Kaede had no issue letting most players did as they wished, so long as they did not get in the way of her things she would not stop them. That being said someone had done just that and drawn the eerie of the veteran player. She had first heard of a new star called going around flaunting taboo magic in towns, then it became using it on landers, and now lander had gone missing where this induvial was reported to be working out of. One of said landers was Kaede's fellow townsfolk who was visiting family and never made it there. So as the veteran placed two and two together she only could assume the player was either the culprit or knew what happen maybe.

This is why she was adjusting her old combat gear, the light armor still partly foreign to her after so long and as of recent worn more then she would like to admit cleaning up the messes of new players who thought this world was their playground. Frame moving to the side to open the door and allow Totetsu, her lunatic hound out first before she would follow it after locking up her clinic and placing her 'out for a bit' sign on the door. She really needed to think of making a more serious one as it was on the door a lot now also. Shrugging as she started to make her way to Honeyhome.

Kaede did not have to be very attentive to notice the countless red flags along the road she took that had the most claims of people getting kidnapped or attacked by undead things. The air smelled of death and the silence of nature was uncommon for the middle of the day. She hard no animals, no birds, only shuffling and crickets as she and Totetsu walked the path looking for clues. Hands reaching to rest on her spell book as she slowly scanned the area. Something was coming or about to happen and she was not sure just what but was ready for it none the less.

"Totetsu, focus... We got company."

A dull tone as she spoke to the hound who growled and grew to the size of a normal alpha wolf ready to pick a fight as needed. The two forming a loose back to back as the undead began to shamble out from the Woodline to their left and right. A welcome party by the looks of things as most looked rather frail and barely standing anymore. Either the player was planning to whittle them down, or had the bigger fish guarding something else. Either way the mage would need to deal with them first as she was not here to simply retrieve the kidnapped, but put an end and give this player a veteran player lecture.

Speaking of shambling out of the Woodline, there were more than just skeletons lurking about. A young girl with long blonde hair could also be spotted along the sidelines. The situation she had gotten herself into this time was due to but an elementary mistake. One should note that all that glitters is not gold. While trying to push her usual patrol boundary outside of the village, she had noticed magic in her sight, and up until now, it had only ever been other players. So it came to pass that she learned a valuable lesson: enemies can be magical, too.

One thing led to another, and by the time the veteran player had arrived, she was holding onto a long pole made of bright blue magic which was stabbed into the core of one of the trees along the sidelines, and below her were the sources of a magic that had been new to her before now. After now? She would probably pray for it to remain scarce. One notable thing even from afar was that this player, despite obviously having access to magic, wasn't fighting back against any of the undead. Merely trying to buy time.

And buy time she seemed to do, as she noticed some of the undead turn towards another, much brighter magical presence in the distance. The last time she saw something so bright was on the player who helped her onto her feet just after starcall, so maybe this was also another long-time player here to help just when she needed it. She certainly felt fated in one way or another right about now.

She took a deep breath in and held the spear of magic she was crawling on tightly as she called out. "Somebody help meeee!"

She hated being so pathetic, but wouldn't another player understand that she wasn't quite as well off as they were since she just started? Her judgment would have to wait.

Holy Magic, Arcanamancy, and Guard Arts. Three masteries that could be utilized if she had any idea how this game worked. She really should finally get around to asking someone.

Taunting (taunt)

Kaede was not expecting to hear someone shouting for help, but looking over to see the little girl in trouble Kaede's mind sort of went pure hostile to the summoner of these undead where before was just slight annoyed. Left hand reaching outward before she would snap her fingers as a black clock would float over the nearest undead beside the young girl and in the span of seconds it's time would go long beyond what could keep it together leaving only dust.

❰ Chrono-rend ❱

"Totetsu, Go guard the kid please."

The hound would rush over while growing to the size of a bear and forming a wall using itself between the Undead trying to reach Azykia while Kaede focused on the others. No matter the girl's reason for being here, it did not change that Kaede was going to fight to keep her safe as that was simply what she wanted to do. Holding the same hand out as she would snap her fingers again to draw the focus on the undead towards her and not the kid with a smile across her face.

