Perhaps he should have not taken off by himself and stuck with a party instead. He was a brilliant person, but sometimes his not so positive traits seemed to get the better of him. Thus how he ended up on his way to Gaxus Lone Palace quite literally by himself. He was by no means some newbie that set off stubbornly by himself-- okay so perhaps he had been when he first came into the game. Yet that was before everything had changed, now he just wanted to explore it all. He didn't care if there was a quest or task attached to something or not, he just simply went off and did things as he wished. This was perhaps the first time he had decided to take upon something remotely in concern to something other than pure and utter curiosity.

Being alone of course would put a target on one's back, but he thought he would be fine for anything that might come his way. Except he wasn't going after rabbits or even bigger game-- bandits had set their sights on him and he wasn't quick enough to face off a group of them. This ended with a tossed away clump that was the silver haired elf. The sneaky shits had gotten a jump on him and ambushed him. It was almost as if they thought he held some greater importance than he did -- or perhaps they were desperate. Now should it be Camus' ego, he was someone who held great importance-- thus it was right to be a target. "No... they should know better than to target someone like me."

To say that Camus was sane... would be quite the lie. This would apply to him and his player. All because of a little stow away in his mind, it made Camus speak to himself as if someone would answer him. That someone did answer a lot of the time.. just not where anyone else could hear-- only Camus. "They will pay." That was when the seed had been planted. The silver haired elf fuming as he got up. "I know the leader, don't let them fool you-- they are the mastermind behind it all. Go after them." And thus Camus had the person who he believed was responsible for this ambush on him. Except little to his knowledge he had been played for a fool. Being sent towards another target.

Camus had been pointed in a general direction, told what this so called mastermind might look like. He could hear the sound of the wind blowing around him, and the almost beckoning of things that were a tad darker-- his hemomancy the cause of that. He didn't mind being around this place, if anything perhaps he liked this region the most of all those he had so much as brushed through. Now according to this tip of this master mind's route-- they should be coming through this area. He went to take his spot to watch, hidden amongst the rocky terrain. Crimson eyes watching and waiting. To him this person was the mastermind and he would stop at nothing to get back at his attackers-- no matter what.

Devi let out a massive yawn as she stretched her arms in the air. It has been quite the journey. She had expected as much, though, as her current client was upfront about the job, what seemed like just another run-of-the-mill "protect the convoy" quest, except there was no convoy, just a rich dude with zero faith in his own men. What is it with nobles and hiring mercenaries to protect them? Hmm... Should I even care?

"You should really invest in better armor for your dudes, my dude. Or maybe better dudes."

There were only four of them when they started the journey, excluding the client and the fiery fighter. After a tussle with some bandits, only four of them remained, this time including the client and Devi. Two sadly passed, succumbed to the fight. Devi wasn't a healer, and as much as she wanted to keep everyone alive, she could only do so much. "I want to avenge them," her blonde client suddenly said, the smell of youth and inexperience ripe from him, mixed in with a bit of fearful anxiety and ill-advised bravado. "We should find the bandits and tear them apart!"

"I mean..." Devi sneered, taking a quick look at his remaining two men, both obviously afraid and uncertain about their commitment to their master's idea. "If you're willing to pay extra, I'd be down, though you may want to get more men first."

As soon as she finished her suggestion, however, she squinted toward the rocky terrain, her eyes searching for something she wasn't even sure what. Devi instinctively took a defensive stance, pushing her client behind her. She may not be the most aware of her peers, but she did have something that helped her... hear magic. This sound was strange. It reminded her of sloshing water, hydromancy, except it was much thicker than water. Oil?

"You two! Check those rocks over there... I don't think we're alone."

Devi readied her knuckles for what could be an ambush, balling them into fists, despite the fact that she had a massive greatsword strapped to her back. She rarely used it for these situations, though, as she rarely even used the damned thing as an actual greatsword.

Devi preferred to smash skulls in with it, utilizing its reach to her advantage, as if it were more of a poleaxe or a quarterstaff mace. Much easier to defend her source of income with her fists, and if need be, her feet. These things ran through her mind as she watched the remaining two of their companions, her client's own men, become prey to whatever was out there.
