Personality

Maria was the awkward little kid who sat on her corner to do her thing and bother no one, at least until you would reach out to her, in which case she would open up and prove to be quite talkative despite how quiet she is. Considerate, altruistic, and ready to make anyone's life in this plane of existence a little more bearable.

Quite crafty where she lacked in physical appeal, always putting others before herself, and in very few cases does she really say no to someone. It's easy to find the roots of her true self with people she's close to, who actually get to experience Maria's most open-ended side, as a passionate girl with very little self-control and strange tastes. A car with no brakes.

Tick Tock takes this concept further. It is not her ideal form, but the truest to herself there can be. She does as she wishes and works with no logic as basis, an unredeemable and fractured mind swayed by the most frivolous of suggestions or whimsical of thoughts. Incapable of distinguishing reality from fiction. Or perhaps the opposite: Viciously aware of it.

Positive: Creative, Enthusiastic, Playful, Ambitious, Providential, Humorous, Amiable.
Negative: Deceptive, Amoral, Childish, Sadistic, Indulgent, Muddle, Opportunistic, Fanatical.

Background

Uneventful yet all the more constant, endlessly spiraling without a start or end to it. Maria had been pampered through life, given love, affection, but most importantly, moreso than her parents, had to be Erika. Her twin sister.

None could understand her better than Erika, of course. Not even her own mother knew Maria like Erika did, and even to their parents the duo were undiscernable, as if they simply didn't belong to them in the first place. Through each stage of school they both went practically glued one with the other. Their most intimate secrets were known only to one and the other, and for the rest of their friends, Erika and Maria simply found the means to craft falsehoods to spread. A 'boy' they liked, a 'girl' they hated. Even their discussions were pre-planned by the pair, who simply didn't know better to socialize with others, and desperately tried to do so to no success.

To try and simply 'be' like they are with one another felt like the only answer, and for some time it worked the more they lied to eachother about it, but eventually, the twins grew bored. They decided to indulge in videogames, these were good for chit chatting, like a cup of tea to spice up their topics, games were a good outlet. It was their anchor to others, too.

Games of all sorts to spread their array, with even childish ones being a nice past-time for the pair. collecting porcelain dolls one of their favourites, that eventually lead them to figure out how to make their own, albeit crude. Dolls of their friends, of themselves, of their parents. Unfortunately, they didn't do good as gifts, and ended up abruptly with some of their most treasured friends̵͙͇̘͛̆h̸̩̊͊ḭ̵̆́-̴͔̱͍̾̓̈́M̵͔̓ą̴̩͚͌͑r̶ia's return home received no audience, no warmth welcome or cookies from mama. It didn't matter by then. She knew better than anyone how to reach the second floor of her house, how the window was broken and papa never noticed the fresh air coming in.

The VR headset was all she had her mind in, long the code to Terrasphere been scanned after having exchanged it with Erika's what felt like an eternity ago, the lucky one to get her hands on it by mere chance. Bittersweet memories that they left on the dust, now brought them back together.

She left not a trace after her unceremonious entrance and departure that went unbeknownst to all sides.

ENGAGEMENT PROTOCOLS

Painful lies and blissful truths: Through illusion, Tick Tock channels both to suit their needs, be it to conceal either at once or reveal an entire different reality to whoever they subject them to. Sometimes they includes themselves as the target, as a lie is only as real as the one who believes it true.

Through trickery, they alters the perception of what is and what isn't, be it to display skills they never learned, powers they never wielded, objects that never existed, and life that they never created. The possibilities are massive, and often part of their showsmanship for everything they does, mundane or otherwise.

The very world to be shapeshifted at their whims.

The Amalgam Core is an incomplete piece of technology that functions as both heart and catalyst, malformed by magic and clogged with biomass and flesh across the interior of the frame, a byproduct of magical leaks whenever damaged or pushed to it's very limits. Both twins carry one, built to house the most intensive and chaotic of magical powers. The consequences however, are crystal clear: The more of that twisted magic they assimilate, the greater the risk of corruption and/or internal damage.

The benefits to be reaped are considerable, as it mitigates the chaotic nature of dark magic almost to a zero so long as it's used with moderation, allowing them to use it to it's fullest potential beyond mere cursecrafting through consistent high bursts of it. Any and all magic the core absorbs, be it through other masteries or touch, will go through a conversion to dark magic and stored for use.

Exceptions to the rule exist, such as dissonance, proving to be too much to contain for long. The exposure alone is already dangerous enough to keep them from using any source of it for spellcasting, save for whenever they deem it worth the risks-- A flaw they seek to correct.

Through contact, general exposure, or aggression, TT leeches lifeforce from the world and foes around them, forcing the erosion of flesh, bones and metal alike to strip it from life, artificial or not. This energy is repurposed to reverse any damage inflicted and as a less volatile fuel for their puppets and apparatuses.