"Leave the kid alone would ya, if you don't mister summoner then I'll just have to level this entire place to find you out of anger.~"

Kaede's words did not sound like an empty threat, and the little girl who could see magic would be able to tell Kaede was flaring her magic to pull the focus on any undead using the same magic that had brought them into this world, Animancy a taboo magic but in this case she needed it to keep the focus and was not expecting as much of a feedback reply from the magic. The person had been busy and she had a lot of cleaning up to do because of it. Humming as she unclipped her book and got ready for a long fight.

She had been taught the vague motions of combat before now, but she hadn't really seen a situation elevate to this level before. Did she really walk into something so great and terrifying as a powerful mage's grudge against some summoner? All these undead she could faintly see in the strange way that she could. Were they all here for that person in particular? She heard Totetsu arrive in her general area beside her angled spear, designating the sudden appearance of a bunch of runes in the vague formation of a dog to be this 'Totetsu'.

She also couldn't help but to gawk almost in horror at the unidentified mage as she flared up with the same sort of magic she could see all over the creatures threatening her life at the moment. It took her a few seconds longer than she would have liked to come back around and realize the more important thing, though. This person, whoever they were, had come to her aid.

They had come to her aid, and she refused to let herself continue being as she deeply loathed to be. Helpless, pitiful, useless.

She couldn't do anything about the zombies, as even though they were faintly entwined with Animancy, she wasn't quite good enough to keep a distinguished eye on things with such a weak aura. On the other hand, the mage trying to help her was like a dark star, a sun made of terrifying and unspeakable things. Be that as it may, she could see her just fine, and endeavored to make a change in the way she found most practical.

She reached out one hand towards her current (and hopefully not temporary) ally, and Holy Magic began to spiral out of her hand in a thin line until it reached all the way out over to her. Even if it wasn't much, she refused to do as little as she could see.

Kaede was not sure how to keep things slightly smart in the sense of avoiding her taboo magic but in the case of so many undead coming she was going to need to work with the magic and hope the girl would not rat her out. hand placing the book back on her hip as she pricked her finger to draw blood and summon a boa staff to use as a weapon for the time being. Spinning it to deal with a few of the attacks before swinging it into a zombie to remove another threat.

Totetsu doing all it could on defense for the small girl, growling and trying to act like a scary dog like the two had practiced but she was still a puppy and clearly did not sound the slightest bit scary. Kaede had to fight a laugh knowing the hound was trying her best before taking note of the buff from the small girl. A silent 'thank you' as she would spin the weapon around some more while looking at the zombies to decide who was going to approach.

Her magic getting a ping from deeper in the forest of the same magic she had been using to keep the zombies focus on her, and it was trying to bring something big back to life. Clicking her tongue as she looked to the little girl and Totetsu. She could make it there but it would mean leaving the two with the undead here even if she pulled the others approach along with her. maybe she could try to keep them both safe and keep moving towards the big threat, but it was not going to be easy at all.

"I know you just met me little miss, but if you could climb onto Totetsu's back so you all can keep up... the person who is controlling these undead is trying to bring something big back and I'd rather not let that happen... And I can't just leave you to fend for yourself either."

"On his back?!" She called back in response. She looked over at the rune monster for a few seconds, trying to parse out his form. She wanted to call out, I'm not sure where that is, but the mage's demand sounded urgent enough to instead make her gulp and try to balance atop the spear she had been clinging to. It shouldn't be that hard. It was the only thing she could see!

She took her time getting up onto her feet, but the moment her balance began to betray her, she leapt off towards the towering rune creature. She liked to keep things as in her control as possible, but this was one of those moments where she had to swallow her pride and pray a little bit. If anything, she should keep her eyes peeled and see if this mage could use any of the same kinds of magic she could, so she could ask for advice later on.

As she was about to submit to the will of blind prayer with no pun intended, she created a bridge made of magic beneath her to try and get onto Totetsu's back easier. It was an over glorified plank made of bright blue magic, but it got the job done.

"Her back, and yes it would help since I can't protect the two of you if she has to also try and protect you moving alongside her. This way she just has to stay nearby and can run if things get diced."

