With a smile, Lucia would nod along, a little worried about the prospect of more real life work, but she certainly trusted Luna's ability. "Okay, if you put that much thought into it we can make things work when you're home." She spoke with a small nod. Of course with Luna wanting to be better and evolve, Lucia would help with it if she could. It was usually this type of thing that Lucia was good at at the very least, empowering and rebuilding things had almost become her niche in the game with how she needed to reinforce her subordinates and the player base.

After a while longer of relaxing and staying comfortable, Lucia would let the Wraith King teach Luna some skills after she was loosened up. Deciding to teach her the direct and firm style of punches and kicks, the wraith tried to coach and lead her through motions until the game could condition her body to use them naturally. It was a strong and forceful method of combat, though not one the Wraith often engaged in, it was something that they decided would suit Luna well. From start to finish trying to encourage her to fight in a way that each action carries force and momentum from her whole body.

By the time they were done, Lucia finalized a destination, however sudden she decided it would be one of the best locations and creatures at least. "I think the best place to find this particular item would be deeper in the woods where the sun doesn't reach. There's a place beneath the star leaves that has a material that might work." Lucia murmured in thought. "We should be able to find a shard of night at least, even if there isn't an edge of night." Lucia offered with a small nod. She had an objective for Luna to try and develop a system of power at least. She hoped it would also give the girl some inspiration if they found it. "Are you ready?" She'd ask wondering if she was still tired from practice.

Luna nodded. "Don't worry about it too much, I'll take care of the really big important stuff anyway. I don't even know if it'll make your own workload any harder or more substantial than it is currently. We can discuss that kind of thing in the real world though." It was weird to be able to use her experience at business school to help somebody she admired and respected so much, but anything she could do to repay the woman's kindness and teachings, she would.

And if it gave Lucia more reasons to remain invested in the real world? Then that was just an extra, extremely welcome bonus to the whole thing.

After a while of relaxing, though, eventually Luna was beckoned to stand up to begin her training with Mortimer. The style he was teaching her was a very direct and firm one, it felt honestly a little weird doing something so solid and structured when the memory of how timid she had once been remained firmly glued in the back of her mind. Still, she went through the motions as accurately as she could, repeating them over and over again.

When she had finished, she was quite sore, though she didn't know if she'd made much progress, nobody had yelled at her for doing things wrong, so she was quite pleased. She wondered if Lucia had enjoyed the show or not. Though she didn't have long to wonder that, because Lucia had already come up with an idea to get her started on the road to figuring out how she could make her powers truly work.

"The place you're describing sounds really pretty." She smiled, before nodding when Lucia asked if she was ready. "I'm good. I think the walk there will be enough to give me some rest. Unless we're not walking?" She remembered the carriage that Vivian had. Did Lucia have anything similar to that?

Exploration Details

Let's do an average basic attack for salvage progress and 1d20 for an exploration event. When a creature dies, half of it's HP will be added to progress.

- 1-2 Monster Encounter!
- 3-9 Beast Encounter!
- 10-17 Nothing Unusual
- 18-20 Chance Encounter!

With a warm smile Lucia nodded along having enjoyed her short break and a cup of coffee while Luna worked. Only when she seemed to have developed enough of a style to be stable would Lucia finally consider leaving. Thinking on the place they were going, she flashed a bit of a bitter smile, pretty maybe, but dangerous as well. "It looks nice, though it's a little eerie. It gives the impression the sky is a lot lower then it is." Lucia tried to describe, the trees and stars were peculiar after all. Though when it came time to go she would beckon for Luna to join her. "Morgana."

She called out, that same drowned pirate would eventually force herself up from the ground, still visibly exhausted, but not refusing the call. "Aye... Very well. We heading to the witching woods eh?" The pirate would ask, as she hobbled over, the boat would once more rise and come around. Giving the gilded pirate some relief when she was off the ground. The woman wanted to take out a cigar, but settled for a large glass decanter of brown liquor instead pouring it down her mouth even if it spilled or sloshed about from holes in her body and cheek.

