Personality
Ran is a mixed bag, unlikely to offer the same reply to any two people. A Moon Fang of muted colors spare her stark yellow eyes, Ran is an exile that travels the world, seeing no benefit to locking herself in one place and having the strength to make it happen—perhaps 'exile' is a bold word, for one who by force removed themselves from their tribe. But it tells exactly what kind of person, Ran has become.
One does not simply, tell Ran "no". She will do as she pleases or be made to stop, as her kind is wont to do. Strength dictates who is correct. But—Ran, for a Moon Fang, is rather diplomatic. Diplomatic in the sense that she isn't liable to drop the gloves because someone looked at her funny. Not until after she looses a few scathing words, at least. Because, hypothetically speaking, a fight won't break out of she reduces a potential offender to a sobbing or frightened mess. And that is far more diplomatic, than losing a few teeth.
Ran is of a simple nature, in totality. Despite her penchant for mood swings or sudden, abrupt hostility—there is a firm loyalty to those who garner her respect, and an interest in exploring the world far outside the Hylands. A journey she has made, that tells of her will. Those she cares for, are protected with fierce fervor.
Or, rather, that's the idea.
Ran, to be truthful, doesn't care about other people very much. There are those who earn her arm with blood and tears, and there are those she plays nice with. Because the Caenis is very, very, far from a brute. The deathly precision of her daggers is mirrored in her mind—people are tools with which to get what she wants. Be that by her heart's true loyalty, an unequivocally true bond—
—or by those who have the ability to get her what she wants.
Ran is a people-pleaser. A pawn-maker. There are those who mean something to her. And there are those who are a means to an end.
Positive: Straightforward, excitable, arguably friendly, loyal
Negative: Impatient, unempathetic, anxious, manipulative
Background
A completely normal girl with no outstanding qualities.
Ren, as she is more commonly referred to by virtue of her birth in England, is a passive individual. She does nothing extraordinary, has a standard education, and generally straight-line life. Her family immigrated from Japan two generations back, and while she retains some of the culture, her life is definitively English. Definitively, normal.
Ren took the route of gymnastics, martial arts, HEMA and self-defense—not out of concern for her safety, but out of a desire to break the norm. A desire to find anything but the blatant monotony she found was her life. She went to school—for what? She didn't really know. Maybe she'd do business or something. She was alright with numbers. But she didn't feel it. A tug, towards anything. The only thing she enjoyed, was ignoring the world altogether, and seeing what she could find in a different one.
Terrasphere wasn't, actually, a choice she made lightly. Perhaps that was some self-aware caution she displayed, backing off from that which she knew there was no going back. A complete escapist fantasy. An outlet for stress. She conjured excuses for some time, hesitant to accept something she couldn't believe was true. And, it wasn't. Not completely, anyway.
But there was always this tug. This pull, on her strings. That drew her closer to something she knew she shouldn't have. A different, more interesting place. Something, new.
