Lake Horatio, Lala's Lakelodge - Wintersday

As tranquil as it always was, Lake Horatio's landscape still held its relaxing and calming ambiance, except that this time, on the Wintersday, the usual orange and yellow foliage of the trees mixed with the green of the grass were completely overtaken by the clean whiteness of the snow.

The lake has always been still, but this time not even the playful giggles and the rowdy games the tourists could disturb it, after all it was frozen solid, with nothing less but ten centimeters of a bulky layer of ice, allowing many to decide to slide around, with pieces of woods being used as sleds, and every sort of tool they could improvise to have fun.

Of course, Lala, the owner of the Lakelodge (a large building that instead of floating on water as usual, was now sliding over it) wouldn't miss the opportunity to make some gold out of it, putting her employees to work at full power, welcoming guests, serving warm drinks and food, and of course, renting skates for those that wished to enjoy the frozen lake.

"10 golds for a whole day of ice skating, just 10 golds!" The faerin exclaimed, blinking when listening to a vague complaint in the background, soon turning to face one of her employees. "Mary! How the drinks are going? The customers are tired of waiting!"

"J-Just a moment, boss-" The girl replied, trying to balance about ten mugs in a single platter.

With a sigh, the faerin shook her head in disapproval, quickly snatching a couple of mugs on each hand. "I will take care of these before our customers decide to just leave." She frowned, side glancing and noticing a big group of Starcalled approaching, widening her eyes. "Oh crap, look at that, I told you- If we take too long to serve them, soon we will get overwhelmed. Now, deliver these mugs and go welcome our customers. Chop chop-!"

"Ugh--" If only her hands and arms weren't busy with a pile of mugs, the girl would've face palmed. Instead, she hurried up, delivering the drinks before finally approaching you.

"Welcome to Lala's Lakelodge, may I help you?" She asked, with a forced tone that only made her sound even more tired than she actually was.

Special Mechanics

You may, with a Free Action, attempt one of the following Maneuvers per cycle:

Rush (Knack/Fitness DC 50). Similar to the normal Rush, except you aren't spending a Bonus Action for it. This does not stack with the default Rush Action. (Masteries that increase speed, such as Dynamism, Battle Spirits, and Martial Arts can either have their bonus added to the check, or roll the check with advantage. If you have Beastlord Blessing (Speed), You may roll with Advantage. These bonuses do not stack)

Spin (Knack DC 70).
You turn the zone you are in into a hazardous area for one cycle, and anyone that gets into your zone will be struck, receiving damage equal to your check + any offense roll you've done in the cycle. (Masteries that give acrobatic boosts, such as Aeromancy, Divine Magic, and Pierce Weapons can either have their bonus added to the check, or roll the check with advantage.)

Jump (Knack/Fitness DC 50).
You make an acrobatic jump, gaining a powerful momentum while using gravity in your favor. You increase your damage by the amount you've successfully rolled for one cycle. (Masteries that give acrobatic boosts, such as Aeromancy, Divine Magic, and Pierce Weapons can either have their bonus added to the check, or roll the check with advantage. If you have Aerialist, You may roll with Advantage. These bonuses do not stack)

Lift (Fitness DC 70).
You lift someone, being able to carry them with you and mutually boosting each other's abilities. Your Maneuver rolls are added to each other's damage rolls. (Masteries that gives strength or coordination boosts, such as Crush Weapons, Summon (Coordinate Action) can either have their bonus added to the check, or roll the check with advantage. If you have Beastlord Blessing (Strength) or Function Over Form (Strength) You may roll with Advantage. These bonuses do not stack)

If you fail to succeed in a check, you fall and receive damage equal to half of your rolled check, with Protect and Vulnerable modifiers applying.

With a Bonus Action, you may attempt the following special actions:

Pyromancy Mastery. You can melt an Ice Zone into a Water Zone. (Water Zone is a difficult terrain, that you can only leave with a DC 50 Fitness Check)

Hydromancy (Ice) Mastery. You can freeze a Water Zone into an Ice Zone.

Any Mastery. You can break an Ice Zone into a Water Zone, also creating Ice Chunks, that can be used as projectiles.

uMcpPAF.png
Ice is rather slippery, so whenever hitting a target, for every time you surpass their DC, they will slide by a zone (If the DC is 50 and you roll 100, they will slide 2 zones), depending on the position you are facing your target (if your target and you are at the same zone, you can choose the direction you are hitting them).

While sliding, if they end up colliding with someone else, both of them will slide in a random direction by half of the sliding distance before the collision + 1.

The random direction of the colliding units is determined by an 1d8.

If you have Push Action, you can slide your targets 1 extra zone. If you have Pull Action, you call slide them in the opposite direction you are facing.

Cycle 0 Rules

Mizuki had known that it got quite cold in the northern reaches of Astorea, but she hadn't expected it to get so cold that the entirety of Lake Horatio would end up frozen. Still, that was what had happened, and the luna wolf was here to see it for herself. Where otherwise tourists would be swimming close to the coast or enjoying boat rides there now were people out and about on the frozen surface of the lake, using various tools to slide about.

