Inside the Spooky Ghost Barn...

A severe sense of dread loomed over this barn as the four brave souls entered. Nobody had been there to greet them. Just the barn, its door creaking gently, swaying back and forth. Open, and shut, the door creaked and slammed, but the intrepid quartet would note that there was no wind to do this to the door. The air was still, and yet the door wasn't.

Moving past this meddlesome object, the quartet would find what didn't even look like a barn anymore, though it had definitely been from the outside. Inside, it was a dusty looking entryway. Cobwebs adorned every corner and piece of furniture, wood rotted away, and there was wallpaper on the inside of the barn, though one normally wouldn't put that there. Decorations, one might think, but it was authentic to the point that it looked like it had always been there, and the decay that peeled it away from the walls was not something done by human hands.

An old clock on the far wall, a grandfather clock, would chime their entrance to the barn. It read midnight, but there was no way it was actually that late, right? More trickery by the barn creators, whoever, and wherever they must be, surely. Twelve times it would chime though, as was correct for the hour. Twelve times the chime would ring through the empty, quiet space, and the minds of those in the barn to hear it. Twelve times, enough times for the quartet to all enter, and for the door to slam behind them.

Enough time for them to realize that there was no leaving this place now, as the door was stuck fast. There was no lock. There was no bolt. It simply would not open any longer, as if a force was sealing it shut by other means. The only way was forward for these brave souls, in this creaky, old barn pretending to be a haunted manor. But how much of it was pretend? They would certainly find out.

DM Notes: Post as little or as much as you like. I will be popping into the thread at random intervals to create a further narrative. If you would like for me to create a post by request, simply message me on Discord and I will do so as soon as I can. All RP is freeform, no dice will be used. Characters cannot be harmed unless they choose to harm themselves or each other.

The path was chosen and they were placed in a haunted barn. It was something out of a movie that bored him honestly. Placing himself in life-or-death situations constantly made things like this hit or miss. Imagine a group of people taking down something other than a ghost that did interest him. Herc had heard rumors of demons and poltergeists. It was best he kept on his toes assuming it was something more powerful behind the scenes. Before anything would happen that didn't affect the group he prepared his weapon. Clapping his hands together and slowly he would summon an appropriate blade. Infusing black magic in the weapon to keep it together innately. Given the space they would be fighting he had to keep it short enough so as not to hit his allies. Along with the creation of his sword, he would create throwing daggers to use in his free hand should the moment call for it. Creating the armor via the same method of hand clap he was ready to protect to group.

"Well everyone let's make sure we do our best to support each other. It's important we don't split up given we're dealing with ghosts. While we have a moment of peace we have to make sure we are geared up for the battle ahead. So what's the plan for everyone outside making sure everyone survives"

"Shit, this place needs a goddamn clean up. This is really a dungeon, it isn't a stupid barn."

He wasn't really disappointed at it. After all, if it was really a dungeon, it meant he would find loot, and not just straws or cheap attempts to scare him. Attempts, of course! Because why he would get scared? There was no reason to get scared, nu-uh.

The creaking door was annoying though.

"Can you stop this crap, Jade?! Stop opening and closing the door, just decide if you want to get in or not!"

"I am not, Max. I am right next to you."

The fairy responded with a frown, hovering just a feet next to Max, which mildly startled him.

"Who the hell is doing that then-?"

He peeked at the door that was just moving randomly, without a single soul being there. Not even the tiniest of the breezes to blame.

Max crossed his arms, looking up at @Herculean Drakecon. "Godzilla, you will be taking the frontline, right? If that is the case, I will just go and stay-" He spoke, slowly turning to look at @Wisp and @Sakura Wind.

...

'Son, remember, it isn't a gentleman thing to take advantage of girls'

'Fffffffffffffffffffffuck youuuuu stupid incoveniently placed flashback. Fuck you, old man, fuck you!'

"B-Because it is only natural I will go protect the rearguard, to make sure no one will catch us from behind. We need to be fully aware of the danger." He nodded, glancing to the other two. "Is that okay? You guys stay in the middle. The scared cat... dog? here is the healer anyway. Dead healer can't heal."

'Fuck you, old man. I hate you.'

"I thought you were planning to stay on the middle because it is safer?"

The fairy whispered, and Max dismissed.

"Plans changed." He handwaved, with his monkey tail moving back and forth. "I can't rely on them to spot loot as well as I do."

Rina stepped through the creaking door without much hesitation. The overall looming sense of dread that eminated from the barn's exterior only seemed to grow as her gaze followed the path of the entry. The chiming of the clock was certainly an unanticipated detail to this little attractions. Still, the idea of ghosts haunting the space was....well....exciting to her.

She couldn't hide her grin as she took in all of the details like the nerdy personality that she was. Being able to be in a haunted house virtually was amazing to say the least. Plus the fact that everything felt and seemed so real just excited her more.

Still she watched as Dynamax seemed to slink back a bit among the group. Perhaps it was a mother's intuition, but she felt that maybe keeping an eye on him would be a good idea. Herculean Drakecon on the other hand seemed ready for war.

"Well, if you're certain this is the right route to take. I'm fine with whatever."

She shrugged and towards the other young woman within their group. It was very clear that it was going to be an unpredictable experience. She began to walk towards the chiming clock. Quickly she stopped before the wooden structure and reached towards the handle that kept the glass case around the pendulum closed. She wondered what might be hidden there.

'This is going to be good.'

Sakura had mustered up the courage to join the others into the ghostly haunting barn, still unsure of the potential authenticity of the idea of there being ghosts in there. What if there actually were ghosts in there? Was it possible to stop the incorporeal...? She pushed the thoughts aside for the moment as she took a deep breath and stepped through the door...

...just to have it close itself behind the group. Naturally, her immediate reaction was to instantly enter panic mode. She rushed back to the door in a desperate attempt to open it back up, as if having the escape route available would comfort her somewhat...

...yet the door wouldn't budge, causing the small fox's breathing to quickly escalate in pace. OH NO THERE ARE ACTUALLY GHOSTS IM GOING TO DIE IN HERE WHY DID I CHOOSE TO DO THIS IM SUCH AN IDIOT-

Her attention would slowly shift to the companions she had entered with, already preparing to tackle whatever dangers may lay ahead. The words of the others seemed to comfort her enough to get her into a state where she could speak again...

Remember, be brave... That's why you're here...

"I... I can heal any of you if you get hurt. Otherwise... I'll t-try to keep an eye out..."

Sakura, from the comfort of being close to the others, slowly scanned the area. Anything potentially unusual, out-of-place... she was trying to notice anything. It's harder to get scared by something if you notice it before it notices you...

Despite the group's apprehension, the thick atmosphere of dread did not leave the area. Despite the group's poking and prodding, nothing had actually changed. There was nothing inside the grandfather clock inspected by @Wisp but a musty smell of old, rotten wood. Given the smell, it was hard to believe that this clock still worked, if it was so old that it rotted away before her.

The area they were in seemed to lead into a couple of different areas: A kitchen, partially obscured by a door that was falling off the hinges; a living area that seemed to contain furniture that was barely held together by the moldy cloth that covered it; and some stairs leading up to a second story, of which only inky blackness could be seen. The barn didn't seem that large from the outside, yet there was plenty of space to move around in.

Nothing in this area seemed like it hadn't been here, rotting away, for at least a decade. There shouldn't be a soul here, though one would imagine the people running the show would be here. The group would feel eyes upon them, but if they looked, there would be nobody but each other to find. Now that the clock had stopped chiming, it was incredibly silent save for their own voices. The idle creaking of the barn settling could be heard occasionally, but no other sounds emerged from the dim area around them.
