@Lucille Fer certainly has an interesting pride, Magnolia thought. The way she spoke about herself was intriguing, and very ferocious in a way. "I see. As expected, lady Lucille, I'm not understanding you because you are speaking non-sense, but rather because you have an intellect that beyond anything I could grasp." She kept her torch raised, bathing their path with warmth and light, and honestly being the only source of it.

Her face then turned back, locking her eyes on Lucille's for a moment.

"Lady Lucille, your concern for the well being of my clothes is heart melting and charming, but I can ensure you that my task unfortunately involves risking them... I have to make sure your mission is being accomplished, and to assist you on anything you may need." She explained politely, but soon her words were interrupted by what it seemed to be the blur of a silhouette moving rapidly through the darkness.

That was what forced Magnolia to halt, and to even take a step back, even if it made her accidentally bump on the wolf girl.

The maid's gaze hardened, even if her expressions remained unchanged. She thrusted her torch forward, expanding the reach of the torch... But there was nothing there anymore.

Lucille very much liked to hear the acknowledgment of her greatness, so she nodded along with the words and hummed to herself in satisfaction.

"Mhm, mhm~"

The fact that the maid had to be present for all of this was somewhat annoying, but at least that also meant she would be there to witness the wolf's greatness once she would inevitably take their prey down with little effort and ensure their absolute victory. Granted, she barely even remembered what it was that they were supposed to be hunting down here, but that hardly mattered. If it was a beast that made its way home in a place this smelly, then killing it would probably be a form of mercy.

"Well, whatever. Just make sure you don't get yourself hurt, or I would have to be the one to drag you out of here."

Almost just as she had finished her warning, the maid had stopped, causing Lucille to just barely stop in time before their bodies collided. Instead, she leaned to the side and cocked her head as she observed the spot at which Magnolia was aiming with her torch.

"It wasn't a ghost we were chasing, right?"

Magnolia's eyes quivered watching the lack of... Whatever that was that silhouette. However, as @Lucille Fer's words reached her ears, she took a deep breath, tilting her head to look at her from a side glance. "You are worrying for my well being as well, lady Lucille? I'm truly grateful for how gracious you are." Her eyes then returned to the empty spot, shifting the position of her torch to try and spot whatever it was... But to no avail.

"As far as I know... No." Magnolia took another couple steps forward, trying to find a deeper path into the sewers. "Master Trevor knows how to choose the solution to a problem, and he would've reserved a ghost to someone with more... Divine powers within them." She explained.

That girl exhaled forbidden magic, so she certainly didn't fit the bill.

Those thoughts and a lingering mildless walking eventually led to a more open space, a 'crossroads' of the maze-like tunnels the sewers offered. "Hmm..." As Magnolia sought for any hint to see which path they would take- Only someone with a bit more of attention would realize the silhouette that was perfectly still right above the duo...

... And when one least expected--

PwbL5WN.png

"SHIRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEK-!"

Magnolia gasp and faltered at the sudden scream, followed by a body slam coming from upwards, and having a creature rolling along with the maid while her torch rolled away from her hand, staying by the edge of the platform and barely balancing on it, fated to fall into the water of the sewer at any moment if not picked up.

The creature, with shallow fur, skull-like head, and long limbs, roared and forced its weight on the maid while she was prone, using an arm to shield her face and try to parry the blows the creature swang at her with full force, only pressuring her against the hard floor of the sewer.

"I don't think I did--"

Before she could even question how Magnolia concluded that Lucille was doing her best to care for the maid's well-being. Alas, she was clearly more interested in chasing the ghost instead of paying attention to the very real and mighty Wolf that was right next to her. As they started moving again, Lucille rolled her eyes as they continued on. She also highly doubted that this Trevor even really knew what was down here. He didn't specify, did he? Or maybe he did and she just forgot...

Thankfully she was reminded shortly after, when the monster revealed itself. How did it manage to sneak up on the two of them, she wasn't entirely sure, but it somehow did. And, for some reason, it decided that it wanted to gobble the maid up, even though she was clearly little more than just skin and bones, the poor lass. This Trevor probably didn't even feed her cake on the daily, the bastard. That aside, as soon as those two came to a bit of a halt, Lucille didn't hesitate any further.

"Face ME, you coward!!"

The idea that the enemy she was here to slay chose someone else as a more worthwhile opponent was rather infuriating to her, so she rushed ahead toward the barely illuminated duo and in her typical fashion, tried to drive up her claw into the thing's side, roughly where its ribcage would be... if it had one.

"SHREEEEEEE-!"

The creature howled when @Lucille Fer's claws sank deep to its side, and it turned around already sweeping with its own claws and pouncing at the beastfolk, giving a moment of relief to Magnolia, that coughed and struggled as she reached her hand toward the fallen torch before it fell into the water.

