kidding me? They haven't transport it down to Level-IV?" Clarissa spoke as nervous beads of sweat rolled down her face.

"What thin--???!!!" Sven's question was cut short as he found himself suddenly and completely submerged in a multi-colored ooze before being pulled away.

"SVEN!!!" Clarissa reached out, but alas she was too late. In the dark lobby, she had completely missed the minefield of purple puddles scattered all around the floor. The ooze was hunting.

She needed to gather anyone nearby and rescue Sven right away. The ooze is a voracious eater and will actively digest their victim.

  • To interact with Clarissa, tag me in the comms thread.

Mechanics
  • You may move between the floors.
  • Each cycle, you may move up or down 1 level.
  • Each time you move up or down 2 levels instead of 1, spend 4 passive movements or 3 passive movements and BA rush, or before taking action, use your bonus action and make an expertise check (Awareness or Knowledge 100+). If you fail you may not move at all this cycle as you are lost.
  • You may only interact with the encounter or people on the same floor as you.
  • Check to make sure that you apply the starting penalty to yourself based on your previous location (your starting location before you take your action).
  • You may make an expertise check or a mastery check and flavor your action accordingly to add to the progress track. In order to go down to Level-V, you must meet all the sub-objectives in addition to capping the progress meter.
  • The objectives aren't meant to be completed super quickly. Take your time. Pacing will be adjusted depending on the number of players who show up.

Ground Floor

You should already have descended down to Level-I by now.

(Encounter S0) Sandowichstan Retrieval: Mediterranean Breeze
  • Spend an action and retrieve the "Mediterranean Breeze Sandwich" Grilled chicken breast, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh basil leaves, crumbled feta cheese, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze, served on a crusty ciabatta roll.

Level-I

(Bonus Encounter S) When you start on or go down to this level, you are privvied to a bonus mission involving a highly-paranoid MIT culinary researcher, Sandya Sandowichstan, who had just completed his Sandowichstan Special Fives, the 5 sandwiches to rule them all. They are unfortunately spread across the 5 levels (ground, 1, 2, 3, 4) and stored inside the malfunctioning fridges. Retrieve them before they spoil.
  • Use an action to find and retrieve the sandwiches.
  • Bring all the sandwiches and pass them to Sandya with a BA at Level-I before the start of Cycle 4 or they will spoil.
  • You may use a bonus action to pass the sandwich to someone else.
  • Collection list: Mediterranean Breeze, Banh Mi Fusion, California Dream, Roppongi Delight, Tex-Mex Spicy Latina
(Encounter S1) Sandowichstan Retrieval: Banh Mi Fusion
  • Spend an action and retrieve the "Banh Mi Fusion Sandwich" Tender marinated grilled pork, pickled daikon and carrots, fresh cucumber slices, cilantro, and a spicy Sriracha mayo, served on a crispy French baguette.

Level-II

Take 20 damage from inert Ooze trap when you enter or start your turn here. You may leave this floor by fleeing.

(Encounter Z) Ooze Snooze. This mysterious ooze that was born from a chem leak the day before is hunting people down and eating them. Fight it or flee!
  • Ooze [750/750]
  • Attack the ooze through combat actions and BA. Divide all damage to the ooze by 3. Hydromancy or Alchemy attacks deal normal damage.
  • Sven is rescued when the ooze is destroyed.
  • If you have metal armor or weaponry, gain a -25 to your main action in C3.
  • Fleeing: This does not take an action, but you automatically take 40 damage.
  • You may use your action to make a Reflex Save of 65 to completely avoid the ooze and move out of this floor. If successful do not take damage at all. Otherwise, take 40 damage.
  • Take 20 damage after this encounter.
(Encounter S1) Sandowichstan Retrieval: California Dream
  • Spend an action and retrieve the "California Dream Sandwich" Sliced turkey, crisp bacon, ripe avocado, juicy tomato, and creamy herb aioli, nestled between two slices of toasted whole wheat bread.
  • Take 20 damage after this encounter.

