Scythe Mastery ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Spirit Magic ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Aeromancy ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Corrupt

A moment passed as Kyra continued leaning on the rake, considering Lúthien's words. Sure, it wasn't their problem - but it was a problem. It was people who needed help, and that was something that Kyra always focused on; those who needed help. Perhaps we should...She shook the thought from her head. It was something to consider after they had finished.

The realisation that she was wasting time, and that meant it would take longer to get the hydromancy from Lúthien caused Kyra's attention to be brought back to the task at hand, a sudden surge of energy escaping her as she returned to the raking.

It had taken them well over an hour to finish the clean-up, but as Kyra leaned against the fence - exhausted and regretting every instance of it - she couldn't help but marvel at what they had done. Sure, it wasn't sparkling, it wasn't gleaming in ways that would make it the perfect television moment. But it was clean, which was all that mattered.

Think they'll be happy now...? The cobr-turkeys. Think this'll solve all the problems, for the time being?

She glanced at Lúthien, waiting for the girl's response. She seemed far more knowledgeable in this than Kyra herself was, and the fox-girl was willing to take her word for it.

The blonde was more than happy to let the matter fade away, focusing instead on the current task at hand as the girls continued raking up all the deteriorating straw and waste in the pen. After an hour of hard labor they had finally managed to tidy up the outdoor pen to acceptable standards, a long exhale leaving the ranger as she leaned against the fence to rest for a bit.

"They better be happy," Considering a good portion of them would probably end up in someone’s plate sooner rather than later one could only hope the little shits could appreciate their newly cleaned up pen until that time came. "No clue if this will solve whatever problems the farm’s been having, but it’s a start at least?" She didn’t miss the way Kyra continued to stare in her direction, a sigh escaping the archer’s lips before she rolled her shoulders to loosen some of the tension. "I’m not the one that talked to them about this Kyra, was there anything else the woman mentioned needed checking or is this good enough?"

After all Kyra wasn't the only one not excited to do mundane tasks while in a cool fantasy game like Terrasphere, if what they'd done was enough to meet the expectations of the farm then Lúthien would be more than happy to release the turkeys from the barn and call it a day.

Scythe Mastery ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Spirit Magic ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Aeromancy ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Corrupt

The curl of Kyra's upper lip carried no sign of aggression, or anger. Instead, the snarl-like expression seemed to carry a sense of...frustration. She was being sidetracked again, and knew she had no argument for it. Glancing around, she tried to remember exactly what she'd been told, before shrugging in response to the elf's question.

All she really said...was that the turkey's were unhappy, and that they needed help trying to figure out how to cheer them up. How they even knew they were unhappy...well, I'll likely never know...but...I mean, what else can you do to make these stupid things happy? They have food, water...a safe space...shouldn't they be ecstatic? It's not like they know what comes next for them, right?

She wasn't entirely confident as she said that - these were computer generated creatures, after all. It was entirely possible they were as sentient as Kyra and Luthy - although the fox girl doubted it. The game didn't require The Rising of the Turkeys.

I've got nothing. Any ideas? Or do you think we're good here?

She leaned against the fence, a slight tension in her body as she hoped the elf would have no further ideas. She was tired of this already, regretting the decision to help the farm - and yet, she knew that if she came upon the request again, she'd likely repeat the process. Insanity by definition...

"Beats me… though I’d be pretty bummed if my chill outdoor area was as dirty as this place had been when we got here." Given the state of it all, and their limited resources, the ranger would say the pair had managed a damn good job at making this pen more welcoming for the larger poultry. "Other thing I can think of is them being too crowded… but I don’t think that’s something we get to decide, or solve."

She was thankful for that too, while Valeria never had qualms in the kitchen when it came to breaking down cuts of meats, chickens, fish and other things she had always been hesitant about actually taking the life of whatever animal she was going to consume for a dish. "I guess we cooouuuld check the barn, it might be just as filthy as this pen had been, but…" Lúthien allowed the rest of the words to drift in the air unsaid, a glance given towards the purple vixen as the blonde decided to leave the final choice in her hands.

In reality the elf wasn’t exactly keen on spending more time cleaning bird shit, but if the healer was up for the challenge then the ranger supposed she could stick around and give a helping hand.

Scythe Mastery ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Spirit Magic ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Aeromancy ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Corrupt

For a brief moment, Kyra's face lit up with excitement as she realised the choice that Lúthien was giving to her. She opened her mouth to speak, to accept the chance, before her eyes shifted to the barn. Almost as quickly, her excitement seemed to fade, a thoughtful expression on her face as she conceded to herself that there was still more work to be done.

Alright...how about this. A little bit of lessons, then we finish off the barn? Call it a...break, sort of. Or a re-energiser?

She smiled at Lúthien, hoping her compromise would be accepted. She did want to learn how to control the water based magic, but at the same time...she couldn't just leave a job unfinished. This way though...I'm not. We're just taking a bit of a break, before we continue with everything. Win-win, right?

And if you don't want to help with the barn...I think I can manage it. Especially if you've got other stuff planned for today - my calendar is open, so I can be here for
a while.

