Artisan's Den
With the events of Dragonfall devastating Vintergard, the Artisan's Den turned out to be the solution for many artisans who had lost their workshops. Occupying the Great Hall of an abandoned Manor and acting similarly to a guild, the Artisan's Den holds the business of many craftsmen and providers, where they sell their services and work together to grow every day.
The Artisan's Den is particularly busier after large-scale raids occur when travelers from all parts of the world bring their rare materials, hoping to craft the most unique and powerful artifacts Terrasphere will ever witness, without bearing the limitations caused by particular taboos only Lander's cities mind of.
Finweald Funicular
As former Vintergardians settled among the hills of Finweald, a desire for an easier way to traverse its steep pathways emerged. Thus the Finweald funicular was born, a cable railway built as a proof-of-concept for a future public transportation system. The two carriages are linked by a cable and powered by a magitech motor that hauls one carriage or the other up the hill, allowing the other to descend.
Unfortunately a lack of funding. mechanical issues, and complaints about the noise meant that no further funiculars were built, leaving the original as a novelty and an example of what might have been.
Mudwaters Lost & Found
Hidden behind some crates, in one of the more shadier alleys of Finwaeld, lies a well-hidden secret entry to a very special kind of establishment. That is, once a Starcalled can get past the pungent smell from the sewer access, and deceiving interior warehouse look inhabited by seemingly homeless people.
The Mudwaters Lost & Found. Didn't steal an item from a boss? Forgot to pocket that last rare drop? Overweight and had to empty your inventory? Forgot that one loot chest? Sold a rare artifact to a merchant? No problem, we got you covered.
All that, and more, right at your very fingertips. For the right price, of course.
Risykano Hallowed Obelisk
In a field of ruins just outside of Finweald, a marked, mossy path leads to a lone Obelisk on a hill. The pointed top has been cut at an angle - likely due to age - and lays a few feet from the structure itself. The base is a marble and stone pedestal, square with a grey inset face. That face is a plaque of sorts, with words of an ancient and foreign language carved into it. The only discernible of which is seven lines down; "Life-blood" it says. People say spirits and phantoms of men in fancy hats can be seen beckoning passerby to come closer, to tell their story.
Permafrost Pool
A large lake of pure and magical water that seems to stay frozen even in the warmer days of summer. Its surface is a flat and perfect circle, giving it a "Wonder of the World" sort of reception. Some scholars theorize that the spectacle was the work of ancient fae magics, as eternal winter has always been a present perspective of calamity, while others suggest that perhaps it was the work of powerful Starcalled who simply wanted to mess with people. For the most part though, people just see it and feel the urge to go ice skating.
Foreign 'Ticket' Tent
A massive, bright yellow and blue-streaked tent sits lazily on a bustling street-corner. Inside, a group of well-dressed merchants are advertising a foreign sporting event. Bearing the insignia of Endra's Favour, several are vending exorbitantly priced vellum scrolls while others loudly proclaim that they are selling 'tickets'.
They gladly provide information to anyone who questions their product further. These 'tickets' entitle buyers to attending what they call the 'Falderen Knights' Clash Tournai', as well as a plot of event campground land. Though business is not great, they persistently hawk the street day in and day out.; someone must have made a big investment.
Daorie's Operatives
A small craftsman's shop that doubles as a "quest hall", where individuals can have their desired outlandish and/or abnormal crafts completed at a relative cost. The shop itself gives off the vibe of something common, with an outlandish feeling (sure, it looks normal, but there's a feel to it that seems fun, or perhaps dangerous?).
Here, you won't find the common creations of wagon wheels, scythes or common farm tools. Here, you find the outlandishly crafted auto-scythe - a piece that fires a large blade across a straight arc, making farming a breeze!...mostly. (Just watch out for John in the field!).
The Glassway
One bazaar in Finweald is a sight to behold. Countless stalls and shops line the multilevel street, covered by a canopy of colorful fabric, strung between buildings, goods laid out on stairs, hoping to be purchased. Lanterns made of colored glass and jewels dangle above you, strung near the cloth covering the walkway to light the street for you. The official road name is Otterbranch Road, but locals simply call it the Glassway.
Anything can be found here on the Glassway, at any time you might think of, you just need to know which shop has what, and if it's on the surface, or right under your feet.
Fairway Athenaeum
A massive building, sporting a glass-dome roof, the Fairway Athenaeum is closer to a museum than a library. Built around a massive, millennium old oak tree which dominates the atrium, the Athenaeum is filled to the brim with books, written both by Landers and Starcalled Traveler alike.
The contents of these books varies widely, but the imaginative are sure to find many an enthralling tale, while the studious are sure to discover many a knowledge filled tome. For those who gain the favor of the Atheauem's caretakers, the basement levels hide away artifacts of varying importance, kept protected, cloistered away from those who might steal them for their own devices.
Adventurous Smithy
Originally a small business, The Adventurous Smithy rapidly expanded once the city received an influx of survivors from Vintergard with the owner taking in a UI-locked Traveler who knew a thing or two about modern metallurgy. Combining science with magic and ingenuity, The Adventurous Smithy has now become a hub for both smiths and adventurers. The blacksmiths here are always willing to take on a challenge, although the customer will have to provide any unusual materials.
Nomisma Resort and Casino
An exclusive casino resort on one of the highest hills of Finweald on the outskirts of town. Due to the steep entrance fee, the venue is typically the playground of foreign nobles and the nouveau riche. A lot of "dealings" are said to happen in this den of excitement but speaking of such matters in public is an embarrassing faux pas. A lobbyer's paradise, it maintains a tolerable reputation due to employing the local populace.