Spoken as she spun the Boa staff and then tossed it like a spear to impale a Zombie trying to get to the two less combat experienced before calling the blood weapon back to push the other zombies back as she started to head towards the heavy magic signal she was picking up. Totetsu barking and starting off slow before hinting she was going to pick up pace to keep up and hoped the girl was ready to hold on as the three started to move to the 'boss' of the area.

Kaede's hands spinning the Boa staff before altering the shape into her more normal scythe weapon as she rushed leading the charge. She could figure they had maybe three or four minutes before the big Animancy target was up and running. She would not make it to stop the spell, but the least she could do is try and delay it long enough to make it not worth the trouble. The issue though was getting there as she had to weave around approaching undead.

Her magic casting a net as she tried to use her own Animancy to confuse the undead the player had summoned, sure if she smacked on Corrupt magic she could overturn them with ease but that was time she did not have. Looking to make sure the girl was still on Totetsu's back as she cut across a clearing and could see the person she was here to help had been turned and that was enough to set off the nuke that was Kaede's temper. Magic exploding out of her frame a black wings reached out, this player was going to get a lecture and a death when she was done with them no other result would calm her down.

As the commotion continued, Azykia had little to comment on aside from the sea of discomforting magic she was being dragged through as she held onto what felt like some sort of giant dog for dear life. If nothing else, the light show was a fair warning never to get on this woman's bad side. She said the primary issues were speed and defense, but from the looks of things, she didn't feel like she was going to be much help. Much, but that was still... something, right?

She hadn't been taught only one trick by now, and though she wasn't really able to practice spells like this in lieu of trying to learn the ley of the land and overcome what she considered to be her current greatest struggle. That didn't mean she was terrible at it, though, and the holy magic at her disposal flew out in another spiral, tearing apart the thickness of the air and paving a path of light for the mage for a ways to go up ahead (despite how she seemed to align against it in every way possible).

Taunting (taunt)

Kaede would once again give a silent thank you not exactly noticing the girl could not see that well, either way she would throw her scythe to deal with another Zombie and push another off to the side before coming across the ritual site of the necromancer far faster then she was expecting. Looking at the caster of the magic as she could only grumble and sigh seeing the clinch necromancer look. Coughing to get his attention before she spoke up.

"It is one thing to cause issues, it is another to kidnap people off the road, then another to kill them and make them undead servants... But it is entirely different case if you FUCKING turn one of my friends into a damn zombie!"

Kaede shouted as she called the weapon back and brandished it at the male. She was stuck watching the large corpse begin to twitch and rise causing her to curse under her breath. it just HAD to be a zombie ogre of all things. Did this kid play to much Dungeons and dragons or lack creative ideas. Either way she had to fight the Necromancer and this massive heap of flesh while protecting people and the other undead would reach them in due time.

"Totetsu, keep her safe, and If I say run don't worry about me and get that girl out of this mess. Got it?"

Moving as she spoke to stand between the two she was protecting and looking at the necromancer who only laughed and spoke in a language that made no sense to her. Either way the fight was going to start soon and she needed to decide what was going to become the bigger issue, the caster or the brute as it pulled a tree from the ground to use as a club. Why did she get into messes like this. She could run if she got onto Totetsu also, but then this mess would go to Honeyhome or elsewhere.

Chills crawled down Azykia's spine as she heard the woes of her drive-by savior directed at someone, feeling for the first time that perhaps this world could be as cold as the one she was trying to escape from. It wasn't until the woman's next declaration that she had the gall to respond. "Don't make me run and leave you like that!" She sat up on the dog and aimed with her arm. She could see the magical presence of the necromancer a lot more clearly than most of the mobs, but whatever he had raised was a pretty big target, and thus shouldn't be hard to hit.

She put her palm out towards the ogre and stared at the 'L' of her thumb and finger. Or rather, she did her best to imagine where it was based on feeling alone. This was the true pain of trying to aim without vision.

