Sea-side Beach
Edge of Ilmea's Lament

Every pirate needed a ship to call their own. Or at least every pirate captain required one! It seemed like a sensible place to start if Charlotte ever wanted to reach the place where the lads that challenged the Imperial Petunia were. To that effect, she ended up accepting a request from a lander that was recently robbed by some pirates or raiders. He wasn't able to distinguish the two at all. But he was convinced that they were naught but beginners, and their ship was barely sea-worthy. Still, better than nothing.

The only issue was that the girl clearly wasn't to take on them alone. She had realized this as she was sitting in the brig, inside of a cage that allowed her just enough room to stretch her legs as she was seated, hand resting against her chin in a thoughtful expression. The pirates were not interested in killing the girl, but they did figure that it would be profitable to sell her off somewhere. In a way, that could get her to a place where she could talk to more sensible pirates, but also, she wasn't planning on letting them go through with their plan.

As she was contemplating her options of how to get out, the ship itself was anchored very close to the beach accessible from Falderen. After their victory over the white fox, the pirates might have gained a bit too much courage, not even attempting to mask their presence. Anyone passing by or accepting a similar quest to Charlotte's own would have no trouble finding them and potentially dealing with them. Or breaking her out first, whichever they would get to first.

Task: Scouting out the enemy
Location: Beach
Emotional State: Fine
State: Normal

It took long enough but finally, he could see his target in the distance, a old sloop that sat anchored just off the beach. Still clenching to life somehow, even after sustaining a massive hole to it's portside along with numerous other damages scattered throughout the ship, It was clear the ship was still reeling from the battle several days ago, and It went without saying, It would require extensive repairs to be sea worthy again. Regardless, given it's type and the common occurrences that occur on the coast as well as the sea, he would normally be skeptical If he was still tracking the right ship or not. Luckily, he could see his own handiwork from a mile away. As besides for the charred, wooden planks on the exterior, It was evident the portside was still drenched in magical residue, If the remaining faint, "blue" gashes in the wood were any indication of that. Of course, none of that really mattered to him. It's only significance was the innocent Astoreans being held below it's deck. The pirates themselves were only a secondary target, regardless of the danger they posed, but that also meant he couldn't just charge in. Seeing how they were no different from common bandits aside from the obvious, he knew the pirates would be merciless in their attempts to save their own skin. That meant he have to sneak aboard and kill without being caught. It was simple enough, and a easy one to boot for someone of his level but If by chance, he was found out, he could only hope the prisoners wouldn't be executed or worse,.

Nonetheless, as he stood from the safety of the tree line that ran parallel with the beach, he began contemplating on how he make his approach. Given the fact he most likely have only one chance to save the prisoners, he didn't want to botch this operation, especially after he had spent two days following it along the coast. While sneaking aboard and assassinating the so called "guards" on deck was obviously a option, he could simply demand their surrender. That obviously wouldn't work normally but it wasn't like the survivors would forget why their survivors now. How would they? He had single handily taken out the majority of their "fleet" several days ago, living up to his reputation Astorea's blue demon. Regrettably, a few small vessels such as this one had managed to escape. He wouldn't normally waste his time with small fry but this ship along with a few others had somehow managed to get away with Astorean citizens. He didn't know the specific's but it didn't matter. He kill these bastards and rescue them. As he was caressing his chin however, another idea had popped in his mind. If he didn't want to use his reputation for whatever reason to get them to surrender, he could always try to buy their safe passage with coin. It wasn't like he didn't have it. It was no secret he was the wealthiest players within the capital but It wasn't as If he wanted to own people. He already had that issue with Riza, he didn't need to deal with that anymore than he had to. It only be worse If the pirates had slave crests. He groaned at the idea. Though the sloop wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon, he have to make a decision. The more time he wasted, he bigger the chance one of the hostages could be killed.

The dampness of the brig certainly was not helping the situation. Obviously not very well maintained, a lot of the wood was near-completely covered in moss or outright rotting away. Some water was even caught in the internal infrastructure of the vessel, causing droplets to drip from above and create small puddles all over the floor, including near the cage that currently held Charlotte. Which technically meant that she had some drinking water, if she ever got really, really thirsty. Although she would have figured that if the lads above really wanted to sell her off, they would take care of her until then.

