Private Isulus You Were Probably Fine

The expedition had just arrived at the MIT mushroom house and Regan was excited. After killing a good number of mushroom men, Regan was ready for another fight but it seemed like that would have to wait.

Guess I'll have a look around while everyone's getting situated. Maybe I'll find some giant rats or something sneaking around to destroy.

After walking around the area only a short way and seeing the gore that had been the team stationed at the complex, Regan eyed a person she had met before.

"HEY! I REMEMBER YOU!"

Typically Regan couldn't be bothered to remember most people but she had run into this woman not too long ago when a certain twin-tailed loli had come and attempted to train Regan by attacking her out of nowhere. After that event, Regan was so angry she had left rather quickly not wanting to bother with having to deal with the girl anymore, especially since she just happened to be extremely powerful. On top of all this, the woman happened to be small and cute, which were things that Regan appreciated and felt she needed to protect.

"SO YOU'RE HERE TOO, HUH? HAHA! WELL GET BEHIND ME IF SOMETHING HAPPENS, I'LL MAKE SURE TO RIP THROUGH ANYTHING CHARGHING AT YOU, HAHAHA!"

Kat was cold, wet, and for some reason was clinging to a red wooly blanket that she had gotten from the wagon, despite it being just as soaked through as she was. She heard someone shouting, and at first, she wasn't sure if they were talking to her, but the voice kept getting closer and closer, and Kat turned around to see the large bird woman that she had never even gotten the name of. She had never even had the chance, as quick as the woman had left.

Kat frowned, already plenty grumpy without this kind of noise bothering her. Yet, here this woman was, shouting about how Kat would be safe with her and how she'd rip apart things to save Kat. Kat was even more dubious of this claim after she had so readily abandoned Kat. Kat made it very clear that she was not pleased with what this woman was claiming, and it was written all over her face.

Kat shivered again, before looking up at the bird-woman with an angry glint in her eyes.

"How about you tell me your name this time? Or are you going to leave before doing that again? I wonder if you even remember me introducing myself before you left. I did, by the way. Tell you my name."

Kat folded her arms over her chest and stared up at the woman. It was a bit harsh, sure, but Kat wasn't a big fan of being left alone, especially right after she had just been shot in the stomach with an arrow or two. Sure, she had been healed, but that was beside the point. And after all that, she had to go get her kimono repaired. It was a hassle, and sure Kat was certainly partially at fault for stumbling upon the scene, and neither she nor the bird lady seemed prepared for the little witch that assaulted them.

Kat sighed, suddenly feeling a bit bad for the biting remarks, but she would wait to see how the bird lady took it before going any further.

"HAH! Yeah I don't remember. The last time I saw you were with that other little teenager who I probably need to teach a lesson to eventually. But what do you mean, I left you? You were fine, weren't you? That's what you said. You didn't need protection and you could handle yourself. If you can handle yourself and don't need protection, then you don't."

Regan looked at the small woman blankly. To Regan, if someone said they didn't need help then they didn't, just like when Regan said she didn't want or need help you didn't want and need it. She respected others decisions as she expected her requests to be met in the same fashion.

"You had that time witch with you anyway, and I'm going to be honest. There's no way IN HELL that I was going to sit down with the pink girl. I'd rather seppuku myself four times, so I left. What? Are you saying you needed me? That my power and strength were needed to defend you?"

Regan grinned. This thought amused her.

Kat legitimately couldn't remember if she had asked for help or not. Kat was fairly certain she hadn't denied help, but perhaps it was true enough, if Kat hadn't asked, maybe she didn't want it. With a heavy sigh, she pulled the drying blanket around her tighter and gave a little shiver.

"Okay, well, my name is Kat. What is your name?"

She started there, hoping the bird lady would actually give a proper introduction this time. But regardless of that, a slight twitch at the edge of her lips revealing a bit of melancholy annoyance as she continued.

"I probably would have needed your help if that had escalated any further, yes. I'm still basically brand new to this game, and you seem to... not be."

There was no real way for Kat to know for sure if that was true or not, but at the very least Regan was training while Kat was off skipping around and stealing purses from unsuspecting strangers for a bit of gold. She had no intention of doing that to any of the people she met in that forest, but at the same time, they were also definitely not unsuspecting strangers. The wounds she had suffered at the time were evidence enough of that.

"You seem like a good ally to have, albeit a little... excitable. Not that I'm not also excitable. So that could work out. I'm just grumpy because it's wet and I don't know exactly what's going on here. It would in fact be nice if I had some backup in whatever is about to happen here."

Kat brought the customary smile of hers back to her lips, trying her best to let the grumpiness fade away. The bird lady had her reasons for doing what she did, and Kat was honestly no worse for wear at the time, so why not see if she could play her cards right and get a protector out of this deal after all?