Following the "Great Astorean Tragedy" a lot of money poured in from Falderen through Endra's Favor as a proxy to help with the relief effort. This house of influence is one result of the "efforts".
Starfall Dance Club
Created by a Starcalled DJ, They strove to bring as many club hits to Terrasphere with a mix of magitech and Harmonics. Using magitech, the club has managed to harness an atmosphere similar to clubs in vibrant metropolises IRL. During the events of the Civil War, DJ Starspark ended up UI locked and has spent the last four years creating a series of unique tracks and creating his own brand of Terra Electronica. Now that travelers have returned to the world, it is one of the more popular parts of Finnwield's bustling night life featuring some of the best craft cocktails and unique music. Great for blowing off steam.
Waywalker's Inn
Among restoration of the capital, WayWalker's Inn supplies a healthy flow of coin. Constructed through community efforts, it serves as a location for Finwealdans to come together, and attracts Travelers with home-cooked meals, quaint cottagecore comfort, and live music to dance to every night. Passerby's whisper of the magical energy surrounding WayWalker's Inn: energies that provide protection, enable well-rested sleep, and encourage a sense of joy within guests. From the streets, the brick inn blends in seamlessly with adjacent buildings.
Other than the wooden sign above the entrance, travelers are beckoned by an enticing aura, and the smell of fresh-baked goods wafting throughout the air.
Adventurer's Guild Headquarters
A three-story square building serves as the headquarters for the Adventurer's Guild. Inside of the building you can find the Guild Master's room; along with various important figures that are in the guild. This facility has more perks for members of the guild than most other Adventurer's Guild buildings. It contains well-stocked libraries, state-of-the-art workshops, training rooms, inn rooms and even a stocked bar-like tavern room.
This building contains a hall of memories, where the entire history of the guild is listed out for all to read. There is also a insanely full, and large board for many Adventurer's to take on jobs and requests from.
The Sad Bowl Bar
The Sad Bowl Bar was founded by a wandering, misplaced Lander with a love of feeding people delicious, interesting food. The owner is known to travel the lands for interesting ingredients and, as such, the menu regularly changes with specials as unique as the travelers that call this tavern their ironically named "happy place". With helpings as tall as the arches of the city it dwells in, The Sad Bowl Bar caters to all levels of appetites. No matter your size, species, or special feeding needs, you're sure to find an exceptional, albeit curious, meal and ale here- and maybe even a new friend to battle the loneliness of travelling!
Aschenbaug's Coma Salon
Take a seat with a bag of GP, write a note with the services you want, log off, log back in later, exit your storage pod and you're done! Easy as that! Though maybe not so easy for those running the business. Haircuts, shaves, showers, facials, mani-pedis, magia recharges, the logistical nightmare of shipping hundreds of snoring bodies to their appropriate stations: any number of jobs are available for quick GP.
If maintenance isn't your thing, sign up as a bodyguard. Someone's gotta make sure no one snatches up all those bodies.
Manager Aschenbaug has yet to explain the strange logo, though…
Lingua Terra
A school of languages made to cater specifically to players. No judgement, just pay the fees and choose between scheduled group classes or one on one for those with special or unstable schedules. A must-visit for any player intending to hit up territories of non-human races... or those who need to rid themselves of the humiliation of not knowing their own race's language.
Finweald Public Transit System
As the displaced peoples of Vintergard adjusted to life in Finweald, their influence also spread. One problem they needed to address was the varying elevations of the city, and how difficult to traverse the stairs were. In Winter, that difficulty became actual danger as it claimed the lives of drunken visitors. With the oversight of MIT and the combined effort of the Guilds, they engineered a series of lifts and pulleys that connected various parts of the city, operating off water and wind power.
Several points strategically placed around Finweald serve as hubs for boarding and disembarking. Their operation is an important public service, which also created jobs for citizens.
White Stag Gardens
Located a short distance away from Folkstreet Market is a small plot of land carefully maintained and nurtured, an abundant variety of flora available for the enjoyment of weary citizens and visitors alike as the gardens offer a natural respite for those seeking to unwind and relax. There's an elevated section that guests can reach through a naturally winding path, the sides peppered with paper birch trees of varying age and sizes and native floral bushes.
During winter, when the leaves detach from the elongated branches, these trees resemble white antlers stretching high into the sky—it is this striking view that inspired this location's name, the White Stag Gardens.
Stageless Play's Stone
An altar lies in the western district of Finweald, just a simple block of stone with a cloth banner laid atop it, not a single God with a name to its' construction. It's said that, at times, a pair of manuscripts will find their way onto this altar. Should a pair come across them and act as the manuscripts desire, the pair of people shall find eternal happiness together-so the legend goes. Could a simple day of roleplaying really bring a pair of people true happiness? The people of Finweald seem to think so.
Garden of the Founders
At the center of Finweald lies a magnificent garden. Here one can find four statues encircling a single central monument. Each statue is of the original Faction Leaders that had been behind the forming of Astorea in one way or another.
Aaron Steel, Jack Anders, and Merkaba all facing each other, with the final statue being Astor Balthus the first King of Astorea. At the base of each is a single descriptive word. Finally, at the center of the garden stands a single statue of a featureless figure. No one knows who this represents, nor who added it. However, no one has ever decided to take it down.
