Attia nodded silently, her gaze lingering on his face for a moment before she let it fall to the campfire. She pulled her knees up to her chest and hugged them, resting her chin between her knees and staring unblinkingly at the hypnotic blaze. She wondered who would miss her if anything happened. She had thrown away her abusive family and hadn't made any meaningful connections in the real world. She had employees and contacts to help her manage her money, but that wasn't the same and she knew it. She squeezed her legs a little tighter.

She glanced up at him when he suggested they watch one another's backs. "I'll hold you to that," She said dryly, a cocky smile on her face. She pulled up her menu and shot him a friend request. "Here, I wouldn't mind teaming up with you again in the future, though you'll forgive me if it takes a little while to catch up. I'm not exactly a ranker."

She glanced back at the blaze as he questioned the nature of the ui-locked people. What exactly were they? Was this version of 'her' simply a collection of data that would be transferred back to her body once she logged out? Or was she getting the information live? How did it all work? She knew that some people out there might say that she was having pointless and pedantic philosophical questions, but they had weight. What did it mean to live in Terrasphere?

"...you're right. I kind of pity them," She said softly, squeezing her legs a bit tighter.

"You sure can do, buddy!" Hanno said with a gentle grin. "Don't abuse it though. Some people go way too far from the tank when shit goes south." He said, mostly in a jestful tone before his eyes met the friendship request, bringing a smile to his lips as he pressed his finger on the approval.

Notice

Hanno Futaba has accepted your friendship request.

"No need to rush to catch up anyway. I'd rather you to take your time and find you in one piece by the end of it." Hanno said with a firm nod.

Soon, however, he noticed her gaze lingering on the flames, and the pensive expression she carried on her face and eyes, followed by a statement that, despite everything that was talked until that moment trying to hint that the direst aspecs of the game wouldn't be a concern, it did held some importance. Or maybe even some worry.

Sliding his hands into his backpack, Hanno soon unloaded some ingredients, such as potatoes and jerky, before standing and huffing.

"Well, after nearly dying to wolves, I think we deserve some good meal. And I will tell ya, I know a thing or two about cooking. I am a chef, after all." He winked, getting things ready near the flames and preparing a pot. There was a lot of other things he wanted to talk to her, especially if she really intended to keep playing the game.

Knowledge was the difference between life and death there. But also, keeping a stomach warm and filled helped to digest information along.