With a sigh, she stretched and got up. It didn't seem like a help was coming (on the account of Seto still saying outside), so it was up to her to free herself. Her options were somewhat limited, however. She had already tried her pyromancy to melt the cage itself, but it was just not high enough rank to produce enough heat. That much was fair, she did start the game not too long ago and did not have the time necessary to raise the rank of her masteries. It warranted a second sigh as mild frustration started building up.

Then she saw it! Something that could definitely help her! Her hands wrapped around the flat bars as her eyes fixated on a bunch of bones, presumably from poultry that the crew kept around as a food source, near one of the puddles. She used to be quite the rebellious teen outside of the game and tried a great many things, including putting together lockpicks. Using her hydromancy, she would move around the water from the puddles to nab the float the bones toward her. Once she grabbed them, she quickly got to work, breaking them apart against each other.

However, making a lockpick and/or a shiv like this would take some time. Thankfully no one from above had the foresight to come down and check on the girl and what she might have been doing. Something that would end up being their undoing, most likely.

Task: Sneaking and murdering
Location: Sloop's Deck
Emotional State: Fine
State: Normal

Conflicted on the course of action he should take, he inadvertently ended up laying against the trunk of a nearby palm tree with his right foot kicked back and his arms crossed. He wasn't usually indecisive about such matters but the lives of innocents were riding on his decision. He could afford to make a mistake, his conscious wouldn't allow it. Sighing, he turned his attention to the beach that was only a hundred or so feet away. For a few minutes, as he stood there pondering, his eyes gazed upon the waves that continually crashed upon the beach. By the time the ocean had calmed and the waves came to a stand still, he finally made his decision. He would sneak about the vessel and kill it's inhabitants in silence. It wasn't the most original of plans but It was a efficient one. With his mind now made up, he pulled himself free from his resting spot and turned to face the sloop he could see in the distance. With only a few "guards" on deck, he be able to approach the sloop with ease. It wasn't like they see him coming anyway. There was a reason he was called a demon after all. Once he was in position just outside the safety of the tree line, not wanting to ram into a palm tree on accident, he immediately closed his eyes and spent the next several seconds conjuring up the energy he needed. When the refinement process was finished and faint bolts of electricity could be seen emitting from his body, he took off, using the momentum of his power to propel himself forward. As a consequence, he blasted across the beach and even the water itself with such speed, he became borderline invisible to the naked eye. To the untrained, he would take the form of a mildly sized white & blue glint that raced across the waters. Regardless, by the time the spectators would come back to their senses, he would already be on the side of the ship, near the deck, however he chose not to budge when he saw two guards nearby chatting.

Hehe....You think that girl that we captured earlier is a Virgin? I wouldn't mind having a taste of her, even If she is some bestial kin freak with white fur.

The other man sighed while shrugging his shoulders.

I hope so....Virgins sell for so much than what we normally get........And we could definitely use the money.....So don't do anything stupid ya hear? Or else the Chief Mate will have your head!

The man on the receiving end pouted before waving off the other man with his hand.

Yeah, yeah, yeah I know.....It's just unfair we never get anything good....

The other man rolled his eyes.

Well Prey to the gods than. The Chief Mate going down there now to assess the capture If she good enough to be sold off to a bunch of nobles. If not? You may have your chance than.

The man pouted again.

Ok...but I don't wanna see her get swapped around!

Now frustrated by his companion, the other man rose his voice as he smacked the back of the man's head.

Stop complaining you fool! Be lucky you

Before he could finish whatever he was going to say, the man found himself impaled in the stomach by a massive blade, forcing him to fall to the ground the moment it was withdrawn from his body. In return, the other man took a step back, clearly terrified.

What the?