The boat would take them, Lucia stroking the girl's hair and ears en route. She would be relatively quiet and relaxed during the journey, all the while though she would be a bit leery as the scenery gradually changed from normal woods grasses and brush into more fantastical trees that let starlight shine through their leaves and eerie mists lingering in the air. After a while of entering the sense of danger would gradually grow as they left the territory Lucia carved out and entered another foreign territory. Lucia would give a soft whisper of warning. "If you see a big one hanging over the trees with glowing eyes, we're going to run from him." Lucia offered with a warm smile, not terribly afraid but knowing it wasn't something to face head on.

It did sound quite nice, to be under a closer sky, though she could understand why some people would consider that to be something eerie. Either way, Luna couldn't wait to see it for herself, feeling like she was practically vibrating with excitement when Lucia summoned Morgana once again and the two of them were able to board the pirate's boat and they 'set sail' for the destination that Lucia had decided on.

The journey there was actually exceptionally peaceful and it gave her and Lucia a chance to really reconnect in this world, though the woman seemed to be paying a lot of attention to her ears and tail, though Luna didn't mind. They were quite sensitive, but she didn't mind, since Lucia was nice and gentle with them. The woman was nearly always gentle with her now. A far cry from the woman that had, quite literally, whipped her into shape, during her old training.

Though when they reached the destination, Luna could feel the shift in Lucia's energy as something about this place put the woman on edge. It did look kind of creepy, but at the same time, Luna couldn't see it as anything other than beautiful. It was so dark and mysterious, like a star filled night sky! Though she nodded at Lucia's warning. "Gotcha. Run from a big one with glowing eyes. That sounds easy enough."

Lucia nodded with a smile, things should at the very least be pretty safe for them if they stuck together. The only one that Lucia was ever weary of was the big one that tended to wander and trample about here and there. Though as they went through Lucia kept her eyes clear and peeled for any movement or actions from any kind of enemy.

There were occasional figures, but Lucia was used to the normal ones, lurking silhouettes with yellow eyes the size of people were common, harmless most of the time. It was the harmful ones she was being weary of. By the time they ended up finding a dangerous element though, it appeared that something else got to it first. Luna and Lucia would be able to see a thick black silhouette, like an upright standing ink slime, rather then standing though it was laying on the ground being picked apart by a large golden tiger. The creature glanced up at them, but itself being equally non-hostile to humans would merely take a glance at Luna before going back down to tare into the black figure taring apart it's almost frog-like skin to get to the meat inside.

"Ah, those are the creatures that lurk in the area you need to watch out for. I didn't think there were big cats here though." Lucia mused letting Luna know those silhouettes with frog-like skin were common enemies even if one seemed to have been taken down for a Tiger's meal.

It was definitely strange to know that Lucia was being wary of something, since for all the time that she'd known the woman, Lucia had been strong and confident and wise, even in ways that perhaps Yuan didn't come across as in the real world. To see Lucia keeping her eyes peeled, in a way that could be seen as nervous? It was definitely nervewracking for Luna, even as she was enraptured by the beauty of this place that Lucia had taken her to.

Though that beauty was broken up a little when they came across some kind of golden tiger feasting on the corpse of some black, inky thing that Luna just couldn't identify. The skin seemed to be pretty frog-like, so perhaps it was easy to assume that the creatures were amphibians. They were threats, if Lucia was telling her to be wary of them, though apparently not apex predators, as the tiger had so demonstrated.

And the way it looked at her almost made Luna tear up and choke with emotion, though she swallowed it all back down and cleared her thoat. "Let's keep going." She began to walk, not wanting to have to deal with any more memories of Natiri.