Which made Mizuki stand out a little, as sliding about was the exact opposite of what she was doing. She'd joined a group of fellow Travelers after hearing through @Harper that they were planning to explore the frozen lake, but she didn't have any plans to skate. Instead, the huntress had shifted her legs into a slightly more lupine shape, allowing her to walk about digitigrade with pale fur protecting her exposed feet from the cold. With every step curved black claws scratched the ice, granting her enough traction that she could walk about securely.

Must be even colder than I thought if the entire lake froze over.

Little white clouds of condensation escaped her mouth with every word, but if she otherwise was suffering the cold she didn't show it. In fact, she was perhaps even more comfortable than usual, her tail swishing from side to side behind her as she watched people slide about. Her mismatched eyes went to the Lakelodge, which had gone from drifting about to sliding about as if it was no big deal.

I wonder if this happens every year?

Mary's approach interrupted her idle musings, the caenis tilting her head as the waitress addressed them. One of her ears flicked as she heard Lala repeat her advertisements for ice skates, turning to look at her companions.

Well... I think some of us will need skates? (She raised a pale-furred and black-clawed hand to scratch her cheek.) That said, does Lake Horatio often end up frozen during the winter?

"ACHOO!"

Imoogi sniffled, looking thoroughly miserable despite the layers of warmth she'd built up. Being cold-blooded didn't normally mean much, but right now, it just meant she was especially miserable. Part of her wanted to find a warm rock to lie down on and sleep, but there was none of those around here. And trying to cuddle up next to her fellow travelers to absorb their body warmth would be embarrassing.

"Are we finally there?

So when they came to the skating lodge, the warmth emanating from its open doors was a siren song. The poor overworked waitress had barely gotten her welcoming words out before Imoogi shoved past, seeking out the warmest part of the lodge. She didn't even care about the looks she was undoubtedly getting. Any longer in that cold and she'd probably freeze to death.

"Finally... forget the ice skating, maybe I'll just sit in here until it gets warmer. Winter sucks..."

Wee hee, it is Wintersday! Cold weather, gingerbread cookies, and lots of seasonal activities. Much like, you know, Christmas! There was a crucial difference, however. Here in Terrasphere, being hot-blooded as she was, she wasn't forced into thick layers of clothing to be able to function in the cold, so she was free to choose any fit for this occasion. Using her regular, combat-ready armor would work well enough for the task at hand... But that was no fun!

A few days earlier, fueled by the Wintersday spirit and inspiration from some of her comrades, she had gone to a local tailor with a request of her own. And as of today, her outfit was done! Having gone there earlier to collect it, the tigress couldn't help but absolutely adore the final result, immediately donning it. Today, she and a few others including her bud @Ueno Mizuki were going to a lake that had seemingly frozen over once winter came, and a lodge that seemingly was located on the dead-center of it.

--

"Whoa, those people are ice skating! I didn't even know that existed here!"

__siberian_tiger_kemono_friends_drawn_by_shimazoenohibi__sample-8b5638a4705875faf54b87140f36c9d9.jpg

With genuine glee, Harper would exclaim as she pointed to those already ice skating in the frozen lake. How there was a lodge in the middle of a lake was somewhat of a mystery to her, but so were many things in this world, enough that she didn't even bother herself that much anymore. Making her way through ice, the claws on her feet would help a lot in keeping her stable, but it still felt somewhat uncomfortable to walk on cold ice with her bare feet. "Sheesh, I dunno how you can do it Mizuki, 'cause I can't wait to get my soles out of this ice."

Upon reaching the lodge, she would barely have to talk to the overwhelmed waitress before she'd let out a suprised yelp at @Imoogi darting past the both of them, immediately seeking warm shelter. At the sight of that, Harper couldn't help but chuckle a bit, before going and sitting by her side, wrapping an arm around her with a smile.

"Aw, come on now. I know it must really suck to be out in the cold if you are acting like this, but think it this way: If you don't go out ice skating or something else, all you'll have done today is get up from a warm bed, dress up in all these coats and gloves... Just to go settle down at another warm place. Sounds like a good ol' waste of time doesn't it? Besides, the best way to warm up in the cold is to get yourself fired up!"

She would exclaim, also not giving much thought to any onlookers as she cheered her comrade on. "Move your body, bust a move! The faster that blood races, the quicker you will start feeling better! Trust me on this!"

Gloved hands clenched tightly onto her scarf, shoving the fabric over her chattering teeth. Chilled skin happily embraced the warmth inside the lodge.

Despite living in the north, Aerial had never been ice skating. Well, she'd tried a few times with her former teammates. She'd never get far, though. One step on the ice and slam: she would fall either face first or land on her ass.

Unlike real life, Aerial excelled in video games. Which meant that surely, surely, she could figure this out. After all, she was a damn good gamer! .. Even with a death already under her belt.