Convinced after a few seconds that she had done her best to line up the shot, a spiral of bright blue light spiraled out from her hand towards the giant undead. Within the spiral, a line bounced along it as it formed, creating a square spiral within. Then finally, she solidified a line in the middle that shot forward like a corkscrew, brighter and thicker than the two larger spirals which seemed to merely assist in her aiming as she defied even her own expectations and lanced the unidentified monster in the torso with Arcanamancy.

Taunting (taunt)

Kaede was not really expecting the newbie to desire to help, though she was thankful for it as she rushed towards the Necromancer to force him to stay and fight in close combat. Sure she would be leaving herself wide open for the large orge zombie but that was a risk she could afford in the moment. If she focused it then the horde would get here by the time she was fighting the mancer and offset the damage they could trade. Either way she swung the scythe against the caster and taunted both the threats with her words.

"Another thing, this magic is Taboo you idiot, if you have it don't go flaunting it like a exotic pet! You practice in secret, work slowly then reveal in the flashiest way you can think... Though you seem to lack much if any creative sense."

Spinning the weapon to catch most of the point black spell from the male before getting smacked against the back from the tree with an annoyed growl. She needed to rediscover some area damage, but for now the solo target things she had would float the fight. Every so often she needed to glance over for the small girl, she might have failed her friend but she was not going to let this player take another life without losing one themselves.

That said though Kaede could feel someone else watching just outside her normal sight, the magic they had roughly on par with her own if not greater in the dark and corrupt arts but no other magic made sense to her. if that person was friend or more likely foe she was in deep shit leaving either caster free, but for now they seemed to be inclined to watch, nothing more unsettling then a stalker Kaede mused to herself as she got ready for another swing of her weapon and another trade of blows.

She could have sworn, now that she thought about it, that this mystery mage had been swung at a few times already. She kept a better eye out for it, but it was difficult to say the least to tell what was going on exactly when lights were clashing with much brighter lights. She decided now was probably a better time than any to make sure that whatever was left to be fought could be fought without tragedy. Self-preservation was the reason she picked the masteries she had, but she wasn't selfish. She would use them to preserve others too--especially someone who was trying to preserve her in turn.

As much as she wanted to keep trying to dispense what she would later learn were called summons so that she could resolve this conflict and get back to a much more peaceful day of mapping out the area and trying to use her magic as a fantastical radar, she went with her gut feeling. She cast out another spiral of holy light, but this wasn't just any spiral of gold. This time it was undeniably fitting of the phrase 'Golden Ratio' as it curled around Kaede and began to undo the damage done by the desecrated dead.

It was an interesting dichotomy to bear witness to. A veteran player with awe-inspiring dark magic, and a new character with good form picking up the slack for her lack of powerful light and arcane magic. With this balance of offense and defense, it was accurate to say these undead were about to be undeadn't.

Kaede was thankful the girl was trying to support but healing was a double edged sword. Yes it helped but it also drew the focus of the Necromancer who would get a swift slash across the chest for trying to command anything to go after the little kid as Kaede growled in his face and held her weapon at the ready. This person kept talking in the strange Dialect and it was starting to piss Kaede off.

"English mother fucker do you speak it!?"

Shouted words as she countered his next spell partly with her scythe and took another smack of the tree making her stagger a little. She could roughly tell the healing she just got was burned up, though it was all welcome since it kept her from having to switch to healing and evading when time mattered. She could tell things likely would be down to the wire if she did not start throwing serious heat at the male but she was trying to prove to him a lesson that undead hoards only mattered if they kept people away from him.

Teeth grinding as the figure who was watching seemed ot find it perfectly fine to sit down and enjoy the show. Meaning they either had been a third party, OR figured Kaede and the kid would not make it out of this fight as things went the way it was. It ticked Kaede off that she was not set up for offence or high damage attacks, just counter and support. Games limited her even if she was stuck living it like real life.

"Thanks for the healing, I'll keep there two knuckle heads busy little one.~"

Little one. "H-Hey..." She muttered in objection. Not that she had time to sulk about it. Whatever was going on around her was terrifying for more than one reason, and the feeling of dread she did her best to swallow was worsened as she too finally noticed that brighter magic off on the sidelines. Before she saw that, the comparison in magical brightness was no contest considering Kaede against everyone else in the area, but that one, that one was a tip in the scales.