When she saw Luna's reaction, Lucia raised a hand to her hair gently ruffling it, even scratching behind her ears. Hoping to reassure the girl, she took time to console her thoughts as she seemed to think of the past again at the sight of the creature. "Hey, it's okay. You're alright." She murmured, Luna would be okay, the pain hurt certainly but with the loss she would grow further and be better. It wouldn't replace or heal any of that pain but she felt the girl would overcome.

As Luna finally calmed down, Lucia tried to hold her hand instead for a good while as they continued their trek deeper in, fortunately it seemed they hadn't come across any of the more dangerous elements. Though seeing Luna underestimating the frog-like creatures she couldn't help a dry and bitter chuckle. "They aren't scary when they're alone, but those ones are like the tadpoles." Lucia advised, the human sized silhouettes were merely infants, infants that at times could appear in the hundreds or thousands. "They also eat anything that moves, which is why the woods are typically quiet in this area. The big one is more dangerous." She explained, that was the one she was on edge over, fleeing from that beast wasn't ever an easy proposal. "Luckily it's been pretty quiet, no big waves, no trouble." Lucia smiled content with it.

Lucia's hand in her hair ruffling it and scratching behind her ears helped her calm down a little bit more, as did the woman's murmured platitudes and comforts to her. It was really painful to be reminded of the close companion that she'd lost to time, but then, she supposed that Lucia possible went through that kind of pain whenever something reminded her of the people that she'd lost. After all, there had been more than just Luna in Lucia's camp, once upon a time, four years ago.

She swallowed, trying to stuff down that emotion, until she flashed Lucia a shaky smile. "I'm okay now. Really. Thank you, though." She put on a brave face for the woman and continued onwards, listening to Lucia as the woman explained why she was wary of these things in this place. Whatever this big one was, Luna wasn't sure that she wanted to find it, given how little Lucia was often wary of or worried about things.

"Do you think we could take the big one if it showed up?"

Lucia mused, rubbing her chin in discomfort at the thought of finding that big monster amphibian. "It would be tough, usually it's not worth fighting him alone, but with you we'd do better at least." Lucia nodded along it would certainly be easier, alone it often led to things being a very pyrrhic victory with her losing a great number of paladins in the process or one of her superior level undeads being injured in the clash. It made her exhale in discomfort knowing that those types of creatures weren't necessarily uncommon either. "Those types of field bosses are always a threat, no matter how strong you get, think of them as a way to check you and remind you that taking this game alone is difficult." Lucia explained with a shrug of her shoulders. Even with her undead it was still an unpleasant fight after all.

After a while of walking though the creatures finally began catching wind of them. Luna would be able to hear Lucia's discomforted sigh as they started climbing past trees and out of bushes to see them. Unlike the one being eaten by the tiger, these were quite alive, with fog and moisture still billowing out form their bodies like a black fog as they moved like crouched gremlins. That gross slimy frog-like skin covering their form as they began their attack

Once they approached though they'd attack without hesitation, rearing back and firing compressed streams of the black moisture at Lucia and Luna in ambush.

Well it was a relief to know that Lucia at least felt better about their odds against whatever the big one was than she did alone, so that meant that Luna would be worth something in this fight. And it wasn't as a meat shield, since Lucia had basically as many of those as a person could possibly want or need, if not more. Or at least, she had, at one point. Luna wasn't sure if Lucia had completely restored her army to what it once was. Still, she smiled and nodded to Lucia. "If we run into it, I'll do my best!"

And that was when they were attacked by those frog monsters from a little earlier before, only this time they were alive and spitting whatever that black liquid was at them. Luna nearly retched. "Ew, what is this stuff!?" She turned to look at the one that had spat at her, focusing. Martial Arts gave her the ability to access her chi, didn't it?

And Aura gave her the ability to project it outwards.

The tigress was suddenly surrounded by an aura of black, twinkling with shards of light, like a star filled sky. This aura, thick and oppressive, slammed down against the frog monster that had attacked her, pressing it to the ground like it was gravity made manifest.