Unconsciously, she pressed her face against the mug containing the steaming hot cocoa. Ow! The heat burned her cheek but at the same time.. It felt so much better than being cold.

She savored the warmth of the hot chocolate as she ingested the drink, the drink melting her frozen blood veins.

"Phew~ This is delicious. And incredibly warm. It feels like heaven on my tongue."

It was a day near the end of the year and Chelsea decided to one last time give her suit a test run. After the madness that had recently occurred and spending a lot of time with her company, VRS's Xmas party. The young CEO went to one of the few places in Terrasphere that didn't actively annoy her.

Lake Horatio.

Testing her suit's flight capabilities and improving her control of it over this tranquil area was something she did every month or so. Now the lake was completely frozen over. So instead of flight, it may be better to test how much heat it generates while in cold temperatures. Also... Chelsea Ice skated at an amateur level as a child. So there was a degree of nostalgic interest here.

Stepping out of Lala's Lakelodge, The young lady had her suit activated and once again noticed how much easier it was to use. The interface was now like a separate UI... one that was reacting to her thoughts.

Is this what it's like to be a Magia? Those players, I should probably ask them questions at some point. Or hire some and gather data. Maybe this suit is an early build concept for the race's appearance.

She looked at her hand, now a steel glove but completely inseparable from her skin. The cold was felt by her skin but not through the steel, not yet anyway. The thruster-like bits behind her head were back to their original form and the suit was its usual lighter color scheme that she sort of felt was a bit too weebish (bad enough certain people called her a tsundere to her face). The dark theme from earlier was gone and she had no idea how to bring it back, or if she even wanted to.

If the N-Gear can change forms... I need to figure out how that works too... sigh. Everyone else just uses this game's stupid mastery system. Having to go through this middleman all the time... I wonder if it's worth it ...

It was a strange feeling, Chelsea felt a bit of a bond with the suit. In a way, it was her only real friend in this death trap. Even if it drove her crazy with frustration sometimes. It had gotten her out of more jams than into.

Today the lake rink was quite busy.Chelsea spotted a certain pair of fur-beastfolk. The two seemed to get along well. Not that she was jealous or anything. A Nexon is independent!

A short hop onto the ice as Chelsea used the bladed tips of her machine-like legs to act as her skates and her balance improved by adjusting her "wings". A small smile before her Nexon blood kicked in and she took it very seriously. Spinning in place in a suit that looked very unsuitable for the temps.

Testing had begun... perhaps she could even have fun?
Pfft... please.

Mizuki hadn't commented on @Harper's outfit yet, despite thinking that it looked a lot more... soft-natured than she'd have expected from the tigress. Not that she thought of her feline friend as an unkind person, but she usually was pretty enthusiastic about being a badass martial artist who blasted her way past any obstacles with earth-shattering punches.

As @Imoogi rushed past them to seek shelter from the cold Mizuki raised an eyebrow, but considering the serpentine smell she picked up from the black-haired girl it wasn't surprising that she'd have trouble dealing with this climate.

I think it might have been introduced by Travelers at some point.

She replied to Harper's excitement regarding the existence of ice skating in Terrasphere. With the tigress heading over to where the ophidian was doing her best to regain her lost body heat, Mizuki decided to follow suit, although she waited long enough for Mary to answer her question.

Harper was already busy trying to encourage Imoogi to join the fun when Mizuki joined her two fellow beastfolk, planting a hand on her hip as she studied the cold-blooded girl.

If you want to warm up a drink might help. Other than that, sticking close to Harper here should help since she produces more warmth than most. As for your earlier question Harper...

She lifted one leg so she could show the underside of her wolf-like paw, with dark pads standing out amidst the pale fur.

These pads are a lot like leather soles, and my blood circulation is enhanced. As long as I get enough to eat I'll be fine.

Mizuki had done a lot of research on wolves ever since she got the hang of Metamorph, which meant she could pull off some neat tricks which might not seem impressive, but which allowed her to adapt to environments which would otherwise be considered too extreme.

Also, if you want to stay warm try to not touch anything made of metal. Most metals suck up heat really quickly.

It was nice to see things decked out in their Christmas finery once again.

...Er. Wait. It wasn't exactly called Christmas here.

Feast of Winter Veil? Wintercrest? Friend's Giving?

Wintersday! Right, yes. In the Winterdays past, well, things hadn't been quite as lively, but that was to be expected with the Starcalled gone. Now, with their return, Asher was looking forward to experiencing everything that the holiday had to offer.

Which today was, apparently, ice skating.

He glances down at the Faerin that was speaking to him and gives a shy smile before clearing his throat. "I...guess I wanna ice skate. Is there a rental service or something?"

Unfolding the Unknown
"There is, my dear customer!" Lala answered to Asher, gesturing at Mary. "Mary! You are being too slow, quick, take care of this gentleman as well-" She called for the waitress, giving a gentle pat on Asher's back to urge him to go for her.