Before he could respond further however, such as calling out for help, the man shared the same fate when his head was sliced clean off, causing him too, to fall to the ground, now lifeless. From there, their murderer appeared behind them. With no guards nearby for whatever reason, he took the opportunity to swing his Odachi, wiping the blood from his blade before grabbing the bodies and gently throwing them overboard to cover his involvement. He had no clue who those two were talking about but he could only figure It was another Astorean that was unfortunate enough to be captured. Looks like he have save her too, and hopefully before she get violated by these animals.

As genius as Charlotte's plan was, it sure wasn't exactly straightforward. Making a lockpick out of a bone would be impossible in real life, and even in this game, where all of her senses were amplified quite a bit, it still remained a rather tricky task. After several minutes of unsuccessful attempts, she felt like she was making more of a shiv than anything else. It was rather frustrating, but perhaps she would not be getting out of the cage this way after all. It was then that she heard creaks of the wooden stairs down to the brig.

Hiding the sharpened bone behind her, Charlotte simply awaited the arrival of whoever was about to arrive. Their identity was soon revealed as the Chief Mate, if she recalled correctly how the pirates called each other when they first captured her. He was a grumpy lad, but a relatively young one. Perhaps she could tempt him into opening the cage? Grabbing onto the bars, she leaned against them with a smile.

"Hey, hey~! This place is pretty cold and damp, maybe you could relocate me? I'd take your room, too~"

She tried to tease the man, but he simply grumbled something and continued expecting around the brig. What was he, a prude or something? Sure, the vixen's body might not have been everyone's type, but being so completely ignored was just rude! That said, he would eventually stop by her cage and start looking the girl over from every which angle.

Now seemed like a pretty good chance to rile him up, so Charlotte winked again and simply started undressing, starting with her shirt and then continuing with her shorts. It clearly took the man by surprise, only to then make him mad. Whatever was his intention, he would produce a chain of keys from his cloak and start unlocking the cage. Once done, he would try to reach after the girl, only for Charlotte to lunge below his hand and swing the sharpened bone straight at his neck.

She must have hit an artery, judging by the amount of blood that resulted from the attack. In a way, it might have been a nice bonus that she was undressed at the moment, allowing her to wash up a bit before re-dressing and nabbing both the keys and a weapon from the ex-pirate. Her original plan with a lockpick might have failed, but she was still rather proud of herself for getting out on her own!

Task: Sneaking and murdering
Location: Below deck
Emotional State: Fine
State: Normal

After snooping around the deck for a few minutes give or take, It seemed whatever pirates that were on guard prior had seemingly went below deck. He could only gamble it was to grab a hot meal or get some shut eye. As per usual, he wasn't exactly sure but It mattered little to him, given they would all be dead soon enough. Looking at the door however, than his Odachi than back at the door, he ended up sighing disappointingly. It looked like have to do this just magic. There was just no way he able to swing his massive blade in those tight corridors below deck. He wasn't looking forward to being an assassin again but than again, he was dealing with rapists and murderers. Such scum didn't deserve mercy from him. Regardless, once he came to this conclusion, he reluctantly dematerialized his Odachi and sent it back into storage, having no more use for it at the moment. When he was ready a few seconds later to begin his expedition into the depths of the ship, he made his way over to the quarterdeck and opened the wooden door that sat imbued within the wooden wall, revealing a barely lit room, a tight corridor on the opposite side, no doubt leading to the captain's cabin, and a staircase that most likely led into the belly of the ship. Given this was a basic, two deck sloop with two sail's, this wouldn't take long. Nonetheless however, without a physical weapon to fall back on, he have to be careful, given the rather lack of space below deck. Luckily he just just the perfect idea, although he have to admit It was a bit "flashy" but oh well.