Lucia didn't hesitate to swipe the liquid off of her coat as best she could. It was a rough blunt impact but fortunately wasn't poisonous. "It's nothing dangerous, it's like a pressurized burst is all." Lucia explained, it probably wasn't the cleanest thing to get on your face or mouth but at least it was non-toxic. Wanting to help though, she lifted her hand with a firm breath. "Sylvanas. take care of one." She spoke trying to call her knight.

In response, the undead soldier would fall, as if having flown, crashing towards the beast Luna had attacked in an effort to deal some damage. Though after dealing the blow it would retreat backwards to the knight would try to support Lucia defensively.

The creatures once again tried unloading their spit, squirting a pressurized stream once more. Though the injured one seemed to flare up and become a bit more ferocious in what would normally be it's final moments even going as far as to wail and roar. Lucia at first was content, it looked like they'd be able to clean things up and peacefully make it to the center. It was a nice rare endeavor into the witching woods when things went according to plan.

That was at least until the heavy reverberation of bass could be heard not far making Lucia stiffen. "This... Sylvanas, we're running, Luna, let's go hurry." Lucia spoke even as the reverberation echoed out once more, the sounds of trees being bent and pushed over could be heard as a heavy body began coming barreling in their direction from not so far away. "Go!" Lucia would call louder just as the creature began to peak from the trees, a large monstrous shadow midway through it's evolution it seemed that let out horrifying croaks from it's maw. The moment it's head came into view it's mouth would part vomiting a tsunami of that pressurized fluid over them. Lucia instantly became paranoid of Luna's safety, but seeing as the attack was strangely weak compared to normal, she felt Luna would be alright.

"It's slow, if we run while killing the little ones we should be fine." Lucia grunted before trying to take off with Luna if the girl was still dazed she'd grab her arm if she had to.

This was going so incredibly wrong! Luna barely had a chance to scream in panic before the creature she'd been attacking managed to overpower her Aura, rise to its feet, roar at her and spray her with more of whatever that pressurized liquid. The tigress screamed in pain as the fluid tore skin from her body, leaving badly bruised flesh and cuts.

And then it all got worse as the large one appeared, whilst Luna was still being battered by pressurized fluid, unleashing an attack of its own that made Luna scream in agony, tears rising in her eyes as more cuts and lascerations appeared all over her body from the pressurized fluid, practically a tsunami that washed her away. Her only saving grace was that she had managed to lash out with a hand and break some important ribs in the first frog monster's chest, probably destroying an organ or two as it collapsed.

And that was when something grabbed her arm, Luna wheeling in a panic before realizing that @Lucia Mierz was trying to pull her into a run. "It hurts!" She screamed out, clutching at her side, where a chunk of flesh had been cut deep into by the pressurized fluid.

Seeing Luna able to stand, Lucia was a bit relieved. There was naturally a reason she had reservations about the heavy shade monster chasing them. It was for all intents and purposes very strong. Considering how lucky they'd been early on, if this fight had happened earlier, it would have been a disaster. Fortunately they were close enough, and the Matriarch wouldn't be able to keep up with them for long. "Just focus on running. You're okay, I promise." Lucia reassured the best she could while keeping a firm hold on Luna's arm.

Naturally, glancing back, she met eyes with her undead knight, the elven woman nodded back and taking a wild swing at the last small one that was keeping pace with them. The spear would cleave deep into the creature but not enough to stop it or slow it by much as it continued to give chase.

The creatures gave chase to the best of their ability, while the Heavy Matriarch was still within range to continue using it's pressurized spray, the smaller ones were much faster and able to keep pace making them more of a threat as they ran. The matriarch dragging it's body while the smaller ones dashed behind, all trying to attack with pressurized sprays but the large volume of vomit that had been used before seemed thinner then before, as if it had run out of stored fluid for the massive attack it launched previously.

