"You're overthinking it," Danielle winked back towards Dayeon. "This is tech industry, after all. 90% of participants were nerds in school, and the other 10% just got lucky with their investments. Won't be expecting any sort of old-money stuff here, outside of just having some manners."
Sure, the folks present may not be totally enthused if the K-pop idol started doing the sorts of dance moves that made K-pop famous, but the read that she got out of the attendees were that, for all their finery and media training, they weren't all that stuffy. Still, mention of Nexus caused Danielle to raise a brow. She sipped her wine though, and took a step back to allow a talkative newcomer to insert herself into the conversation.
Hitomi. Thank god her hair color was so out there. If it was black, she wouldn't have made the instant connection to Nexus, but blue? That stood out pretty well amongst the more dour-faced individuals on the employees' list.
"Call me Danielle," the short-haired woman spoke after a brief silence. Once again, she offered a smile and a handshake. "And you can't really fault people for using screens and headsets, Hitomi. Most people play chess online too; you'd probably find plenty of people if you downloaded the app."
Of course, there were weirdos who enjoyed RL chess for the ability to watch their opponents sweat, but…
"Ah, and God probably doesn't play chess, for reasons that I'd imagine are obvious. Instead…"
She raised her spare hand, laying her middle finger over her index finger, as if holding a disc between them. And with a decisive movement, the woman placed that imaginary disc upon a similarly-imaginary table.
"…Go may better suit their interests?"