Snatching the only source of light they had, Magnolia rose it while still on the floor to help the wolf girl to have at least a sight of the creature's silhouette, and mustering strength, the maid got back to her feet, gritting her teeth as the wounds on the arm she used to protect her face spilled blood, and as expected, part of her dress was ruined now.

A combat of pure ferocity was unfolding in front of the maid, but she didn't just stand back, knowing how ferocious that creature was, even if her savior could manage to bring it down, she would certainly be severely wounded out of this combat.

With a merciless thrust, Magnolia waited for the gap to shove the burning torch against the creature's side, right where Lucille had clawed a large wound. The fire sank deep into the creature, tha widened its crimson eyes and thrashed in retaliation and slammed the back of its arm against Magnolia's face, making her stumble, but clench her feet against the ground to not fall- At the very least, she hoped that had given an opening for Lucille to throw another attack.

(You can control the beast too)

Lucille often had more luck than sense, and it seemed that this whole situation was no different. The way she had positioned herself, embedding her left claw inside of the create, had left her practically defenseless to any retaliation. But with an apparent lack of intellect, the creature merely wanted to lash back instead of analytically looking for weaknesses. As such, only the back of its limb aimed at the wolf, who just barely blocked with her other hand. Still, she was sent back, staggering and stopping herself back, falling on all fours and embedding her claws in the damp floor.

'How the hell is it still alive after my attack?!' The thought and befuddlement were brief as Magnolia managed to burn the beast with her torch, once again sending it into a reeling frenzy of agony. With an opening like that, Lucille decided to do as Lucille does. Charging ahead and baring her fangs, lunging and trying to bite into the beast's neck, wholly expecting herself to have enough strength to tear it open.

The creature gurgled lowly as it struggled with @Lucille Fer's fangs sinking deep into its neck, thrashing around and trying to slam its body against the walls to try and get rid of the wolf girl that didn't seem to let go of it no matter what happened. The sound of ripping flesh was inevitable, which only made it grow angrier and more agitated, until a chunk of flesh was torn away from it, letting a splash of blood that escaped from the wound relentlessly while the creature stumbled and continued to struggle using the last of its energies.

Magnolia, recovering from the slam on her face that left a trail of blood running down her nostrils, turned to look at the situation that was rollercoasting between 'out of control' and 'under control'- But if anything, her concern was mostly set on the wolf girl, that was stuck with a creature that even if at the death's door, was going berserk.

"Lady Lucille, let it go, it is a goner-" She called, unsure if she would be able to hear her under so much roaring and crashing echoing in the tunnels, rushing toward the creature and the wolf girl, as it started nearing the waters of the sewer.

The wolf girl wasn't quite as relentless as she appeared to be. She sunk her teeth deep into the beast and tried to tear out one chunk of flesh after another, but that didn't quite go as she hoped it would. It went fine once, but on the second attempt, even as the bloody splatter painted her face red, she could not pull away after her fangs locked themselves in place. The beast's hardened muscle, the tough fur, maybe a bit of bone... it all simply made her stuck.

It was gross, and with how wildly it was flailing, it was bound to hit Lucille at least a few times. Each time, it made her wince, tears forming as she tried to pull away, but only serving to make the both of them stumble toward the stone-covered edge of the platform they were fighting on. At least her back was turned toward Magnolia, not betraying any potential pathetic looks she might have been sporting. And, as gross as this whole thing already was, it was about to get a whole lot grosser as they tipped over the edge and were quickly sent into the filthy sewer water.

Not seeming to let it go, Magnolia forced her pace further toward @Lucille Fer, leaping toward her in a crude movement that wasn't usual of the maid. She embraced the wolf girl, trying to use her own body weight and levering it to pull the girl away-

But the grip seemed strong, making Magnolia slide while she tried to clench her feet on the ground. "Let it go!" Even with her usual calm voice, Magnolia's tone rose, and as the creature was about to fall into the water, the flesh finally ripped away from the body, releasing Lucille-

Yet, the momentum was already doing its job, and the two girls were sent straight to the sewer water.

Magnolia gasped, clenching her mouth shut and holding her breath a second before she was engulfed by the smelliest water she could imagine. Her lips twisted, and she resurfaced her face as soon as possible, pulling Lucille up as well, and grasping the edge of the side platforms of the sewer, trying to pull herself up, while the creature was taken away by the running water, now tained with red along with the green-ish brown tone it had.

"... Damned beast..." Magnolia coughed, breathing heavily as the water stung the wounds she had, throwing herself on the platform and laying on her back, with her chest heaving at every tired breath she could manage.

Magnolia was saved by her quick thinking and good reflexes. And while Lucille might have had the reflexes to match, her head was as empty as the void of space, eyes wide open as the water's surface drew closer and bloodied mouth open and primed for a scream. But it never got the chance to, as the both of them submerged and quickly separated from each other, as well as from the monster.