Mary's gaze twitched, being interrupted while she talked with Mizuki, but taking the opportunity to serve all of them at once. "Of course, I can provide those for all of you, dear customers..." The girl replied to Mizuki, and to Asher, darting off to fetch a generous amount of ice skating shoes.

As she returned, some of the group had dispersed, making her let out a long sigh before she quickly tried to reach each one of them...

It wouldn't take long until most of them had ice skates, with Mary taking care of wearing them on the feet of the less experienced ones, while offering to give brief instructions and teaching for the first-timers, along with Lala, that was cheerful at how crowded her Lakelodge was.

The joy, however, was soon interrupted by a rumbling, that caught the attention of a few customers, shaking drinks and food on the tables while making some skaters lose their balance.

"Huh... Boss... What's that?" The girl frowned, holding onto a pillar and squinting at the tree line.

"I-I don't know, Mary! Stop asking questions and help me out with these fallen dishes," Lala responded, slightly annoyed.

"... There is something big coming though..." The girl pointed, staring at Lala. "And it is coming real fast too..."

"Something big? Hmph! Is it that is causing so much trou-"

Lala's words were thme cut short... With the sight of an enormous and bulky humanoid monstruosity that charged in with all might toward the Lakelodge making her heart and expressions freeze in horror.

"KYAAAAAAAAAAH!"

BOOM!

The Lakelodge tilted abruptly, sending some of the unaware customers out of windows, while others managed to hold onto anything that kept them on the ground.

With the tilt, the ice beneath the Lakelodge cracked, and for a moment, it was possible to feel the building slide, spinning slowly as the sight of a strong Yeti and its Yetilings snapped everyone into emergency mode. They were under attack!

ABOMINABLE, THE YETI

❰ 1500 / 1500 ❱
❰ 10000 / 10000 ❱

Abominable & Yetilings Actions/Mechanics

The Abominable appears at D4, and summons Yetilings on E4, C6, D6, and A9.

The Abominable hits the Lakelodge (E5), dealing 178 damage to it. Those that already were positioned on E5, have the time to jump out of the Lakelodge before it is too late.

Those that did not position themselves anywhere, start on the Lakelodge by default and do not have time to react. They must roll 1d8 to randomly decide the direction they slide to (Check Special Mechanics), and then a 1d6 to decide how far they are tossed.

The Abominable's status is Ultra Heavy.

The Yetiling 2 and 4 dealt 10 damage each (total 20) on the Lakelodge (E5).

No one can occupy the same zone as the Abominable.

The Abominable's DC is 120.

The Abominable's Taunt DC is equal to its current SP.

The Abominable's SP affects a few conditions it has:
  • Between 1500 and 1100 SP, it is Ultra Heavy, so it cannot be forcibly moved or repositioned in any way.
  • Between 1099 and 600 SP, it is Heavy, any forced movement or repositioning on it is reduced by 2 zones.
  • Between 599 and 1 SP, it is Normal, so it is affected by repositioning, including from Special Mechanics, normally.
  • At 0 SP, the Abominable becomes Vulnerable.

The Yetiling's DC is 60.

They have no HP, instead, they can only take a total of 3 collisions before being knocked out or forced to run away in the following cycle.

Whenever a Yetiling collides with a target, they deal 50 extra damage for every zone moved before the impact, on top of the damage rolled, which caused them to slide. Whenever hitting another Yetiling, a player, or any moveable target, both it and the collided target will be thrown at a random direction, as noted in the Special Mechanics.

Lakelodge

The Lakelodge receives 198 damage, and its anchor breaks, making it unstable. On the following Cycles, it will slide randomly, or according to the Abominable's strikes.

To fix the Lakelodge, you can use Healing or a Mastery Check of your choice. If you have Homebound (Construction) or Homebound (Invention) traits, you may roll the Healing or Mastery check with advantage.

[ 802/1000 ]

If the Lakelodge's HP reaches to 0, it breaks and all the ice skating activities will be postponed, and the Starcalled lose.

Imoogi silently fumed at @Harper's cheerful lecture. Part of her wanted to snap back at her. Another part wanted to lean into her to vampire even more body warmth away...

Fortunately, she didn't have to make either decision. There was no warning before she was flying and skidding painfully across the thick ice. The world spun dizzily around her before she finally came to a halt somewhere north of the now unmoored building.

"Ugh... what happened...?

She looked up, and blinked at the swarm of yetilings and their yeti master. Her confusion quickly changed to glee. Now, here was something interesting!

"Hell yeah! Time to beat some guys up!"

With some struggle she managed to get onto two legs, then proceeded to rush back towards the center of the lake, pulling a pair of potions from her robes. As she skidded to a halt, she poured one into the other, shook it rapidly, then tossed it towards the nearest group. Before it could strike any of them, the potion burst, showering them with a stinging, energizing mist.

And, well. Maybe a few glass shards. But people tended to complain about that less than the needles.