Making his way below deck via the staircase, he soon found himself standing in the middle of yet another barely lit, small room functioning as a junction for four more corridors, each running in a separate direction. He rubbed his chin. Four possibilities but what corridor was the right one? Which one would lead him to the cargo den? Was it the bow or stern? Or was it on the starboard or port side? He didn't know, and that fact alone annoyed him. Unfortunately, his hesitation to make a decision quickly came back to bite him in the ass as for while he stood there pondering on his next move, he could hear two voice's encroaching upon him. With only seconds to spare, he quickly made his way down the corridor leading to the bow before taking cover in a small room and closing it's door. Littered with only a small bed, another barely lit lamp, a crate and some sort of book, It was safe to say he stumbled into someone's room......and much to his disdain, he was about to meet it's occupant. Through the creaks in the floorboards and the numerous footsteps that were coming towards him, he could tell only one individual was coming his way. He wanted to prey to the gods they pass by but he knew better than to rely on them. He wasn't Lucia now. To ensure he wouldn't be found out, he immediately took cover near the doorway, so that when the door finally did open, the door itself would conceal him until he was ready to attack. He hoped he wouldn't have to but he knew that wasn't going to be the case here. When the door was swung open a few seconds later and his victim stepped through, It was revealed to be none other than a slender woman with long, black hair donned in a dirty, white blouse, lenin pants and dark leather boots. He wanted to believe she was "innocent" but there was no time. As soon as the door closed behind her and she made her way to the door, he immediately moved in for the kill.

With his mastery over speed and air, he closed the distance quickly without making a sound, and in doing so, she never saw it coming as he slammed the palm of his right hand against the back of her head, sending over five hundred volts of electricity throughout her body, killing her instantly. As the electricity continued to disperse throughout her body however, It took only but a few seconds for her internal organs and even her brain to rupture, causing a shower of gore and blood to burst forward. By the time it ended, half the room was splattered in blood and pieces of her entrails could be seen littered throughout the room. After that? Well, without any remorse in his eyes, he simply released the corpse from his grasp, allowing it to hit the ground without a second thought. It took a few seconds too before a pool of blood began taking form on the ground yet he could only shrug in indifference. Pirates were vermin, he didn't care about them, and even though he wanted to believe that woman was a innocent, he knew better than to be a naïve fool. Regardless on how he felt about the situation, after the electricity subsided from the palm of his hand, he wiped away the trace amount of blood he could find on his hand with some of the bed's sheets that were spared from before turning his attention back towards the door. He still had to find those whom were being held as prisoner, including that beast kin girl they had captured. Hopefully she was still in one piece along with the others or else he be a very unhappy man.

Charlotte was free from her cage, but she was the only one. There were plenty of other captives around, but the fox girl didn't really have the means of freeing them at the moment. Sure, she had the keys from the pirate that laid at her feet, but what could a group of civilians with no weapons do against a bunch of armed pirates? Charlotte herself aside, it would probably end up a bloodbath if they all tried to escape at once! Instead, she opted for a different kind of plan! She would leave them all there and take the keys with her while she went out in search of help. That way, the pirates would be unable to get into their own cages and cells, thus the captives would remain safely inside until reinforcements arrived. It was genius, really.

That just left the vixen to escape for now. She was small and nimble, so that much shouldn't be an issue. That said, the deck would probably be crawling with pirates, so it would be best to get into a different room, preferably the one with cannons so she could slip out one of the windows. Nodding to herself, she quickly found the door, and opened up. What seemed to be in front of her now was a bit of a fork in the road, so to speak. Going down a corridor, she was suddenly in a room that had doors in all three other directions as well as stairs leading up. As she determined before, up was probably not a smart choice with someone definitely standing guard. But which was would lead to an escape route?

After a moment of contemplation, she simply chose at random, heading that way. wIth her sensitive hearing, she figured she would just place her ear against a door to figure out if someone was on the other side. But she didn't even get to do that before she spotted something... unusual, to say the least. Blood slowly drifting from below a doorway on the side. Unsurprisingly, it made the girl stop in her tracks, feeling of cold running up her body. The hell did blood coming out of the room mean?! The ship wasn't haunted, was it? Shaking her head, she figured that she should keep moving... but the curiosity was simply far too great!

Very quietly and slowly, she opened up the door and peeked inside. What did she see inside? A man standing atop a corpse with gore all around, blood pooling and them moving toward to where she stood right now. With the dim light, it really was like a scene out of a horror movie. And since the man looked like he was about to leave the room, their eyes most definitely met. Several beads of sweat ran down Charlotte's face as she moved back a bit, slowly closing the door behind her with a simple line and a twitch of her ivory-white ears.

