Personality
If Kyou had to express the relationship between himself and the world in a single word, it would be 'rejection'. He has an understandably grim outlook on life, and clinging desperately to his vindictiveness is all that got him through sometimes.
He would hardly admit it, but one of his least favourite feelings is isolation. The desolation of being ignored, overlooked with indifference, cast aside as if he were trash is something he simply cannot stand. Thus, he has a tendency to provoke – at least that way, he is noticed.
In aid of standing out, he's crafted a confident, even grandiose persona – Shinji in Terrasphere. Aside from being more self-assured and outspoken, he is quite true to his character. However, some of his innate qualities that haven't had the chance to be expressed much previously, such as his enthusiasm, wonder, and flair for the dramatics, are now more pronounced. He is also more direct and outward in his negativity; he can be critical, abrasive, or darkly humorous.
Though he believes he doesn't particularly like people, he is much more willing to socialize and cooperate with others, perhaps because of an underlying assumption that in Terrasphere, people are more receptive to that. He is willing to help others, maybe even likes to do so – granted, he does frame it as a way of being superior to those weak enough to need help.
Positive: Imaginative, Passionate, Clever
Negative: Cynical, Apathetic, Guarded

Amisaki Kyou. Sole child of an overly materialistic couple. A businessman dabbling in embezzlement. A pharmacist with a penchant for 'procuring' restricted substances.
While the couple was initially quite loving and supportive, things eventually turned sour. If at first, they hedonistically celebrated each other's successes, the first failing of some severity burned away any trust and fondness existent between them. Resentment bred. Blame was constantly shifted onto the other. The criticism was endless, quarrels ensued daily.
When they weren't at each other's throats, there was Kyou. At the very worst of times, he was treated as their 'mistake'. But were the times that approached normality, where he was cared for and shown affection, any better? No. It might have taken him a while, but Kyou realized those experiences made everything hurt that much more. They were all bound to each other by some twisted, possessive love; chains of their own making.
Perhaps, if he'd been able to retain some small hope that things would get better, that anything could change…But it was not to be. Because –
"Sorry, I don't think we can be friends anymore…"
"…reports of delinquency…"
"Ah, him. Don't even bother trying."
"Tch. Hey, let's move on, it's no fun now that it's stopped struggling."
"Pathetic."
"Here again? Just what did you do this time?"
"…issues with your family background…"
"Ungrateful little…"
"Oh, look what you've made me do now. Why are you always like this?"
"If only you hadn't been born."
– because he determined it was best to ruthlessly suppress all of his futile wishes. There was no point to any of it.
Sometime after beginning to make plans about how and when to end it all, he happened upon a certain rumour regarding Terrasphere. Up until then, he couldn't have cared less about the game. Intriguingly, it was said that people had died while playing. That some of them still existed within the game world.
Though Kyou got deep into researching the topic, in the end, there was no way to know. However, since he had already decided on a course of action, there was no reason not to try his idea out. After all…might as well try carving a path into the "after" life if he was cutting this one short.
Kyou knew where his mother kept those sleeping pills. He knew where his father stashed the alcohol. It had taken planning, and preparation, but finally, finally, everything was ready. He put on the VR. Took the pills. Trembling fingers booted up Terrasphere, and he logged into his recently created character.
And then…
Then, he was freed from one world.

Flowers are beautiful as they are terrifying. There's something haunting about how flowers operate, ever silent but communicative, and how they are endlessly geometrical as though they were designed for a purpose. What purpose might they have? You'll have to ponder about such thoughts from a distance away.
When lightning races across the sky, followed by Thor beating his drum from the horizon, unease wells up within you. You may be aware but helpless to the feeling that the horrifying sight and sound of the naturally occurring phenomenon is the God of Thunder riding to deliver your punishment for a crime you may or may not have committed.
When you find yourself alone in complete darkness without a single light source, your heart will beat to the sound of the reaper's footsteps, for he operates in complete darkness. Pray that you never end up where the reaper can find you.