The little girl was hardly a battle tactician, and she barely understood how combat worked after being shown by somebody else only moments after she learned that this game even had combat in it. That was why it was difficult to continue on the current path of trying to be more useful than she really was. At this point, it might convince her savior that she was better than she actually was--that their team was undeniably the winning team.

She called over to her from atop Totetsu the Big Rune Dog. "Miss! I don't think I can keep this up much longer!" She offered first and foremost. She figured this woman might actually be enraged enough to have Totetsu take Azykia away and leave her behind like she said she planned to happen earlier, but it just didn't sit well with her. She fired another spiral shot, this time at her ally's target, hoping to help her find resolution before it found them.

Kaede had enough of this male trying to act like a big shot when there was two demons in the area compared to him. Scythe would return into Kaede's hand as it resumed acting like normal blood as the elf reached her hand out and called back her true weapon. The dark twisted blade gave off mostly bad omen vibe and with one single sweep of the weapon Kaede would reduce the necromancer in stature before looking to the undead he had brought back and watched it begin to crumble Then turning her focus to the other figure she could not fully see.

"Are we going to keep going with this fight or you just came to watch the show?"

Either way Kaede would spin her weapon watching the figure vanish and finding no trace of their magic anywhere nearby. A heavy sigh as she looked over her outfit seeing the damage she had taken before looking to Totetsu as the hound approached and laid down while shrinking to allow the child to touch the ground without risk of stumbling or struggling. Kaede taking the moment to examine the girl to ensure she was not harmed before looking at the mess that was left behind with a heavy sigh.

"Always get left with clean-up duty I swear... if you don't mind waiting for an escort back to town I'd be happy to help, but I'd rather not risk a creature eating these corpses not knowing if that other strong caster had done something to them... The was no way just that kid could keep so many under their control like they had been... I'm Kaede by the way, sorry you got caught up in some player's dark fantasy creation."

Moving as she reached both hands out to start accelerating the decay of the ogre body and the remains of the player. Part of her hoped they had another life, the other was fine if they did not because they took lives and deserved death she herself did one day if she did not atone enough for her past crimes. Looking to the girl Kaede took note of a few things and wondered them to herself for a moment, she was either a lander who got to curious or a player that was still new and curious also. Either way she would not mind having the company while she cleaned the mess.

Events transpired, the Animancy dotting her vision came and went, and as she was lowered down to safety atop the ground once more she brushed herself off. The young girl shivered momentarily.

"Kaede. I'm-... My name is Azykia." She gave a small bow. She wasn't trying to emulate her real-life habits in this world, honest. It was just how shining with magic this woman was that made her a bit more careful not to disrespect her on accident. Her pupil-less eyes faced the dark mage's direction, but didn't truly get a good lock on where her face was. She was even squinting, as though looking at her was painful. "Thanks for saving me. I-" She visibly shuddered again. "I thought the area around Honeyhome was supposed to be safe. Is that... not truly the case?"

The girl looked down momentarily as she recalled something that Kaede had said, but before she could touch on that other topic it reminded her that she now had time to tend to wounds.
With another healing spiral tossed out carefully, she tried to make it known in every way that she could that she wasn't Kaede's enemy in any measure.

Kaede would wave her hands at the girl being so formal, she also felt bad that the kid got caught in the mess and now had doubts about the area as the veteran nervously laughed. She wanted to help clear up the issue but she also did not know much about this side of the forest as it was normally outside her jurisdiction outside medical deliveries. Moving to refocus on her work before her body would snap and pop while her wounds mended themselves with the aid of her Animancy taking note the girl could not see well.

"Normally yes it is peaceful I'm told, and it was when I first started playing also... But there is always those times when a player gets to big for their britches. Also pleasure to meet you Kia-chan.~"

Kaede would walk over to pat the little girl's head before going back to resuming her work with decomposing the bodies taking a possession or two to bring back to the Landers so they could mourn the losses a bit better and have closure if they believed her words and most did not. Either way she would try, and Totetsu would be busy trying to get Azykia's attention by cuddling up to her and trying to rub her head under the girl's hand as if asking to be petted while the other woman was busy.