The stolen lifeforce can be then integrated into the Amalgam's Core, either to stabilize or feed it, serving as a secondary form of absorption and to repair the otherwise weak frame they possess.

Alternatively, it can overflow others with life to augment their capacities, eating through magic as opposed to calories, electricity or what not

It exemplifies creativity and the break of any limitations, physical and otherwise, unlocking all parameters the Amalgam has programmed. It follows internal bleeding, known as a magical leak event, where the core works full-time into aggression as opposed to containment.

Creativity becomes endless, as the uncommon sense begins to apply: Break the sky, swallow time, dance with space, believing in the unreal. Learning the rules of the cosmos to break them, along the stars themselves.

The consequences are very much reliant on what the core absorbs during the directive trigger, but range from incapacitating to catastrophic.

The harvest of souls tends to be for different reasons. In their case, souls are enslaved, 'lobotomized', and stripped of all independance to assimilate into magitechnology, creating a sentient and far more responsive system fueled by soul fragments torn from spiritual energy and lifeforce alike. The Amalgam Core was creating using this technique, and it sustains best from souls and spirits which constantly attempts to assimilate into itself.

This soultech is ever-changing, constantly adapting itself to the needs of it's user. For Tick, it could be to quickly regenerate limbs, transmute materials, or alter the properties of their framework to reinforce resistance against specific magical elements, as much as it is to forcefully adapt tech and weaponry as if it were clay to mold to their tastes.

Those sensitive to spirits could tell there are more than a singular soul in both twins, as if worn like clothing.

Equipment

Falsehoods

Multi-Purpose Tool

While Tick Tock relies on their magical prowess to fight, they are no stranger to mimic weaponry and other objects through the Amalgam Core paired with Illusionism, turning real the unreal with a pinch of trickery and mana. The result falls under the umbrella name of 'Falsehoods'

Falsehoods tend to be objects they can carry on one or two hands, and tend to dissipate back into the Core after usage, but they range from megaphones to knives to screwdrivers, ladders, and even barrels, so long as it's within a limit of what Illusion Magic can create. Falsehoods are far more versatile when combined with other masteries, but creativity is required from the twins to exploit it's potential.

Soulweave

Medium Armor

A mixture of nanomachinery, cloth and souls, TT's outfit is self-repairing and is in a constant transmutation state. The Soulweave offers a small degree of protection, and can change forms on the fly to suit different styles. Currently, both Tick and Tock have different sets, with Tick's favouring darker, blank shades while Tock's focusing on vibrant, pure white and blues.

SPECIALIZED FEATURES

Artificial Body
You cannot taste foods or beverages, but are still required to consume these to replenish your food and water meters. These meters take far less nourishment to replenish.

You also do not replenish your rest meter while sleeping. Instead, you must remain inactive near a source of magical energy for X hours. You can roll 3d4 or take the average (7) to determine how long it takes to replenish your rest meter. If your rest meter reaches 0%, you will shut down until it recharges to 10% at a much slower rate.

'Tick's quest begun with the character creation, where their design came with purpose first and foremost, fashion second. Ever since then, Tick Tock has been improving her design and altering little details, but never enough to not recognize herself in a mirror. Despite a fleeting sensation deep down that reminds her such.'

Function Over Form: Magic/ Learning
You specialize in magic and learning thanks to bold optimization. However, the optimization process has unintentionally given you two speech or behavioral quirks.

'What is another quirk for a quirky individual? A small price to pay to perfect their body. Tick Tock designed herself as a vessel for all forms of magic, prioritizing safe containment of the tabboo sort, sacrificing high tech designs and integrity to become a host of archaic forms of power that could break a mere spellcaster. Recent modifications augmented all of their cognitive functions.'

Acquired Taste
You can taste foods and beverages like any fleshy being. In fact, your faculty of taste is amplified, making you hyper-aware of what you're eating or drinking. Once consumed, you can analyze your meals in superfluous detail, such as identifying all the ingredients used to cook it, the age of the food, its overall nutritional value, the techniques used to cook it, etc.

'Food is vital for survival, even for a being such as herself. Thanks to her Starcalled status, she must adhere to the rules other flesh bags have to, so why not return her tastebuds if she's forced to feast anyways?'

Machine Translation (Speech/Writing)
You can approximately translate that aspect of spoken and written languages foreign to you, respectively. If it is spoken, you will hear a robotic voice translating the words in your head. If it is written, your field of vision will render the foreign writing in your primary language of choice instead. The quality of the translation will largely depend on how common the language is. You will also be able to write or speak (with a robotic voice) in foreign languages with the same quality of translation as your comprehension of that language.

'The means to decypher the unknown with varying degrees of accuracy. Be it a programming language or a spoken tongue, the translator comes in handy for academical purposes, aswell as to speak in codes with her twin when secrecy demands it, even if their thoughts are connected in the first place.'