With Lucia pulling her into a run, Luna was panicked, feeling her wounds bleeding and protesting as each movement jerked and pulled at them. Each time it sent a lance of pain through her body as she was made all too aware of the pursuing creatures, though she couldn't slow down to check how close to the two women they were. All she could do was pump her legs in a dead panic and hope that they managed to outpace the creatures.

Though it became clear that, at the very least, the smaller creature was fast enough for them to be unable to just outrun it, as she watched more of those liquids collide with Lucia. A stab of guilt flowed through Luna. Why had she gotten so cocky and allowed herself to be caught off guard? Now Lucia was stuck babysitting her again, just like the old days.

She froze in her sprint, turning around to lash out with a sudden, unexpected haymaker that slammed into the pursuing frog monster, before she continued with her sprint.

With some heavy breathing the moment Luna managed to strike it, Lucia nodded relieved. "Sylvanas, end it." She tried to insist, the knight naturally slamming the butt of her spear into the back of the creature's head before following up behind them to ensure nothing else followed. There were creatures lurking in the shadows, and certainly the matriarch's roaring reverberations continued to echo out but had drifted beyond the tree line as they kept running.

It wouldn't take long for them to come to an area where things had gone quiet, nearly absolutely silent. shrouded in shadow with hanging lights and stars in the forms of glossy fruits with phosphorescent fibers and leaves that likewise had a faint glow to them. Lucia caught her breath and rested a hand on Luna's head, trying to gradually heal her when they finally did come to a stop. It was a relief that they made it out of the dangerous portions at least.

"This space is safer, the bright fruits and leaves drive the creatures away." Lucia explained as she kept healing. Though if Luna asked why, Lucia would crane her neck as she explained. "They're in this place because they're really vulnerable to light, all light even. The woods are dark enough to shelter them, but these lights are particularly harsh to them, and also happens to produce what we're looking for as a biproduct." Lucia explained with a small nod, a gentle smile, wanting Luna to know the effort wasn't for nothing, they'd made it to the place they needed to.

With it all over, though they kept running, Luna felt like she could start to breathe a sigh of relief, especially when they had managed to reach a place that was, once again, serenely quiet and she could no longer hear the lumbering footsteps of the big one chasing after them. Her chest heaved with each breath as air filled her lungs, the tigress doubled over with her hands on her knees, a hand raising up to wipe the sweat from her brow.

They were surrounded by different glowing fruits, which Lucia explained, as the woman placed a hand on Luna's head and began to slowly heal her. The tigress sighed in relief, feeling her wounds beginning to close and fade away one by one, lacerations and ripped skin being restored slowly by the necromancer.

"So you mean we're here for some of these glowing fruit? Is that how I'm supposed to start making my origin, or whatever it was you were talking about earlier?" She wasn't totally sure she understood completely what Lucia was thinking. Was she supposed to just eat a bunch of these things and hope for the best or something? She looked around at all of the different fruit, humming in thought. They DID look pretty tasty.

Letting the girl calm down and double over, Lucia continued trying to heal her with a sigh, exchanging between Divine Magic and Animancy to do so to ensure she didn't overly stress her body or her spirit with one or the other. Once the girl was finally calm enough to gauge their surroundings Lucia glanced up at the fruits in thought. "The fruits are a nice bonus they'll certainly help things settle, they wouldn't be a bad consolation prize either but what we're looking for is a flower, with matching patterns you can see. That's the one that usually has the energy we're looking for." She spoke stroking the girl's head.

"The fruit though, are nice for making that energy a bit better, like a mana potion normally, but if you're trying to focus on making an origin it'll help give the energy to do so." Lucia offered with a gentle smile. When Luna was ready she'd offer the girl a hand to take her through the clearing and start searching. While Lucia herself was also happy to look with her, she wasn't at all in a rush after coming across a matriarch, it was best to relax and heal for now at least less they burn themselves out. Lucia did her best to be mindful that they would have to also leave the way they came, and those types of preparations were just as important as getting here now that Luna understood the types of foes they were dealing with.

