"So it will take a time before you come back again?" They asked.
"Well, yeah. I need to solve other stuff as well, and these ones... They may take a while." Hanno said, adjusting his shield on his back, almost like a nervous fidget.

"Liri will miss you, you know." The Caretaker pointed out, with a faint smile.
"Y-Yeah..." Hanno said, scratching his nape. He knew it would come to this, but he couldn't really ignore other important things.
"I can't really bring her with me either."

"If it is to do typical Lions dangerous work, so she can become a squire if she wants. I'd prefer if you waited a year or so. I would rather not get jailed for being irresponsive." The Caretaker pointed out, with a faint smile.
"That wouldn't be ideal, that's for sure." Hanno shrugged with a chuckle.
"I will say a hi to her, but I promise I will continue to come back."

Liri tugged Hanno's wrist, urging him to follow "No opening eyes, no cheating, just come! You can't either, Shield!"
Ghast rumbled, remaining mostly still in mundane shape.
"My eyes are closed!" Hanno insisted.

"Really? I didn't notice it." She stuck a tongue out, jestful.
"Hey." He frowned.
Eventually they paused, and Liri let go of his wrist so she could skip and stay in front of him, fidgeting for a moment. A whispering or another could be barely heard, with a scolding 'shh' making the faerin knight raise his eyebrow.

"Okay, you can open your eyes now." Liri said.
Hanno slipped a chuckle, mostly at the quiet chaos that was probably happening in front of him. As he opened his eyes, the outsdoor table, a long one enough to fit a whole Lions squad, was filled with all sorts of breakfast meals... And honestly, most of them with a really bad presentation. Eggs scrambled in confusing ways, ham with unsteady cuts, breads that were overly toasted, sandwiches with exaggerated fillings, chaotic shaped pastries and cookies...
It looked confusing at first, but when he noticed the kiddos around the table, some with hands covered with jelly, others with flour on their sleeves, and all of them wearing worn out aprons, it was impossible to not put pieces together.
"You..." Hanno muttered, awestruck.

An excited giggle escaped her lips, and she leaned in. "Heeey, Arcia to Hanno, can you hear me?" Liri joked, using a Starcalled jest.
When she had his attention again, she gestured to the table. "They insisted me to teach them how to cook, after the last time you visited us." She said. "And they wanted to give you a surprise." Liri smiled.
"Will you have a breakfast with us? I know you will be busy, so... You know." Her smile faintened.
His eyes trailed to Liri, then back at the kiddos, with smiles covering their faces. Weeks ago, there was only fear and sadness in their eyes, but perhaps... Perhaps not everything was lost.
"Uncle Hanno, we made this jelly ourselves!" A little girl chirped, along with two other friends, all of then having their aprons covered with purple stains.
"Cookies are hard to bake, and they make look weird... But it is tasty, I promise!" A boy said, a bit more concerned, with another vouching for it wirh an eager nod.
"Our sandwiches are the best, Uncle Hanno! Try ours first!" A group of rowdy kids barged in, raising the platter of sandwiches.
"Behave." An older boy said, and the rowdy kiddos calmed down for a moment, along with all the chattering. He then turned to look at the faerin, with the skeptical expression on his face being far gone by now.
"We also made some juice, and it is too much for all of us... So... Yeah." He averted his eyes.
"Have a breakfast with us."
Hanno continued to look at them in silence, with emotions swirling in his mind. Guilty for not being strong enough to save their families. Uncertainty for helping to spare the thing that causes so much suffering, even if probably out of her control. But also happy for the smiles they finally wore on their faces. And hope for the kindness they had of accepting another, even if they were scared at first.
A small chuckle escaped his lips, with tears being held back at first.
"I mean, I... I can't just say no to food." His smile quivered. It has been a while since he had breakfasts for a reason aside of just filling his stomach. He supposed these kids and
Mia were changing that now.
"But I can't eat this all by myself either, so... Ghast, let's have a breakfast. Our friends made a really nice table for all of us!"
For a moment, the shield rumbled, poking the attention of the kiddos, and making Liri sweat a bit, half opening her mouth to protest, but-
"KU KU KU KU KU-" Tentacles and eyes grew on the shield, that began towering over all of the children, that screamed and stumbled on each other while trying to run.
"GHAST!" Hanno opened his eyes widely, not expecting her to appear like that instead of in hee fake faerin shape.

"For Rhiannon..." Liri sighed.
After gathering the scared kids again, and properly introducing the strange shield, they had their breakfast peacefully.
Some even started playing with the funny looking shield, tossing food at her and poking her tentacles, playing around with her and treating the Shield mostly as a very exotic pet. Ghast sure didn't mind it.
Still, Hanno kept an watch over it, sitting lazily on the grass with his belly stuffed, next to Liri that also seemed full, but not to an exaggerated side.
"... Say, this uncle thing is your fault, isn't it?" Hanno asked.

Liri's ears perked up, and she averted her gaze for a moment, whistling.
...
"Maybe..?"
Her whistling and feigned innocence were soon interrupted by a hair ruffling, along with a chuckle and a shrug.
"It is fine." Hanno said, crossing his arms.
"Thank you for that. I think I needed it." He admitted.

She adjusted her hair back, giggling faintly. "It was their idea, not mine..." Liri admitted.
"You will really be gone for a bit?" She asked, hugging her knees.
Hanno nodded.
"Yeah. I need to focus on trying to help people to keep things together. The world is a mess right now." That was the truth.
"I will be back in a month though. And I plan to keep visiting any time I come to Finweald." Hanno reassured.

"You better do, or else, I will hunt you down." Liri threatened.
"Not the first, not the last. But at least it isn't to kill me, I guess." He chuckled.
Liri chuckled at first, then showing a glare that nearly yelled 'worse than death', sending a shudder through Hanno spine before allowing herself to fall flat on the grass, breathing a sigh.
Hanno grinned, then turning to look at the kiddos having fun with Ghast, laughing and smiling as any child should.
The
tomorrow wasn't looking that bad, after all. And he needed to keep fighting for it.