"Don't mind me, you carry on!"

As soon as the door was closed behind her, she would press her back against it as if that was enough to completely blockade the guy inside. Well, it was a panicked response to what she had just seen, after all. 'The hell was that? Are the pirates killing each other or something?! A mutiny, maybe? B-but, maybe that means there will be chaos soon and i could use that to escape!' As her thoughts raced, Seto probably acted.

Task: Sneaking and murdering
Location: Trapped in a room -_-
Emotional State:
Slightly annoyed
State: Normal

With the threat now adverted and his presence still under the radar, he was ready to continue his search for the captives when he heard the door creak open, forcing him to snap his entire body in the direction of the doorway, revealing a pair of ember colored ears and....white vulpine ears? His eyes initially reeking with suspicion, he stared her down as she did the same. Through their shared glaring, his mind immediately came to the worst possible conclusion, that she was a threat or at least a individual that needed to be eliminated. Anyone who associated themselves with pirates deserved no mercy as far as he was concerned, regardless If he was their judge & executioner or not. As a consequence however, like he had done prior with the woman behind him, he erupted his hand in a powerful aura of electricity, showing clear signs he was ready to kill her, which in return, seemingly forced the vulpine girl to close the door behind her, but not before speaking in a peculiar matter that was unfitting for a member of this ship.

He batted a eyebrow while standing in place, not quite sure what to do next. Such behavior was bizarre for pirates, even ones that were cowardly and yet this one was different...or perhaps she was simply an associate? He shook his head. Between her young age, her gender and even her race as a beastial kin, there was no way she could be one, and he very well doubted she was an associate or else....they may have done something to do her already. It was a common occurrence after all, especially on male dominated ships and this one was no exception. He ended up standing there for several more moments pondering on the idea until suddenly, as If something had clicked in his mind, he immediately remembered what that one pirate had said earlier "Even If she is some bestial kin freak with white fur." His eyes opened wide. Was that vulpine girl the slave they had planned to sell? What would be the chances of someone else fitting that description on this ship? It wasn't as If white kitsunes were exactly common now, even on Terrasphere. It took a further few moments but once he realized the vulpine girl was just another captive on the ship, he immediately dispersed the electricity from his hand and sighed. He could believe he was about to kill a innocent.

With all that aside, he did wonder how she escaped but than he quickly remembered she was a Kitsune. They were notorious for being crafty when trying not to seduce or pull off some prank. That said, he was surprised she simply didn't run away. She instead chose to barricade the door with her own body for some reason. He didn't know why. If she was a player by chance, did she know magic users could detect one's life force? He was no "mage" per say but he had no issues whatsoever in detecting her life force or the magical energy that flowed through her body. Well regardless, wanting to clear the air, he approached the door from the other side and rose his voice.

Not to put you on the spot or anything...but would you kindly open this door? Or step away from it? As I'm going to presume your a captive, I mean you no harm.....And If by chance, I had managed to terrify you, apologies. I have a tenancy to do that...

Trying his best to be polite as possible given their current situation, he waited patiently.....than waited some more.....than waited even longer with still no response. Just how long was she going to take before she make a decision or even acknowledge his presence? He was sure but It was starting to get on his nerves. In the end, he ended up rolling his eyes before crossing his arms and speaking up again, this time, not as friendly. He did try to keep a calm demeanor though.

You know...It's not very polite to keep your rescuer behind a closed door.

He sighed Still waiting for a reply, he sighed before continuing

If you don't open the door, I'll just tear it off....

Even as the fox tried to comtemplate her options, the voice from behind the door tore her out of her mind space and back into reality. She realized that trying to hold the door in place was probably rather pointless if the man was capable of killing someone with enough force to make the mess that she witnessed inside of the room, but she didn't exactly have any better ideas. At the very least the voice pleaded with her, to some extent, instead of being demanding or outright aggressive. Well, at least until the last part.