Luna didn't really know enough to be able to differentiate between the two different types of magic that were being used to heal her, at least not through feeling alone, though she was sure that if she were able to see Lucia's hand on top of her head, she'd be able to tell which magic was being used by whatever color the magic glowed or whatever. This did remind her that she needed to look into figuring out some kind of gadget that would allow her to heal people too, like a regeneration unit or something.

"A flower huh? What makes this flower so special and full of energy?" This whole place was foreign and alien, with glowing fruits and apparently flowers with matching patterns or something like that. It definitely sold the idea that they were in a fantasy video game.

Luna hesitantly reached for a glowing fruit, shaped exactly like an apple, before hesitantly biting into it. Even after being told they had energy, it was still a surprise to see her energy meter actually increasing each time she swallowed a chunk of the fruit. "Okay, I'm ready now." Her HP wasn't quite full, but it was close enough that she felt safe, taking Lucia by the hand as the two began to slowly explore until they found the flower that Lucia had mentioned.

Lucia continued the healing effort until finishing, though the question about the flower made her chuckle. "It's probably not as complicated as you might think. The flowers are sort of the first stage of the fruit, once the flower is pollinated it grows into a fruit that falls off and makes a new tree. So you can think of Fruits as a stable star that can give you good amounts of star energy, but the fruit is the beginning stage, if you're forming a star internally the flower will be able to help since it's a beginning star itself." She explained gesturing to the glittering fruits that hung in the trees creating starlights. Of course there were dangers such as finding over ripened fruits, they burst with intense heat and power like grenades, but Lucia would be a bit more careful for Luna after the Matriarch encounter.

Once Luna was ready though it would be an exhausting process to find a flower, the trees were working against them a lot of the time, with fruits forming and falling interfering with their efforts. While the trees weren't sentient they did have defense mechanisms. Even an event on the scale of the Matriarch occurring in the form of a bee's nest swarming them. While dangerous though they were able to handle it a lot better after the wake up call of the earlier encounter. Unfortunately killing all of the bees was impossible, but at least fighting them back until the large monster bees wouldn't interfere any more was an easier task.

When they finally found one, Lucia would grab onto Luna's shoulder to stop her before reaching up to gingerly pluck it from a tree branch. She would be careful with it, not because it was delicate, instead, Lucia had a thin veil of sweat as if handling a volatile explosive concoction. "This is it. It's very sensitive, so be careful. Just sit down, hold it in your hands and focus on it and pull the energy from it little by little with Astramancy. If that's too hard you can use the UI to make it a little easier but it's best not to rush things like that." She tried to offer and instruct offering Luna the small flower.

Ah, that did make sense, yes. If they were looking for something that was supposed to be the beginning of her own internal star, whatever that meant, then it would make sense that they would look for something that was the beginning of something else. In this case, the flower, being the precursor to the fruit, would be the core from which she built herself around. And in a way, it was fitting, as Luna remembered the flower accessory that she always used to wear over her eye on her old avatar. Something that had become a staple of her image back then.

It was definitely a process to actually find the flower that they needed, with a lot of different things seeming to get in the way, such as falling fruits that would explode with bursts of heat and energy. There was even a swarm of bees, which had definitely been unfortunate and Luna had been forced to rapidly learn to rely on her pyromancy to deal with them instead.

And when they finally laid eyes on the flower, Luna had been about to surge forth and pick it, before Lucia had grabbed her shoulder and held her back, plucking it and handling it like it would explode at any moment. Luna swallowed, eyeing the flower, before nodding and sitting down with her legs crossed, her hands cupped in her lap with the flower resting gently in her palms, reaching out with her Astramancy to slowly pluck energy from the flower. If the energy were a desert of sand, Luna was plucking individual grains, particle by particle, sweating as she focused on not setting off an explosive in her own lap.
