As soon as the man had woken up, dragged himself into the shower. Even if he'd done little more than lay in his bed for the past thirty-six hours in real life, he still felt the dirt, blood and grime of Arcia caked onto his skin. The hot water did little to wash away the hours of worry though. His heart beat furiously in his chest, tension rippling through his muscles. 'She's ok,' the man reminded himself before turning off the faucet and stepping out of the shower to dry his body and pull on fresh clothes.

By the time Ari had stepped out of the shower he only had forty-five minutes left before he needed to log back into the game to relieve Unmei of her watch. Just enough time to cook some food and eat. The man went into his kitchen and quickly fried some rice, kimchi and other ingredients in a pan, a couple of eggs and scarfed the meal down before heading back into his room to don his headset. Just in time.

Unmei awake with a start as she felt the ground beneath her rumble. She'd nearly bolted to her feet before her mind had registered that the source of the tremor had been Mr. Chadisma shoving his arms into the earth. Was that man even human? Or any race of TerraSphere for that matter? It almost seemed unlikely.

Luthien awoke as well, and slowly she and Mr. Chadisma took notice of the sword-spirit. "My name is Unmei," she introduced herself to the other two conscious people.

'They're up,' she communicated to Yu as both Luthien and Mr. Chadisma gathered themselves, eyes panning around the area until Luthien voiced the one question Unmei could have somehow guessed she would ask.

The Hunter himself reappeared then, having not gone too far from their makeshift resting point. A quick perimeter check, something he had done every ten or fifteen minutes since logging back into the game if only to occupy his mind. "Good you're up," the man said as he pushed past some brush and into view. "It was starting to look like I'd have to make a palette to drag you back to camp," the man said to the yellow-haired man before looking over at Luth, a face of worry passing over him. He didn't ask if she was ok, though he wanted to. She was awake, and if she'd been seriously harmed, she likely never would have.

"We should get back, and fast. The camp, it uh..." Fuck, he'd never been good at breaking bad news to people. "There was a raid." Always too blunt. "We fought them back, but...we should get back."

Wordlessly, Yu hoisted Sven onto his shoulders in a fireman carry, and gestured for the others to follow. The day was done. It was time to go.

Finding Sven
Epilogue

"Nice to meet you, Unmei and her older brother, Mr...?" Chad blanked out on the young man's name since he was never given it.

Regardless, hearing about the raid turned Chad's usual unbothered demeanor into that of concern. Granted, he was sent away on a mission to save someone the MIT deemed important, but he couldn't shake the thoughts of what had happened to the camp. It didn't exactly help with Yugam beating around the bush either.

After he took a breath as if to calm himself, the blonde clapped his face with both of his hands as if to rip himself from the worries that were starting to build in his heart. He believed in the Lord Commander's ability to lead and that things would be okay on the homefront.

Turning to Yugam, Chad grabbed Sven's limp body from him. "You came right from the battle, didn't you? Let me carry Sven."

Then, he turned to Luthien and put a hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. "I'll see if the Pride can organize a search for your little buddy, okay? Don't worry. We'll find her."

Gone were the usual silly banters, in the face of real threats, Chad stepped up and assumed the Knight Captain's mantle. He might not be the brightest candle among the pride, but he could burn the longest, and he intended on doing so despite running on fumes at that point.

And so, the four made their way back to Camp Hope IV. Although they had accomplished their mission valiantly, yet it felt like a bitter victory to some among them.