Disappointed

It's never just ice skating. As much as Asher was hoping it might be.

So he is mostly unsurprised when the giant Yeti bursts from beneath the ice and begins to cause mischief and mayhem at the lodge. The winces at the sound of the meat fists impacting the lodge and the screams of those who had to scamper off the ice in case they were hurt grates on his eardrums.

And it isn't like he can just stand by why this happens.

So, he swallows the spit in his mouth, pushes down the disappointment of not actually getting a chance to ice skate, and moves toward the biggest target on the field. There's no room for hesitation, no moment where he might reconsider his actions and take a less direct route. There is only this big creature and him and the other Starcalled who, once they realized what was going on, were likely to come and help.

...Right?

Startled, Annoyed.

Harper didn't even have time to stand up on her newly-equipped skating shoes before the lodge would be violently rattled, the tiger barely having time to even register what had happened before she found herself being thrown though a now broken window, the tigress finding herself tumbling and crashing through the frozen lake.

To stop herself from sliding all the way back to Honeyhome, she would forcefully halt her momentum by digging one of her claws into the ice floor, leaving a trail for a few more meters until she finally stopped dead in her tracks, looking back at the direction she came from to understand what the heck had just happened. Upon her eyes meeting the gargatuan beast, the beastkin would feel a mix of anger and excitement, her lips visibly curling into a grin.

Of course, it was horrible that the yeti was ruining everyone's vacation and possibly causing mass financial damage to the lodge... But it also meant that Harper's own vacation just got a lot more interesting!

"Ohoh! Someone is itching for trouble, I see! Well, ask and you shall rec-OiOiOiOi-!"

*BLAM*

The beastkin would slide and flail a bit as she tried to get up, before falling flat on her behind.
"...Right, I'm on skates." Now taking a bit more time to get up, she would take a bit to get used to moving on ice skates as she made her way towards the Abominable. First slowly, then gradually gaining speed as she got the hang of it until she was basically sprinting towards the beast. Once she got closer to it, she would crouch down and use her claws to slow herself down to a stop next to it.

Moving was easy enough now, but attacking while sliding around would still be a disaster. Harper eventually came up with an idea to solve that, the Tigress rising one of her feet before bringing it down into the ice heel-first, planting the back-end of the skate blade into the ice and giving her a pivot point, which she would use to balance herself as she swung her other leg at the Abominable's calf area, or at least what she thought looked like it, trying to take away the beast's balance.

He was big, sure, but that just meant his eventual fall would be even sweeter.

"Take this! Santa Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!" Harper would scream, but eventually be internally puzzled at why she shouted that out. In retrospect, it sounded cooler in her head.

The sudden attack had come just as Chelsea finished her practice spin. The trembling ice and cracks spreading outwards from around the lodge sent some skaters scattering The "Ace of Steel Wings" as someone incredibly stupid and crazy once called her, used a short hop to avoid any balance issues but did not take to the air as she would normally do in a situation like this.

Chelsea came to skate and to test some gear functionality of course. So she would do so with some target practice then. It was just a big stupid ape anyway! A Nexon's grace can overcome this sort of thing... as long as Terrasphere doesn't Terrrasphere that is.

Oh boo, who was she kidding?
This would be a disaster sooner or later...

Gliding easily with each movement of her sharp-edged feet against the ice. She made a half circle and with a hop into a spinning kick sent a Yetiling flying into the giant stupid beast. Focusing the N-Gear shifted momentum and she slid at high speeds backward across the lake. Folding her arms as she stared at the annoying intruders at what could have been a rare pleasant moment.

Irritated

Mizuki had been talking with the other beastfolk inside of the lodge when her ears twitched and she picked up the sound of very heavy footsteps approaching quickly. Way too heavy for them to belong to a Traveler or Lander, even if they were as big as Zeus and wearing heavy armour.

Something's coming-

It also moved really fast, so the huntress was forced to move quickly to avoid suffering the same fate as those who hadn't picked up on the disturbance in advance. She managed to jump out of the nearest window in time to not be knocked away by the giant yeti's attack, landing on all fours with her pads and claws granting her enough friction to not slip and fall.

Curiously enough, this hadn't been the first time that Mizuki had come face to face with a yeti. Back before the shutdown she'd headed into the mountains and hunted a similar specimen, working together with Seigi even though both of them had arrived at that location independently. Back then it had been exhilarating and enjoyable.

Now Mizuki was annoyed that what could have been a relaxing and peaceful opportunity to enjoy the winter had been interrupted. Just because she liked to hunt didn't mean she couldn't also appreciate downtime and having her rest interrupted made a growl arise from the depths of her throat as she lowered her stance.

Fortunately, she wasn't the only Traveler here, and the others shared her sentiment that the violent newcomer had to go. The smaller ones would also have to be dealt with, but it was clear that if they didn't take care of the Abominable Yeti as quickly as possible it'd quickly destroy the lodge which served as a source of warmth and nourishment in the middle of the frozen lake.