Level-III

(Encounter W) Get rid of the water that has submerged many of the locked sections in Level-III. While this encounter is active, it requires an extra 4 movements on top of other requirements to leave this floor.
  • Drain [000/300]
  • Make a contribution check, mastery (+ bonus mod from a secondary mastery) or expertise
(Encounter S0) Sandowichstan Retrieval: Roppongi Delight
  • Spend an action and retrieve the "Roppongi Delight Sandwhich" Layers of tender wagyu beef, caramelized onions, and melted Swiss cheese on freshly baked brioche, topped with a tangy wasabi mayo.

Level-IV

Take 40 damage from the heating system and electro flux going haywire when you start your turn or enter this floor. Damage reduction and negation may apply here, however, be aware that you may need the BA to perform the actions below.

(Encounter O) Override the overwatch module to unlock the Central Stairwell (Spine).

  • There are 20 combinations that must be tried. Use an action to roll 1d2 to see how many combinations you can go through before the console rejects you. Using a BA adds one more (1d3). Magitech rank C, B, A, S adds +1 (up to 1d7).
  • Take 20 damage after this encounter.
(Encounter D) Find the damaged pipe that is responsible for dumping heat into the entire Level-IV floor.
  • There are 6 possible locations where the leakage could be, since they are too hot and too steamy, they are difficult to navigate to.
  • Use your action and roll 1d6 per 4 movements to reach the leakage. You will only reach the leak by rolling a 4.
  • Take 30 damage after this encounter.
  • Upon completion, the damage from starting or entering this floor will be reduced to 20, but the encounter damage will stay the same.
(Encounter S4) Sandowichstan Retrieval: Tex-Mex Spicy Latina
  • Spend an action and retrieve the "Tex-Mex Spicy Latina Sandwich" Slow-cooked pulled pork, tangy barbecue sauce, spicy jalapeños, crunchy coleslaw, and melted cheddar cheese, all piled high on a soft brioche bun.
  • Take 20 damage after this encounter.

Level-V

Ground Floor → Level-I

Having departed the Ground Floor for Level-I, unfortunately with his life, Chrystopheles immediately encountered the weirdo MIT…cafeteria lady. In his head, the massive mountain man gave props to the nerds for such a diversity hire. Usually, cafeteria ladies were, well, ladies. But hiring a man to be the cafeteria lady? That was pretty amazing of them, even though the guy who introduced himself as Sandya Sandowichstan seemed too obsessed with sandwiches for Chrys’ liking.

Five sandwiches across the five floor levels? Really? Chrys was more annoyed at the fact that apparently he had missed a sandwich lying around the ground floor, where he had come from. The God of Rocks believed he should have noticed such a distracting thing without much prompting. Then again, he’s old and he’s about to retire. Must come with age, missing sandwiches on the floor.

Fortunately for him, as per Cafeteria Lady Sandya, there was a sandwich on the same floor that he must retrieve for the sake of everyone in the world. Or just the sandwiches themselves, before with those fridges malfunctioning, they would spoil real soon. Hmm, so it wasn’t on the ground? They’re in malfunctioning fridges… My eyesight is still fine!

Chrys celebrated his personal victory, an affirmation that age has not caught up with him yet, by loudly declaring his goal of retrieving the sandwich on that floor to everyone else.

"I’ll retrieve the bread on this floor! Everyone, do…other stuff."

He then proceeded to do just that. But not before Cafeteria Lady Sandya corrected him: It was a Banh Mi Fusion Sandwich, complete with pork, vegetables, and French bread. What confused Chrys was how he was going to do it. Ban him? I’m not even a moderator.

Familiar and unfamiliar faces abound, the Storyteller soon recognizes other individuals unwilling to flee from the situation, easier to separate them when rather than run from impending dangers, they linger around with an excited buzz about their person. Slippery trails of colored liquid on the ground alerts her first, the screams for help from other researchers second.

