Aeon only looks out for himself, whatever can get him higher in the social rankings, that's what he's after. Not out of a drive to become the best at the game, although that wouldn't disgust him, but to get the euphoric sensation of seeing someone depend on you that you cannot get anywhere else. You've led a quiet and unassuming life, not leaving much in the way of a mark in the world. Matías loved every "Thank you" message after a match where he worked his ass off to make sure his team succeeded, the shameless praise he received was enough to make the hand-breaking training he endured worth it, to the point where he would get angry if someone in the team left the lobby without typing some variation of the same trite message congratulating his effort and celebrating the team's victory. But the feeling kept fading away, slowly. Each victory is a smaller hit of excitement than the last, and now, it all feels routine.
Online chatrooms spoke of the next level, something stronger, that could fill that void he was feeling. Difficult to access but rewarding when achieved.
"Tor Browser? Why all the theatrics? I thought this was just another VR game, dude.", were the famous last words, spoken a simple download before discovering a new world.