"So, please tell me someone has gave you warning about this game and deaths? Also thanks for the healing and support, you did not have to worry about any of that. I've got bad luck when it comes to getting killed in the fact I keep making it out of things I should not ha-ha..."

Kaede would muse aloud as she moved to the next cluster of the undead that would have reached them sooner or later and started working there after a silent prayer for her lost friend. Yet another one she outlived even when she deserved death more then them. A heavy sigh as she was yet to know what Fate's grand plan for her was in this world as she finished and moved to the last of the hoards with a heavy heart.

The younger girl probably would have felt worse about not helping with cleanup duty if not for the fact she couldn't even tell what needed to be cleaned up in the first place, so she was as content to let her hand brush over the rune dog's head over and over as she was to continue speaking to this person. She had far too many questions far too quickly for her comfort. Of course, most of them would have to take a back seat to the much more obviously pressing topic at hand.

"Please don't call that bad luck, Kaede. I feel fortunate that both of us made it out of that. There was a lot of magic everywhere." Which reminded her. "Which reminds me, before I impose on you too much further... I owe you at least as much as explaining to you that I can't actually see." She blinked a couple times in rapid succession, looking down at Totetsu for a few seconds.

"Forgive me. I've never played a game of this sort before. When you die... Well, I hadn't considered it before now too heavily, but doesn't that mean you have to make a new character?"

Kaede could only nervously chuckle at Azykia who had no idea exactly WHY Kaede was calling it bad luck. Then again only a very small handful of players that got locked into the game knew she was the reason some of them got culled during the four years, and why others had so many death affinities it was almost a mercy to end their life rather then force them to keep living it. That said though Kaede would tap the girl on the head when she mentioned she was blind confirming Kaede's hypothesis.

"You are fine, I sort of drew that in mind when we first crossed paths and started to confirm it when the fighting was over with. As for death in this game it does not mean a new character... You... Each time you die are given what is called a 'death affinity' That is based around how you died. So getting crushed or eaten alive might give you a fear of small spaces. After three deaths in the game your... real world self dies some reason or another and you become locked within the game."

Kaede would pause for a bit to let the anchor settle at the false bottom of the chain's reach, there was more to add to the scary side of the game and she hated being the one who had to tell new players to make sure they did not make the same mistakes she had.

"You end up what the MIT, a group of players call 'UI-Locked' a state where anything to do with the UI is turned off. Game assist, pain dampener, inventory space, bars to track meters like health, food, sleep, etc. Nobody knows the how or why, or if there is a way back to the real world. Take it from someone stuck here five years going on six in a few months..."

Kaede's face was dark as she let the chain fully drop on the anchor of truth. She kept a serious tone the entire time and even though the girl could not see, her posture, expression, and air around her all gave away this was not some joke older players told the new ones so they did not get to big and thing themselves invincible. With all if it said though, Kaede would bite back her dislike of talking about the matter in favor of if this newbie had question about it.

If one had never believed that information overload could shut down someone's entire brain, all that person needed to do was see Azykia in this moment to become a believer. As she stared towards where the veteran's voice had mentioned becoming locked in the game, the hand petting Totetsu had stopped in place for as long as she spent considering it.

Even having it explained to her, it was difficult to chew on mentally. Could something like that really happen? This game was particularly lifelike, certainly, but to think that dying in real life meant you could still play this game was a thought that equally terrified and invigorated Azykia more and more as she thought about it.

Her doubts were swallowed quickly if not only for the moment and Kaede's sake as the woman so sharply mentioned that she was a victim of this 'becoming UI-locked', and had been that way for years at this point. Even the blind girl had to extend her sympathies at this point. "I am... not even sure how to begin apologizing for such a circumstance." Her manner of speaking didn't fit her age or general appearance all of a sudden. Well, more than before anyways.

"Please accept my sincerest condolences, to you and your friend both." She bowed respectfully with a practiced tact.