"You three! Fight or use this to defend yourselves!" Rael snaps at the other women, dissipating the form of the Seamstress at once in favor of creating something else with the mana that is released into the air. The overflow of arcana energies disperse at the elf's command, formless, fleeting rushes of magic that near instinctively reach for her before, with a line from a poem and a gesture from her hand, they flit about to the three.

The convergence of the mana bubbles would float in front of each woman in turn, awaiting for them to submerge their hands within it and retrieve an object - anything at all that they might please, to carry out their mission of dealing with the present obstacle.

She would stay, and bolster their strength by conjuring them weapons worthy of their titles as heroes.

-20 HP from inert Ooze trap

Maybe it was wiser to have intentionally lost the race against @Devi, though she’d rather be a fool still than endanger the fiery fighter just to save her own ass. If it were someone else, perhaps. But since it was Devi? Aika would not dare leave her partner-in-crime, her other half, in mortal danger while she sashayed out of there with her clothes un-slimed. Or un-oozed?

"Gross, gross, gross! I hate this! I hate this! I hate this!"

She groaned in pain and disgust, almost sobbing at how disgusting the ooze was. It felt so sticky and weird and was not in a general sense, or any sense for that matter, a fun time. In revenge, Aika raised her arms in the air and channeled every drop of water around them and everywhere else, squeezing even the littlest of moisture in the room, before hardening them together as string-like wires, destabilizing the squishy monster not unlike a fly suddenly trapped in her web.

Instead of choosing to conjure an actual weapon from the elf woman's magic, the ravishing rogue used the mana bubble to enhance her hard water strings. Same theory really, with just a tweak in the application. She then pleaded with Devi to pretty much do all the hard work for her, as she wasn't sure she'd be okay dealing with such a disgusting thing.

"Darling, now, please! Kill it! Kill it with fire!"

Aika could hold her hard water web for quite a surprisingly lengthy amount of time, but under these gross conditions? She would rather just die. Figuratively. She’d rather not die in her first event, even though it was also her last. Yet everything eventually ends, except for energy, she just remembered. Trying to distract herself from the ooze’s icky oozes with random thoughts? Not that bad of a plan.

-40 HP from starting turn in inert Ooze trap (x2)
❰ Vulnerable ❱

Devi had a huge grin on her face. This was what she was born to do: punch squishy things into oblivion. She’s made a career in the real world punching people unconscious. Much harder to punch an ooze in the face, though, mostly because she wasn’t sure where its face was or if it even had a face, but a wise person once told her: ‘Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.’ Or something to that effect.

Gods damn it! Where is its mouth, though? She gritted her teeth, though her demeanor immediately turned positive when an elf woman boosted her. Devi did not hesitate putting both her hands inside the promising mana bubble. She wasn’t a hesitant old man like Hank Pym was in that weird Quantumania movie. ‘Sides, it wasn’t like she had time to hesitate. Time was of the essence, and her fists were raring to go. Ah, screw it! I’ll just punch it wherever!

With a barely understandable battle cry of sorts, it was actually more like a scream from a person who just stepped on a Lego, Devi coated her mana gauntlets, the weapon she conjured from that mana bubble, with mystical fire before recklessly throwing punches at the closest part of the ooze she could hit! Alas, once she was done, it seemed like her effort was less than desirable. Was the ooze resistant to fire? Or was the resistance to her devil-may-care punching? Was it too squishy to feel...the burn?

"Uhh… I don’t think my fire’s doing that much damage, honey! Anyone else got a plan?"

Devi turned to the rest of the folks on the same floor with her, @Aika, and the gods damned ooze. Surely, they weren’t going to die to this thing, right? RIGHT?!

Her hug with @Fiora Di Angelo lingered, and the hand that rested on her cheek along with the lovely words tingled a hint of comfort in the magia's heart, that placed a hand over it and squeezed softly. "We will. And this time, we will end this." She said, with her gaze slowly turning to @Luthien.