A shiver travelled through her body when a stinging mist suddenly enveloped her and several others who'd abandoned the lodge, but the stinging was quickly replaced by a feeling as if adrenaline had been shoved into her veins. She shot the person responsible, the snake girl, a curious look before turning her attention back to the mutual enemy they were now facing.

Grrr! Go away!

Almost barking the command she began to run, claws digging into the ice as she circled around the large monster. It seemed wholly focused on the lodge for some reason, which meant that Mizuki could take her time optimising her first attack.

For a smaller enemy, she'd immediately go for the throat, but this thing was too big to be taken down in one attack. They'd have to weaken it first, and with such thick fur biting it wouldn't immediately do any good either...

Spinning around Mizuki's momentum halted before she tensed, lowering her body and then launching herself upwards, jumping towards the Abominable Yeti from behind. The momentum from her abrupt spin caused her entire body to rotate once mid-air, the luna wolf pulling one hand back and balling it into a tight fist, the furred extremity becoming bigger and tougher until it was as hard as ironwood.

Upon reaching her target Mizuki smashed her augmented fist into the back of the yeti's leg, transferring all her momentum into a strike meant to shatter bone. Even something as big and tough as this creature would have a hard time doing anything if one of its legs had been broken. Of course, to avoid retaliation Mizuki would place her feet against the monster's furred limb to push herself backwards, landing on all fours once more as her fist returned to its former furred state.

Unfolding the Unknown
The retaliation was immediate, with the combined efforts of the Starcalled that just had their moment of joy interrupted by the giant Yeti and its smaller yet as chaotic spawns.

@Imoogi's empowerment to her fellow Starcalled brought the energy necessary for a powerful counter-attack, with @Asher's initial hindering distracting the Yeti and giving time for @Harper the opening for her Santa Kick, that didn't make the Abominable budge an inch on the ice as it turned around, not noticing @Lady N going for a strike on one of its spawnlings, sending it shrieking toward the Abominable, before being deflected toward one of its siblings and then slamming against the lodge, falling flat against the ice with spiraling eyes. @Ueno Mizuki's maneuver, followed by a powerful strike on the Abominable's leg made it growl, holding onto its leg in pain.

"Yes, YES! Kick its arse good!" Lala shook her fist vengefully, with her face covered with warm blueberry pie that had accidentally splashed against her face.

Mary, struggling to stand, with her clothes all dirt with beverages, squinted at the fight surging in front of the lodge. "Boss, they are over there..." The girl pointed at the chaotic combat.

"Oh-" Lala slapped the pie tray out of her face, wiping her eyes and scowling at the direction of the beasts. "Mary, bring the cannons! We are going to teach this thing a lesson!"

"Alright- Wait, since when do we have cannons?" Mary rose an eyebrow.

"???" Lala frowned. "Since ever? Mary, we are a lodge that sails on water, so we need cannons to protect ourselves from pirates, so we have cannons."

"But still we are a-"

"Enough! Grab those cannons already!" Lala stomped assertively.

With a sigh, Mary hurried to the deposit of the lodge, bringing out a cannon along with cannonballs, loading it before leaving room for Lala to take a shot, as she cursed in her native language.

The cannonball blasted against the Abominable, who shook its head and groaned, ready to hit the lodge before noticing the fallen Yetiling next to the lodge.

"Woo..?" It held the Yetiling on its arms.

It coughed a couple times. "Wawaaah..." It said, weakly pointing at @Lady N, before fainting.

"Woooo?!" It widened its eyes, glaring at the black haired girl from again, resting the fallen yetiling on its back and taking a step back. "WRRRROOOOOOO!"

After a roar, the Yeti shoulder slammed against the Lakelodge, sending it sliding on the ice, scratching the hardened surface of the lake, with the shape of the lodge towering over the girl, nearing her in an overwhelming speed-- But thankfully for her, the lodge seemed to lose speed, not managing to reach the distance she had created between her and the Abominable.

The Yetilings, similarly enraged, scattered around the lake, charging toward the other Starcalled. One turned around, sliding across the ice and spinning with wide open arms, hitting @Asher and @Harper with its fists. Another, a newcomer, appeared out of nowhere, in particular, leaping on @Imoogi and headbutting her with its tiny blunt horns. @Ueno Mizuki, who had hurted the big Yeti the most, angered most of its kids, being surrounded by three of them, with two of the biting her leg and her arm, and another cracking and grabbing a chunk of ice from the ground before tossing at her.

ABOMINABLE, THE YETI

❰ 990 / 1500 ❱
❰ 9486 / 10000 ❱

Abominable & Yetilings Actions/Mechanics

Yetiling 4 collides with Abominable, slides to E4 colliding with Yetiling 2, Yetiling 4 slides to E5 colliding with the Lakelodge (Knock Out), Yetiling 2 slides to F3.

The Abominable moved to D6, and summons Yetilings on C5, and F4.