Her tail wagged behind her as she waited to see what Lúthien would say, knowing she'd be content so long as she eventually got her lessons. Even if it meant having to gut and clean an entire barn all by herself, it'd be worth it in the end.

She couldn’t help the way one eyebrow carefully rose high to the sky upon hearing Kyra’s words, the ranger having fully expected the purple fox to take the exit she’d been offered and call it a day for their manual labor of cleaning. "Aren’t you the crafty one, though I suppose a break wouldn’t be a bad idea..." Cleaning the rather large pen had been quite the task, the aching on her muscles still present but slowly ebbing away as time passed, so the thought of some downtime to rest before they moved to tackle whatever awaited for them inside the barn didn’t sound like a bad idea.

"Alright then, what do you want to learn about hydromancy?"

Crimson eyes turned to look at Kyra expectantly now, waiting to see what the older woman would ask of Lúthien for this lesson. After all the elf had been clear on one thing—she was not a teacher—so it would fall on Kyra to ask what she wished to see before Lúthien tried to produce it to the best of her abilities.

Kyra grinned widely as the elf seemed to catch onto the idea. She couldn't help but feel a bit of pride at being caught, if one could call it that.

Crafty...like a fox, you say?

As Lúthien turned the task of determining how to teach the newfound magic to Kyra, the foxgirl stepped back and leaned against the fence, her brow furrowing slightly as she tried to consider what would be the best starting place. Basics are best...think about how you handled the Aeromancy.

Well, all I really need to know is...how to start? Like, what does it feel like to summon the hydromancy? I don't use the interface for casting, so I kinda need to rely on...well, the feel of how its connected. If that makes sense?

She didn't know how to describe it, something she'd always run into trouble with. For her, it was like each magical ability had an almost sensation to it - something she could sense within herself, that connected her to the ability.

So long as I know what to look for...I can basically develop the skills myself. With time and practice. It's just like...needing a starting point. An idea of what to...reach for, I guess?

She shrugged, hoping that the elf was able to understand what she was trying to say. It was the best she could offer, at the time.

A roll of her eyes was given when Kyra asked if she was crafty like her chosen beastfolk species, though the grin that lingered on the blonde’s lips showed it was all in good humor. The elf couldn’t help but frown as the vixen then shifted to explain how she best learned magic—not because she couldn’t understand it, in fact it was also how Lúthien had learned her own skills for the most part, but because this meant they actually had the same problem.

"Actually I, uuuh... I never used the system assistance for masteries or the bow," She could still remember the pain it had been to properly learn how to use the weapon, first in Honeyhome under the watchful eye of an old man who’d been a great hunter in his younger days and later on under the tutelage of Beleg in the League. "Kinda ended with aeromancy and hydromancy ‘cause I picked them up intuitively."

That and maybe she’d watched Avatar the Last Airbender a bit too much growing up.

"I guess it’s kinda like aeromancy? But instead of focusing on like the woosh of the wind," The elf allowed her mind to concentrate as she felt a small breeze tickle her skin, a hand slowly moving in a circular motion before beginning to gather up the wind in an example. "You focus instead of the splash of the water and just moisture I guess?"

Her gaze turned back to the watering trough then, letting the gathered air slowly dissipate around them before the elf extended a hand towards it. Her eyes closed as she concentrated once more, this time listening for the faint sounds of the water as the breeze disrupted the surface, before imagining a blob inside her mind. Carefully a large globule of water separated from the rest and hovered in the air, Lúthien allowing her eyes to open once more to focused on it.

Kind of like Aeromancy...alright, that shouldn't be too hard then. Kyra turned her mind towards focusing like she did with her other magic. Like she did with the other elemental magics she'd used, she turned her attention towards feeling the element in the world around her, summoning it through her connection.

Almost all at once, she could feel the very perspiration in the air - as if it had always been there, but she was sensing it for the first time in her life. She released a soft gasp, her eyes closing halfway as she tried to grasp the feeling more. Atop her head, her ears twitched erratically, and her tail wagged in excitement. Carefully, Kyra focused her sight inwards.

Water drip...water drop...release your flow...

She spoke without consideration, the words coming natural as they always did with her spirit magic. There was a moment when she felt something in the air around her shift, as if there was a sudden change in the temperature around her.

Opening her eyes, Kyra found herself surrounded by small droplets of water, pulled from the ground around her as if floating upwards. A small shriek of excitement escaped her, causing her to break her concentration and the droplets to fall to the ground again.

Oh that was awesome! I think I got the start of it! Oh man...the feel...like rushing rivers...oh the things I could do with this! I mean think about it, being able to pull water from...well, maybe not thin air, but...

Her words continued on for a few long moments as her excitement got the better of her, talking in circles ever so slightly as she shared every little thought that came to mind.

She watched as the purple fox began to concentrate and try to tap into the new element, careful to remain quiet so as not to disrupt Kyra. When the vixen began to chant quietly the ranger couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow in curiosity, though considering the ways she’d witnessed Kyra perform her magic Lúthien supposed this was expected. Instead the elf focused on the large globule of water that she’d extracted from the trough, her hands slowly moving as she directed the liquid to stretch and curve according to her will.

