Kyanna's eyes opened widely seeing @MAI letting out steams and seeming to be unmoving. Her gaze went up and down to her girlfriend, with worry building up as she gulped and took a step closer, leaning in. "M... MAI..?" She asked, but MAI soon coughed and turned at her slowly, with a thumb up and a report of 'conclusion'.

"Internal? Stabilized?" Kyanna sighed, looking at MAI with a fond but still worried smile.

"Alright, we aren't doing this again, okay?" She said, looking at the peppers with a frown and then clapping to catch the attention of the magitech owl.

"Noctua! Collect some of those peppers!" The small owl flied down, using its beak to cut the banana-sized peppers, tossing them into a bag it held with its claws.

"Seems like it is one less ingredient. Three to go..! But... How did it feel? Is it tasty at all?" Kyanna asked, crossing her arms while maintaining a watchful gaze on MAI. Perhaps her question was more out of concern than of curiosity.

Not doing this again - That was a fair assessment. Even without Kyanna knowing the state of MAI's taste buds and other internal machinery. Though she did ask about that, in a way, so the magia opted to not hide her currently somewhat sub-optimal state, all the while her eyes fixated on the mechanical owl of her own creation, observing the little thing at work after it was commanded by the witch.

"Characterization - After the pepper overloaded this unit's internal heat sensors and caused them to malfunction - a state in which they remain, unable to detect any feeling from this unit's throat - a substantial sweet sensation has taken hold. This unit would not mind if this taste was the dominant one in prepared produce."

And that was really about it. There was no bitterness like before, only a hellfire on the way to sweet heaven. Certainly an interesting challenge for anyone who enjoyed their spicy peppers.

"Confession - This unit is happy for the lack of bodily fluids present in humans, there is no need for abundance of milk or countless tissues…"

Kyanna blinked listening to the description of what exactly happened. She couldn't really translate what that would mean if all of this happened in a body made out of flesh and bones, but it surely didn't sound appealing. At least not until the mention of the sweet sensation came up, which made her rub her chin.

"So it is a high risk, high reward kind of pepper. I think now I understand why it is part of the recipe. Perhaps it somehow removes the intensity of the spiciness, making something sweeter with a hint of spiceness instead of the other way around." She hummed, pondering about the possibilites, and even ordering Noctua to grab a bit more of those peppers. She would love to try something herself, though she would need to be cautious about the potential damages that any tasting attempt could bring.

A giggle then escaped Kyanna's lips when @MAI mentioned her relief for the lack of bodily fluids, which made her cross her arms.

"I do wonder if said 'lack of bodily fluids' interferred in the way your body reacted to the spiceness... But also, I wonder if milk would've been able to tone down the spiceness in... Wait! Right! I could use milk to reduce the spiceness!"
She chirped in a moment of epiphany.

It certainly made sense that what they wanted to create would somehow mitigate the intense spiciness of the pepper… or, alternatively, heavily lean into it to create the world's spiciest meal. At this point, she would not be entirely surprised if there were players or even landers who mained the chef class and used their culinary arts for mass destruction and conquest of this vast, mysterious world.

But it seemed that Kyanna might have already had some ideas of her own, and proposed a somewhat amusing question in regards as to how the pepper might have affected a non-magia player. Ultimately, MAI figured the results would be pretty similar in most aspects. Yes, she might have been made out of synthetic materials, but she was still made in such a way as to perfectly simulate the human experience.

"Unlikely - This unit does not believe that endless waves of snot and tears would meaningfully interfere with the taste of the pepper and its effects on the body, unless said fluids were to be allowed to be produced freely and without any obstacles… in which case - gross."

Kyanna frowned at @MAI "Ew."

Was the only thing she could say and think about the whole idea of snot mixing with tears endlessly. Dealing with fungi in daily basis sounded like a much more healthy and clean thing to do, somehow.