"An underground reservoir..." Her eyes clicked twice, turning while she tried to rewind her memory before a sudden overflowing water engulfed the level, enough to be a trouble for someone of her size, that tried to gain some height while hoping to open a portal to summon the the water out of that place.

"Dear, Luthy, Ronja needs some opening a portal to get this water out of here-" She said, grabbing onto a high object and using it as a platform to slowly fuse her summon with arcanamancy, opening a wide portal to slowly drain the water out-

However, it accidentally caused an abrupt whirl, pulling the object she was on top off and making her lose the balance, going face first with a yelp toward the water while the portal faltered-

"I'm in-!"

Kyanna warned @MAI through an UI-Message, quickly navigating on her UI before closing it and focusing on the problem ahead.

Breaking through the Level-II, Kyanna hissed through the air along with her flying broom that sparkled with a starry nebula trail, maneuvering dangerously near the ooze and the poor guy that was stuck in it.

"Jinx Wynx Jin Boo~!"

She swayed her hands and fingers before pointing with her index, zapping a destructive hex ray that sank deep into the bouncy surface of the slime before she tried to drain away its energy inside out, though failing momentarily as she felt the corruption strength crawling on her skin.

"Hey! Try to swim out already!"
She warned.

Her heart resonated with @Ronja Bubblyfoot's words, determined yet gentle stare focusing on the magia while she felt the little fingers squeeze around her own hand. A quaint smile rested on her features for a little longer until Fiora had to face the ranger once she asked for a reservoir, returning back to neutrality.

A puzzled look went back to her beloved once she pondered over the question, then to the floor once the flow of water made her ear flicker, catching up on just how much water begun to rise. "The drainage system must be damaged." She kept her feet firm, the existence of one more of an assumption than anything, but if they had even the slightest idea about safety, there should be one in the first place.

"A portal? Got it, I'll try to stop the flow in the meantime." Fiora replied, as the portals from the orphanage came to mind, and that big squishy thing they used to absorb the water in the first place, but with this much liquid that might not be an option, if Ronja didn't consider it in the first place...

Her Aura spread out, forming a focused barrier on one side as the water simply halted entirely, the invisible force showing itself for once as orange energies weaved themselves together like a wall to push back against, bitting her teeth as she gave a little opening for Ronja.

Until she felt her own footing fail, confident once the water had started to drain out.

"R-Ronja!" Her concentration dropped entirely the second a squeal made her turn around and notice the magia falling right into the waters as her solid ground wobbled right to the portal, her arms stretching out to hook under her armpits and lift her back up, groaning once the muscles on her legs tensed as she stomped down, magic wrapping around them both to at least help her keep her feet still. "Luthien, focus on the corridors, I'll help her with the portal." She ordered with no more than a glance in their direction before her eye turned to check on Ronja, but fortunately not a single scratch on her face.

"Better stick with me being your high ground, love." Taking a deep breath, Fiora lifted the magia up to her shoulders for her to sit on, both hands wrapping on her legs to keep her steady and pressing her back against the nearest wall to use as support. "Open it again, we should be fine like this." At least it would be harder to bring her down compared to some object floating about.

"Are you guys really surprised shit broke down?"

Imoogi had spent so much time working on rebuilding this place. She'd even stopped herself from sneaking down into the "forbidden" floors so they wouldn't immediately kick her out. They had it handled, or so they claimed.

Clearly, they had no idea what they were doing. Hell, there was some guy going on about sandwiches up there.

"Ugh, acid ooze. Let's see if we can neutralize this..." Imoogi readied a fuming flask. Base neutralized acid, right? Or did it make mustard gas...

Too late now! Imoogi chucked her overfilled flask at the ooze. It burst open on impact, filling the room with the smell of ammonia as it reacted with the ooze. Unfortunately, Imoogi was caught in the burst, splattering herself with caustic mix.

"Augh! Blech!
