He sighs and reclines his head against the stone he is leaning against, a groan of displeasure passing through him as he curses under his breath. "Alright, alright… It can't be that bad, can it? Abandoning a beginner's quest happens all the time, I've seen it before."

It's not that it's a complicated quest, mind you. The task given to him couldn't be any simpler: capture three (any more would be appreciated and dully compensated) mandrakes for future usage in the concoction of a popular remedy sold to beginners such as himself.

"Ugh, but I don't want to have to deal with whatever repercussions this game has. The last thing I need is someone pointing at me and going: 'Oh hey, there is the guy that couldn't complete a level 1 quest!'"

However, the NPC in charge of assigning him his task had conveniently left out the most annoying detail of the entire ordeal: the plants had a mind of their own, able to feel fear of their would-be captors and run at the sight of them, screeching in a high-pitched volume that one could only describe as both bizarre and ear-shattering.

He sits against a stone pillar and pats his hands down his outfit, attempting to clear himself of dirt and grass sticking to the fabric after what could be assumed to be a few failed attempts to complete the task. Not that he had come with anyone, but to him, it was important. Frey readjusts himself and closes his eyes, willing calm unto himself with the soothing visage of a mandrake being strangled by his own two hands.

"I'll just sit here for a few minutes, recharge… And then we'll go back at it."

Harukami was no longer a new player- or at least, not by the standards of skill levels. However, she still wanted to go through all the early quests of the game, if only for the sake of helping the world's people get tasks they needed done, done. Plus, what fantasy bookworm wouldn't want to see a mandrake plant at least once? Certainly, Harukami was more than a little curious.

The girl had found it harder than expected, however. She expected the scream, she expected them to run- but she didn't expect how quickly they'd sense her coming! Sighing, she walked towards a person sitting against a stone pillar, clearing her throat on the way there so that he wouldn't have to hear the awkward sound.

"Um... A-Are you also trying to c-catch mandragora?" According to her bookish knowledge, mandragora and mandrake were basically the same thing- mandragora just referred to mandrakes used as narcotics. Harukami had forgotten that part, but it probably still fit, didn't it? "I-If you'd like, um, shall we catch them together?"

Frey raises his head at the sound of a stranger's voice catching in his ears, the faint ringing in the distance from a recently scared sentient plant twisting the corners of his mouth into a grimace. He tears his eyes away from the fleeing mandrakes to look at the one who had approached him, the expression on his face being quickly overcome by a truthful smile.

"That I am, not that the little..." What word is about to leave his lips, he swallows instead, clearing his throat once. "The little things haven't made it exactly easy."

And then she offers to join him on the quest, and he doesn't deny her offer. The faerin player pulls himself to his feet, hand curled into a fist which he then lets go of, pulling the user's interface that hovers over his palm and drags his index finger across from it, sending a Party Invitation to her. Whatever rewards they would get from the quest, they could always share.

"You ready? I think it's time we got our revenge!"

With a wince as another screech filled the air, Harukami was still left giggling as the man bit back what she could only guess was a crude word for the mandrakes in question. "T-they surely are troublesome l-little things. But if we, er, work... to gather...? I-I mean, together! A-Anyway, I'm sure we'll catch them!"

When she got the party invitation, she was quick to accept. She gave a deep bow, smiling and holding out a hand soon after. "I'm Harukami. Let's work hard!"

She turned around to see a group of mandrakes a little ways away from them, huddled together like a sports team. Frowning slightly, she glanced in the direction of her new ally. "T-They look like they're planning something..." She mumbled, taking a runner's stance. She had never actually run that well, nor from this stance, but... She'd seen her sister do it. If she could do it, so could Harukami!

With a rush of adrenaline in her veins, she ran towards the group of mandrakes. Most scattered, but not before she managed to lift one off the ground. It cried like a baby more than screeched, and she quickly hid it away. "One down, three to go!" She gave Frey a thumbs up.

"Frey Elzeiros, a pleasure to make your acquaintance," he responds in kind to the introduction by bowing his head, crown falling from his head and a hand catching it mid-air so he could turn it and place it back in his head with a smile.

Rolling up his sleeves in anticipation for the second, he watches the woman make her assessment of the mandrakes, taking note of how they seemed to come closer together, what passed as facial features turning to look at the pair with each careful step they took.

But then Harukami starts to run in their direction and he is left behind, panic momentarily overtaking him as their quarry unleashes a series of powerful screeching and scatters through the ground, running amok.

The faerin takes off running against the smallest one of the bunch, his feet catching on a branch that certainly hadn't been there before, but if it had, then he hadn't noticed. He catches himself before he can fall and cause injury, but by the time he does so, the mandrake is far away from him.

"Damn it... Alright, alright. We are just getting started now!"