"My rescuer?! Last I checked, I rescued myself, even if it took some doing! And everyone else! I got the keys to their cages, just gotta alert the authorities. Authorities that won't make gestures like they want to paint the walls with my brains."

Charlotte certainly didn't appreciate the glimpse she got as she was closing the door. Yes, they were in a hostile environment where split-moment decisions had to be made, but that didn't change the fact that she could have met her first, and possibly rather painful, death at the hands of someone who was apparently here to rescue her. Not very nice. The man in general appeared rather rough around the edges, threatening to tear the door down instead of providing more reassurance. Quickly stepping to the side, she tried to stop him from doing that.

"Don't be stupid, you will alert every pirate on the ship! Even if you could kill them all, they'll just nab one of the other prisoners as a hostage and then we're screwed!"

She herself was almost screwed, quite literally, not that long ago. These pirates certainly were not above using any and all tricks in the book to gain advantage. Trickery was like that, brute force didn't always work best against it. And it now seemed like Charlotte was stuck with someone who intended to use force to curb all of his problems, which was just... fantastic.

OPEN THIS DOOR! 🤬

His eyes blinked twice upon her response. Alert the authorities? Was she serious? He was quite literally the closest thing she ever get to an authority figure that would actually care. Did she not know they were on foreign soil? Or the fact they were on a pirate ship that was most likely built & owned originally by the Falderen navy? He rolled his eyes at the thought. He highly doubt some lowly beast folk would be able to get herself out of that situation, especially due to the fact she wasn't human. Where as someone like him? It wasn't even a contest. Between his reputation as a fierce warrior and his former status as the second most powerful noble in all of Astorea, he carried more authority and influence than any other player besides Lucia whom shared the same rank. Well that wasn't entirety true. While he and Lucia were no longer nobles for some reason that was never explained to them, their new status beyond the capital was almost completely alien to the outside world. As a result, most Landers, even though in high positions still firmly believed in the former, which he could use to his advantage when he went on missions like this. It didn't hurt either that he personally knew the Queen as well, having fought alongside her to slay her father whom had lost his mind. Regrettably however, It wasn't as If he could call upon her, and It wasn't like her people shared the same empathy she for Astorea or it's Travelers. Of course, this woman wouldn't know any of that, but that didn't stop him from tilting his head towards the ground and sighing before face palming with his right hand.

I'd hate to break this to you...sigh...but I'm quite literally, the closest your going to get to an authority figure who will actually care for your survival & well being.....and in case you forget, were in Falderen waters....aboard a pirate ship that was most likely owned by the Navy. Need I have to even explain what will happen If the Navy stumbles across this vessel? Just because the Queen herself is appreciative towards Astoreans, especially the Travelers, that doesn't mean that her compassion is shared amongst her people, especially those who are prejudice against beast folk, particularly those who aren't Caenis. Of course, you don't have to believe me but If you don't, I can't guarantee your safety back to Astorea than...should you fall into Falderen hands...

He knew he was being a bit harsh with the girl but what choice did he have? They were in a foreign country aboard a pirate vessel. It wouldn't help the girl's case either, given her rarity amongst beast folk. If she was captured, she would most likely either be killed or tortured by those whom racist, and If she wasn't? She most likely be imprisoned or sold off to be some plaything of a noble. The Queen and her new regime could pass whatever law they wanted but everyone knew, including herself, that her people were highly stubborn. It didn't matter if Slavery was outlawed, It wasn't going to go away for a long time, no matter what the Queen would do. Regardless of the tone of voice he had taken against her however, he still half expected her to be reasonable, given the current situation she found herself in but atlas, with his usual luck, It took less than thirty seconds before he found himself completely dumbfounded when she voiced not only her disapproval but her paranoia as well, citing he fail no matter what action he take. As a response, he just...face palmed....hard before he sighed He couldn't believe someone was underplaying his abilities. Sure, his focus was to eliminate the pirates aboard, but only in a inconspicuous matter. Some psychological warfare wouldn't hurt either, given his reputation, though It seemed he had inadvertently did it to the girl on the other side of the door. He guess he should have seen this coming but It wasn't as If any of the pirates would have been sneaking around their own ship.