Yetiling 1
moves to C4, attacking @Ueno Mizuki recklessly, dealing 30 damage. It is Vulnerable.
Yetiling 2 moves to C4, attacking @Ueno Mizuki recklessly, dealing 30 damage. It is Vulnerable.
Yetiling 3 moves to C2, attacking @Harper and @Asher recklessly, dealing 15 damage on each. It is Vulnerable.
Yetiling 4 is knocked out.
Yetiling 5 spawns at C5, attacking @Ueno Mizuki, dealing 10 damage.
Yetiling 6 spawns at F4, attacking @Imoogi, dealing 10 damage.

The Abominable hits the Lakelodge, dealing 187 damage to it, making it slide 3 zones (1 for every 50 damage) Those on F4, G3 and H2 must pass a DC 80 Reflex Save, receiving 50% of your max HP as damage in a failure, or 10% of max HP in a success.

Those that did not position themselves yet, start on the Lakelodge by default and do not have time to react. They must roll 1d8 to randomly decide the direction they slide to (Check Special Mechanics), and then a 1d6 to decide how far they are tossed.

The Abominable's status is Heavy.

Lakelodge

Lakelodge hits the Abominable, dealing 213 damage.

The Lakelodge receives 187 damage, and it slides all through F4, G3 and stops at H2.

To fix the Lakelodge, you can use Healing or a Mastery Check of your choice. If you have Homebound (Construction) or Homebound (Invention) traits, you may roll the Healing or Mastery check with advantage.

[ 615/1000 ]

If the Lakelodge's HP reaches to 0, it breaks and all the ice skating activities will be postponed, and the Starcalled lose.

Cycle 2 Rules

AsqStSI.jpg

  • Lakelodge's current Location: H8
  • The Lakelodge will randomly slide to any adjacent zone unless it is hit by the Abominable.
  • If you surpass the boundaries of the map, you simply appear on the opposite side of the map.
  • The current cycle has no word limits.
  • Players can push and pull each other around, but they do not deal damage to each other.
  • Feel free to make any questions regards the rules.
  • Anyone can join in and leave at any moment
THIS CHALLENGE IS OPEN, SO ANYONE CAN JOIN ANY MOMENT

Even more irritated

Big as the Abominable was, it didn't appear to be immune to physical attacks. Mizuki felt some satisfaction when it growled and grabbed its leg in reaction to her strike, proof that she could bring it down given several more opportunities to strike.

Keeping herself balanced on the ice her ears twitched when she heard the owner and employee of the lodge argue about bringing out cannons to use against the yeti. It sounded strange, but at the end of the day the lodge was a boat, wasn't it? Although what kind of boat that drifted on a lake without pirates would be equipped with cannons? What kind of creatures lived in this lake?

Her thoughts were forced back to the fight at hand when the yeti, predictably, reacted poorly to being shot with cannons, hitting the lodge with enough force to send it flying across the lake. The huntress would have taken the opportunity to strike the yeti from behind once more, but before she could do so she suddenly had to bring up her arm to block a chunk of ice thrown her way, after which one yetiling latched onto said arm while another used the opportunity to latch onto her leg.

Growling Mizuki shook her arm to try and dislodge the little nuisance, but as she observed their movements she realised that the reason why she was getting swarmed was that she'd managed to seriously hurt the big one. Apparently, the little ones were trying to protect their parent, which was understandable under different circumstances but ran into an issue, one which she'd quickly point out to her miniature assailants.

Grabbing the yetiling that was latched onto her arm with the other hand she forcefully pulled it free, kicking the other one loose as well even as she brought her face close to the small furred thing and growled loudly, demanding its attention. Turning it around she first pointed at the lodge, then at the Abominable, indicating that as long as the Abominable kept attacking the lodge the Travelers were going to attack the Abominable.

Following up on this crude communication she then tensed her legs and jumped into the air, grabbing the yetiling with both arms. Spinning mid-air she gathered momentum, her arms growing larger and stronger, until she released it all by throwing the yetiling straight at the Abominable, launching the unfortunate arm-biter like a cannonball before landing back on the ice on all fours, where she snarled and bristled her fur at the other yetiling which had gotten within range of her limbs.

Imoogi flinched back as another Yetiling slid into range and attacked her. The potion she was preparing fell out of her hands, the liquid spilling uselessly onto the ice.

"Oh, come on, I was almost done with that!"

She glared at her yetiling attacker and paused.

...damnit. It was kind of cute, actually. It was a good thing the others were over on the other side of the lake to see her hesitate to attack. That would be embarrassing, especially since the others were happily throwing themselves into combat with the creatures.

"You can have that hit for free, but if you attack me again I am definitely throwing you at the big guy."

Imoogi made a beeline to the south, attempting to stop herself with a spin... and instead slipped, falling on her ass with a yelp.

...she really hoped no one saw that.

