It's been a weird life finding out that the crazy rituals were pointless, and that the cult was only organized to funnel the earnings of lower followers to the top to live a lavish lifestyle, but he's grown up to be a somewhat normalized adult in real life. He loves to play pranks and blatant lies about things.
He pretends to act in the world that he is a cultist of the flame. Many of the lore he spews from his mouth is on the fly and that the doctrine is made as it and many of the words he states as the will of the flame will contradict itself.

Tommy Banks grew up in the Cult of Flame as a child where followers practiced many ritual activities that prophesized the end of the world due to raging flames in 2020. Task included drinking the water that was boiled by the "Flame of Origin", the first flame that was found by man. Caring for the flame. Fueling the flame by feeding it. Being burned just a bit by the Flame was told by the cultist that you were supposed to be protected when the flames would end the Earth. The list can go on and on to this crazy to-do list.
The Cult of Flames was raided in 2018 by the government and was abolished but many of the believers still thought the world was going to end in 2020. It did not. It even turned out that the origin of the "Flame of Origin" was not that it was the first flame founded by man, but instead it was from "America's Safest and Longest-Lasting Lighter"
A lot of the children from the Cult of the Flame keep up with each other in a group chat where they will introduce hobbies to another and one day Tommy saw that one of the members sent a message about Terrasphere. A VRMMO where in a fantasy setting. Some joked that if they had spooky flame powers in the game. Others inquired and were curious and Tommy was one of them.