Do you really think I need a weapon? Or magic for that matter to tear that door off? This might come as a surprise to you...but I'm actually one of the strongest individuals in all of Astorea. Nothing short of a greater deamon or a horde of Vintergard robots are going to kill me. I'm even the one who eliminated the majority of the fleet this sloop was apart of before It escaped with the captives aboard. Regardless though, even IF they attempted to do what you say they would, I have the ability to heal even the most grievous of wounds....Should they die anyway, I also possess the ability to bring them back to the land of the living.....Funny how that works when your able to control time itself. With all that said however, should I even mention my mastery over speed? Being faster than what the human eye can detect has it's perks after all.

With fingers slightly curled and placed right under her chin, the girl took a few steps forward as she stared blankly at the wooden floorboards beneath her feet, various thoughts filling her mind. Her snow-white ears twitched occasionally, only the black fluff inside providing a colorful contrast. She took in all the information provided through the door, adding it to her pre-existing knowledge, hopefully allowing her to learn more about this strange new world she had found herself in.

"Hmm, so the authorities don't care about the well-being of people and are good for fuck-all just like real-world politicians, I see, I see. This game really is realistic! Ah, but wouldn't it be good if the Navy found this ship? I mean, they'd probably want it back, no? Wait, no, that'd be bad if I want to take it for myself!"

Truly, what a conflict of emotions and interests! The nice side of her wanted to save all of the imprisoned people onboard, ensure that they were safe and unharmed. But the more practical side of her just wanted a ship she could get her journey started with. Sure, this whole vessel might have been an old piece of shit that was half-rotten to hell due to a lack of maintenance and apparently an attack that took place earlier, but it was still better than what she had right now... which was absolutely fuck all. Letting out a sigh, she did a half-turn so she could turn her head a bit more to the side and peer at the closed door next to her. The man sure did love to talk... maybe he was in love with the sound of his own voice?

"Yes, yes, you are a brooding man of darkness who is proficient in every ancient art of war there is. You know, the door has not been blocked for a while now, Batman. You can come out... just don't kill me, okay? I guess the best course of action really would be to just farm all of the pirates for some extra experience points and then take over, let all the prisoners go wherever they want, or something."

She had no idea if what the man claimed about himself was true. It sounded rather far-fetched if she had to be honest. But on the other hand, she did see what mess he made inside of that room, so surely there was some truth to his claims about his own power. If he could just clean up the ship for her, then that would save her a ton of work, too! Perhaps she finally caught her lucky break? There was really only way to find out, and that was to wait for Seto to finally leave the room, see what he would do next. Hopefully no try his little electricity trick on her as well.

Judging by her response, he was taken a fair bit back. He had been expecting a NPC, not some unlucky player whom was presumably new. He had no concrete proof of course but hearing her say "fuck-all just like real-world politicians" was almost certainly a dead giveaway, not to mention she was a white furred fox, which on in itself was a clear hint she was most likely a player. While It was certainly possible for a NPC fox to be born with white fur, It was quite the rarity, so much so that most were often held in high regard, usually being viewed as being "blessed" by their god, one doted for greatness or one that came from a noble lineage. This wasn't exactly common knowledge, given the fact that most bestial kin tribes and clans were usually concealed from the public eye, If only to protect themselves from the prejudice of humans. It was certainly no help to anyone either that most players didn't bother educating themselves about the cultures and customs of the people that inhabited this world. So with all this in mind, most, If not all white furred foxes encountered in the world were usually players in disguise. He wasn't sure why but the only conclusion he could come up with was that they wanted to make themselves stand out amongst the ocean of NPC's or feel "special". When she finished however, he continued where she left off, If only to provide more context.

Falderen is a old monarchy ruled by the social elite. The Queen is trying her best to change things but she's foremost a warrior, not a diplomat or an administrator, not to mention young. It's only been six years give or take, since her father, the Mad King was slain, thus, If you take all that into consideration, as well as her inexperience as a ruler, It's unlikely she get her people to change anytime soon, especially the nobility. As for Astorea...well it's a bit different since it was founded and is currently ran by Travelers...though It has it's own problems...but that's important right now.