In the brief few moments that they were underwater, the wolf managed to choke on plenty of the sewer water before she managed to regain any semblance of balance and get herself back above the surface. And once she did, her eyes briefly moved to Magnolia, already atop the platform.

"I- HJHDSGKJHSGHHGHHHHHmmmm"

Quickly turning away from the maid, the wolf girl, well... emptied the content of her stomach into the water, a wonderful censor of a bright and sparkling rainbow briefly illuminating the dark and damp underground chamber. All accompanied by the wonderful sounds one would expect for such a situation, of course. At least it didn't last very long, making Lucille stumble backward in the filled channel until her back hit the wall, slightly slumping, but thankfully not enough for her head to submerge again.

"Damn it all..."

"We will truly need a bath."

Magnolia's eyelid quickly quivered at @Lucille Fer's harsh reaction, with her falling into the filled channel and nearly going face first to the water again.

Soon, the maid approached her carefully, offering a hand. "Lady Lucille, you may not stay any longer in such an insalubrious place. Leave this water and let's return to the estate." She recommended, seeing the conditions the two of them were... And honestly how smelly it all was.

Whether the other would take Magnolia's help or not, the maid would patiently wait until she was back to her feet and remotely stable, circling her and making sure to check every wound and every spot of her skin, only halting when she was done.

"Hmmm... We must hurry and treat these wounds. With this water, a terrible infection is imminent." She voiced her concern, even if her tone wasn't exactly inclined to any particular emotion this time, now that things had finally calmed down enough for her to keep a facade.

Eventually, and with a bit of effort, Lucille managed to claw her way back from the river of filth, even without anyone's help. Her pride did not allow her to stay down, either. With shaky legs and the feeling of disgust and weakness penetrating her entire being, she stood up and tried to compose herself... which was rather difficult, given that she was hurting all over. She would never admit as much, however. So when Magnolia mentioned injuries, she tried to play tough.

"What wounds? I have no idea what you're talking about because the only wounds that were inflicted came from me! I tore the beast apart with my might, it was easy and quick, haha!"

Trying to assume a more courageous position with her hands resting at her hips, the wolf winced in pain a few times, desperately trying to hold back tears. She could think of only one thing - how to get out of this as quickly as possible to ensure that the maid would not see anything slip past the heroic facade.

Magnolia's muscles softened at the bravado of the girl. She was truly a stupid one, but if anything, she was very strong and brave. It wasn't hard for her to know she was in pain, especially since her feelings were very clear to Magnolia's elven radar of emotions.

"I see. You are so strong that you can't feel the damage you have suffered. You are truly impressive, lady Lucille." Magnolia said, looking at her bravado once again, and nodding. "And is my hero too, as you have protected me with all your strength. I can only be thankful." She offered a curtsy, and then a hand.

"But we truly must go and tend your wounds. I am worried about you, and I must pay back for you keeping me safe... And Master Trevor must pay you for your heroic deeds." She reminded, while using some of her Painbearing ability, to take some of the constant pain from @Lucille Fer to herself. Her eyes brimmed for a moment, and quivered slightly at the sudden pain that stung across her body.

If anything, she could legitimate admire the capacitiy of this girl to stand firm despite all this pain.

While Lucille might have been in a decent amount of pain, it was not something that the average person would find unbearable. The main problem was that the girl's tolerance toward pain was simply well below average. Perhaps it was due to her heavily sheltered life outside of the game, or perhaps it was just strange genetics or weak will... either way, she did her best to stand defiant.

"A-as I said, I have not sustained any major injuries against such a weak foe! No way I would ever, even if it ambushed me and there were another 10 of them!"

Still, she was glad that the pain was beginning to lessen afterward, wholly unaware of the fact that this was Magnolia's doing.

"B-but I do obviously deserve a reward, so we can get going, yes!"

She, too, was happy to leave this God-forsaken place behind. Sewers clearly were not made to be occupied by life in any regard. Even if it was dark here, as she wanted it to be, just about everything else sucked. Even that fancy mansion seemed magnificent in comparison, despite being something that Lucille could never see herself occupying for any period of time.

"Of course, lady Lucille." Magnolia nodded to @Lucille Fer, trying to not push the topic further, as it was clearly embarrassing the young woman. With her ready to leave that stinking place, Magnolia tried to rush them out of there, as even the maid, despite her deadpaness, wasn't enduring that terrible smell for any longer.

"Perfect, lady Lucille. Let's go take care of ourselves and collect your reward." She bowed, guiding the beastfolk woman out of there.

Thankfully, being night, they didn't receive any weird looks for looking like a mess and smelling even worse, but they did receive some glances from the other maids as they approached the estate.

After a good bath and tending the wounds, Lucille was offered an artifact from Trevor's treasure, and was invited to be a special guest and stay the night and have some dinner as well, to recompose her energies before she could go for another adventure.