"Bodily fluids are really disgusting. Maybe I should mutate my whole body to become a plant!" Kyanna clasped her hands, and Noctua flied to land on her hat.

"You can be a robot woman, and I become a tree woman." She giggled, then paused to take a look around.

"I haven't seen a single sight of mandragoras. I wonder if there are none around here..? The climate looks fitting for it, but I can't see any." Kyanna admitted, continuing her pursuit for the other plants, taking MAI's hand to guide her.

Her yes shifted around, and for the time being, there was no sight of any mandragora. At least none having their distinct leaves appeared nearby.

Most bodily fluids were kinda gross, yes. Mostly because they were not meant to be leaving the body in such excess, and the gross out was a form of a defensive system to ensure that they stop being where they should not be.

And while MAI was sure that Kyanna would manage to turn herself into the most beautiful Alraune, it was probably not a great idea to go through with. So while the magia was fairly confident that it was meant to be nothing more than just a joke, she still shook her head.

"Cation - As we have seen with players being turned into magia in the fallen Dragonship, transforming oneself into another form of life is generally ill-advised. This unit hopes that Kyanna will refrain from such experiments."

As for Mandragoras, it made sense to MAI that they would be rare, even in an environment where they would thrive.

"Assumption - Due to their dangerous abilities, a lack of rarity would likely result to constant Mandragora screaming due to many of them being pulled out by players and wildlife unaware of what they are."

Kyanna laughed heartily when @MAI responded with her caution warning, which prompted her to dearly embrace the magia in a tight hug. "I am joking, silly!" She said, giving another squeeze before leaning away, holding her shoulders. "I wouldn't do such a thing, unless I feel like it would be safe and reversible." Kyanna reassured before letting her go, pondering once again about the mandragoras.

"So you think their rarity is tied to their danger, huh?" Kyanna crossed her arms.

"That makes sense. Imagine getting deaf right as you play the game because you pulled something wrong. Actually, getting deaf is the least of your worries if things really go badly with a mandragora." She mulled over it. Now that she was stopping to think about it, the mandragoras were going to be a much bigger deal than she expected.

Would her Nature Magic and her herbalism skills be enough to handle those ear-piercing tubers?

"When we get to find one, you will need to stay at a safe distance and let me handle it by myself. I will need you unscathed in case things go wrong, alright love?"

The hug was rather unexpected. It seemed that Kyanna took MAI's worry more seriously than what was expected. But that was also good in a certain way. At least there was the confirmation that she would not be doing anything too reckless involving her magic and her physical body… perhaps she has learned her lesson after the corrupting effects that have shown especially during the strain of fighting Szofrit.

As for the Mandragoras, well… there was really only one possible answer she could give to the other girl after hearing something so silly.

"Warning - Unreasonable request detected. Request denied. This unit will remain nearby to render assistance in the event of unforeseen dangers from the Mandragora."

Now that this was cleared up, they just needed to actually find one. Which was so far proving itself to be easier said than done. But then again, this was a pretty nice stroll through the woods, so if nothing else, it was an enjoyable experience.

Kyanna pouted at @MAI's rejection, and she remarked once again: "If you are too close and something happen, you will just be caught in the problem and won't be able to help me." Half of the reason was indeed that she wanted MAI to not be endangered, but also she wanted her girlfriend to have room to react properly to whatever danger that could afflict the little witch.

Regardless, their walk continued. And checking through the whole clearing, it was clear that there was no mandragoras around there. With a sigh, Kyanna would shrug, turning to walk away. "Well, we must find another—"

"— Woah!"

She tripped on something rough, as rough as a rock. Kyanna stumbled on four, frowning and looking back to see what she had tripped on... Which was when she noticed what looked like to be a root bulging out of earth was actually a tiny head, one that spat out dirt, quivered its 'mouth' and then a rumbling...

"M-MAI!"

... Started to anticipate...

"BE CAREF—!"

... An ungodly, ear piercing shriek.