He probably gave her more information than she cared to do with but he figured It was better to paint a clearer picture than one not at all. As for her remark regarding the boat itself, he found himself a tad confused. Had she not seen the damage? The ship certainly wasn't sinking by any means but that didn't mean It was ready for open sea travel. He wasn't a engineer by any means but even he could see the writing on the wall. After all, he was the one who had damaged the ship in the first place, and she was worried the navy would want a ship that already had one foot in the grave? And...wait, what did she mean by taking it herself? What possible need could a player need a ship this size for? It wasn't as If she was a traveling merchant, he very well doubted that...than he remembered It wasn't really much of his business as long as she had no ill intent towards Astorea. Regardless, once he was done thinking to himself, he folded his arms as he continued.

In it's current condition? Doubtful, especially since it's in the hands of pirates. There more likely to fire upon us than waste any potential manpower just to board and recapture a moderately damaged vessel, especially when it's just a sloop. Even If they did, unless you were clearly a prisoner, they would probably just execute everyone on board rather than ask questions. As a former noble of Astorea, as well as a well known acquaintance of the Queen herself, having aided in her greatest time of need, I probably could prevent everyone from being executed...but I'd like to avoid that scenario if possible.

When he moved to comment on her remark about potentially taking the vessel for herself, he made himself indifferent over the idea. He was no wannabe with a hero complex or some gallant white knight. It wasn't his responsibility to clean up the messes of other countries. This was the exception, not the rules, As such, as he continued to speak, he rose his brows to show indifference on the matter.

I suppose If you were fast enough, you could take this vessel as your own, though I don't know how sea worthy it is considering all the damage it sustained a few days ago.

He laughed a bit when she teased him about being a master of warfare. He was a master of his craft, sure, but he never said anything about being a master of all schools of combat now. If anything, his wife had more practical combat skills than him. While he was far more focused on hitting his opponents with shock and awe before retreating, his wife was the more durable one of the two, focusing more on the physical side of combat as well as being able to heal proper unlike himself.

Well...not quite...but If I wanted you dead, you already be dead. After awhile, you pick up a thing or two, like a sixth sense If you will, that's lets you tell the difference between fresh blood and someone's who an actual threat.

Once he got it out of his system, his light chuckling & carefree demeanor was replaced with one that was more serious, one that carried a much deeper voice.

Despite what you might think, I have no reason to lie, let alone inflict harm upon you. What point would that even serve?

It was true, he had no reason to take her life, even If she wanted the ship to potentially become a pirate herself one day. As far as he was concerned at the moment, she was as threatening as a wet noodle. Giving her a moderately damaged ship wouldn't suddenly fix that. Since Astorea was a land based kingdom and not a oceanic once, she could as she pleased as long as she brought no harm to Astorean interests or her people. Nonetheless, when Charlotte continued on a few moments later, first telling him the door was unlocked, he made a simple shrug on his end. He knew that much. He was on the side of the door that had the locking mechanism after all. He was trying to defuse the situation. Had he torn the door off the hinge or threw it open with her behind it, the girl would have most likely panicked and run for her life. He didn't need that, especially when the prisoners were his top priority. As Charlotte continued however, It didn't take long for her to reveal her true goal, to eliminate the pirates and take their ship. He nodded in agreement.

As these are scum and not proper fighters, most of them are only sitting at proficient tier in terms of strength so someone of your level should be able to handle them fine. There are not particularly intelligent either, so you can always use that to your advantage as well.

After having said that, he finally approached the door and pulled it open, revealing the tiny, white fur fox he was talking to. She was basically to his expectations although he didn't understand why most female players chose to make small avatars. Well whatever, he knew better than to question female logic. Once he was face to face with her however, he made a faint smirk before speaking.

Since your inclined to help me eliminate these scum, perhaps I could aid you by giving you a temporary boost to your power? Or would prefer speed?

If she was gonna help, even If It was for her own reasons, he may as well help her out. What's the worst that could possibly happen?