"Oh…!"

The sudden shift in temperature caught Lúthien’s attention then, crimson eyes turning to look at Kyra once more to see the various droplets of water the older woman had managed to command around herself—just before they dropped and were absorbed back into the soil beneath them. "There ya go, that was pretty good for the first time—and with little instructions." She congratulated the beastfolk for her small success, before a faint chuckle left her lips as Kyra began to ramble on excitedly about what she’d felt and every other thought that popped into her mind.

"Mmm, yes and no—" Her words interjected when the vixen mentioned pulling water from thin air. "After all, even in the driest of climates you can usually find some moisture… but when whatever’s around isn’t enough I’ve found you can supplement it in a way with yourself."

At least that’s kind of how it seemed to work, though the effort was one that quickly drained the energy meter in her UI… not to mention the toll it had on her own body. "Just be careful when doing that, and be very sure you don’t fucking dehydrate yourself." So far she hadn’t gotten quite to that level, but knowing the impulsive ways of the purple fox Lúthien felt the warning was quite necessary.

"And, once you get a good grasp on it, you’ll be able to do this~"

A wink was given to Kyra before the archer focused on the wisp of water that she had been manipulating, the temperature suddenly dropping between them and causing Lúthien’s exhales to condense and become visible in the air. With a sharp movement of her arms she caused the curved line of water to straighten up, before seconds after a crystalline sound echoed in their ears as it began to convert into ice from one tip. It quickly spread upwards rapidly, and soon enough a sharp javelin length icicle floated in the air instead.

"Aeromancy isn’t the only mastery with two elements associated to it."

She watched, carefully, as Lúthien focused on the water she was controlling. The sudden shift in temperature, the crystallisation of the water itself, and the words that Lúthien had mentioned previously all stuck in Kyra's mind. Even as the elfen girl mentioned the correlation with Aeromancy, Kyra found herself distracted, a dark and disturbing thought entering her mind.

Dehydrated...

The word seemed to hang on the air as she considered sharing her idea with Lúthien. She didn't expect the girl to be a concern, but...a flash as she remembered her hemoancy, and what it had done to Kyra herself. No one is above their darkest moments...

This is awesome...thank you. For teaching me, and for the help here. And...

She looked like she was going to say something else for a moment, her mouth open and her eyes distant, before she suddenly turned towards the barn itself.

I can finish up here, if you want to head off...you've already helped out a lot, and I don't want to drag your day down with silly basic chores that we would do in real life. Or not want to do, rather...

Every little thing comes with a negative side. It's avoiding that dark possibility that makes the person...She had no idea why the words stuck with her, but as Kyra considered what she'd originally contemplated, she realised she was better off never bringing it to light. She was sure someone else had already figured it out - or would - but she knew one thing for sure; she wouldn't be the one to introduce the concept.

There was a seriousness that overtook the vixen, one that Lúthien wasn’t used to seeing on the older woman, and it caused the blonde to quiet down as she observed the gears in Kyra’s mind slowly grind away—though no matter how much the archer stared she’d never be able to guess what thoughts might’ve been going through the woman’s mind. ”This is awesome...thank you. For teaching me, and for the help here. And...” The words suddenly tapered off, causing the ranger to raise a delicate eyebrow up into the air, before the woman seemed to snap back into reality as she turned towards the barn.

"What, and miss out on your misery as you clean it?" Her eyes focused on the vixen as she spoke, a light teasing coating her words as a faint smirk pulled at the corners of her lips. "Besides, it’d be kinda hard to go out and have a good time while knowing you’re still mucking around this place."

She’d never been good at turning a blind eye to the misfortune of others, moreso when they were people that she knew. It just wasn’t something coded into the girl, whether it was IRL or in-game, and while the relationship between them had certainly taken a hit… well, it wasn’t like Lúthien hated the vixen’s guts.

"Come on, the sooner we finish cleaning that barn up the better—if we hurry up we just might make it back in time to grab a bite to eat at the Finest Flour before they close up the bakery for the day."

Kyra stopped for a brief second as Lúthien brought a smile to her face. Even after everything that had happened...well, it was why she had called the elfen girl here, wasn't it? A hope to restart everything, to make fresh the wounds she'd caused in their relationship. Steps...but always forward.

That sounds nice...I've not visited the place yet. But I do spend a lot of time locked awa-I mean, working.

She truly did spend a lot of time focused on her work, even in this game. Her brow furrowed for a moment at the ironic thought, escaping into a game that was meant to be fun, only to find oneself ever entrapped in work. The whole idea caused her to burst out laughing, forcing her to wave a hand and explain herself once she'd stopped.

Sorry...was just thinking of the irony...diving into a game, only to end up working. Imagine what our forefathers would be saying about all this, and the...well, the irony of it all.

She breathed heavily, pushing the laughter aside for the moment as she turned back to the barn. Just a little bit more work...then we can relax in earnest. And say that we deserve it, after everything we've done. Even if it was a digital world, the errands and requirements of life wouldn't let one sit still - all in a days' work, as they say.