Imoogi got to her feet and pulled out a potion that began to steam. She had meant for it to be some kind of warming potion to deal with the cold, but she'd overdone it it a little. She didn't even have to pour any explosive reagent into this one - she just tossed it towards the ice and covered her ears as it burst. The resulting spray began to melt through the ice, causing it to crack and start breaking apart.

"Hey kid, ever heard of a snowball fight? It's a thing we humans do for fun!"

She grinned its way. With the fangs, it probably looked more threatening than mischievous...

"It goes a little like this!"

Imoogi grabbed one of the larger ice chunks and hefted it over her head. It was surprisingly light considering its size. She took aim and then threw it with enough force to nearly knock her backwards and sent it skidding into the larger yeti like a bowling ball.

Annoyed² | -15 from Yetiling attack | -24 from Lift fail

Harper was honestly surprised at how tough the yeti was, even though she was on skates and barely had any balance, she still felt like that kick had quite a bit of oompf put into it. This wasn't going to be an easy job, but Harper wasn't discouraged at all. In fact, she was even more excited now. This thing could take a beating, and the tigress was more than willing to push how far its will could go.

However, as she tried to move back towards the Abominable to continue her assault, the beastkin realized she might've dug her skate heel a bit too deep into the thick ice, it now being stuck.

"Oh for christ... Goddamn it!" Harper would keep pulling, but the process was slow, especially since being careless could end up cracking the ice from under her. It didn't help that one of the little bastards was now pestering her. It didn't hurt that much, but it certainly piled onto the annoyance she was already feeling. All she wanted was to smash that yeti's head in, but he was out of range for the time being. As such, she would have to make do with the yetiling. But that didn't mean the Abominable wasn't going out unscathed, even if it had to be by proxy.

"Yo, Bangs!" She'd call out to @Asher nearby, lightly punching him in the arm to get his attention. "I'm kinda stuck here, so you are attacking the big guy in my stead, okay? Okay!"

She wouldn't even wait for him to give her a response before grabbing his arm and pushing him back until his arm was fully extended before pulling him as she leaned back, throwing him towards the general direction of the Abominable in an irish whip motion. If they were on normal soil Asher would be able to just stop, but the ice would make him slide a good bit away. Unfortunately, it was the first time Harper attempted to do such a thing, and it showed as she completely lost her balance and fell onto her behind, with Asher barely sliding a few meters.

"ACK! Goddamit!"

Turning to face him with a murderous glare, the Santa tigress would get up. "You didn't see a damn thing Bangs. Got it?" After the threat, the beastkin would turn towards the Yetiling that had attacked her. At least something in the general vicinity was getting her wrath falling upon them. Grabbing it by the collar and lifting it, she would overhead slam it into the ground hard enough to crack the thick ice before pulling the yetiling towards her, sending it sliding behind the tigress and into a few of its yetiling friends like a bowling ball, making all 3 slide around after the collision. Happy with her results, the Tigress would pump her fist into the air, exclaiming.

"Haha, this is just like that Elf Bowling 13 game I played when I was little! It's a Strike, baby!"

And with a final yank, her foot was now free. Harper was back online and ready to lick candy canes and kick some yeti ass. And she was all out of candy canes.

"G-Got it!" Asher replies, forcing himself to look away as @Harper collects herself. He barely manages to stop himself from asking if she needed help back onto her feet. Instead, he turns toward the giant yeti and sets his sights there, giving his brain something else to process other than the impromptu nickname.

"Bangs. Really?" he whispers to himself with a shake of his head, a curl of his alabaster hair obscuring his vision for a nanosecond before he shoves it behind an ear. Well, maybe it was time for a cut...

Rushing toward the biggest target on the field, Asher keeps his footing across the slick surface of Lake Horatio. And it gives him enough momentum to power up an attack and send it crashing into the knee of the Yeti. If he could cripple the damned thing, it wouldn't be able to get past the rest of the Starcalled and attack the lodge again. At least, that was Asher's understanding of things.

Chelsea's eyes widened as the entire lodge was basically launched at her by the mad yeti!

Calculations show it will not connect if I maintain this speed...

Wait... what? That was an odd way to think of it but she remained true to this and simply maintained her backward momentum until the building slowed down and finally was left behind.

"Hmpf! Stupid. Why don't you just go home and take your young with you?"

Chelsea wasn't into animal abuse and she wasn't sure why but something was almost pitiable about these monsters. Yes, he threw a house at her but compared to actual evil creatures... they are just AI anyway.... boo what a chore!

Right leg pulled back as she skidded and with a wide arch on the ice, made a full U-Turn straight past @Imoogi. The one female here that was actually paler than the tsun. Did she seem to be playing with a Yetiling?

What if they were just playing? Tsk... please.

Seeing all the bodies flying around as @Harper did whatever wild antics that annoying tiger did, Chelsea would shift her hair bits to the front of her and ram one of the small creatures from the side, sending it again flying into the giant.

Pulling back again, she noticed how those bits felt almost like arms to her now. Good... she was improving then.
