Lucien was a bright child growing up, his parents had made sure that their son would be safe from the outside world's gross and dangerous activities, only letting him do any sort of activity that had to do with using his brains instead of his brawn. Lucien grew to be a tad smarter than most of his classmates, but he was never one to brag about his better test scores, instead keeping himself secluded in the library where he could transport himself into different worlds, created by people who longed to be in another world as he did.

As he grew older, he realized that there was more to the world than books, having been given a small laptop for school work, Lucien was given limited access to the internet, where he learned about comic books, and about games that weren't just about violence and gore. He grew to love a few of these, and indulged into them with his parents permission. Once he graduated high school, he got to work at his fathers office, but after a year or so he was not all that interested in this line of work, and against his fathers warnings, he decided to quit and take some of the money he had saved up to move across town into his own apartment, getting a job at a local coffee shop where he grew to love the aroma and taste of the flavored bean juice.

It was when he started working that he overheard one of his co-workers talking about a new game, Terrasphere. He looked into it and he realized that this was a game that he would love to play, a place where he could be someone different. Even with all the warnings, and it being illegal within the states, part of him longed to play. After a few weeks of mustering up the courage, he asked his coworker discreetly if he had a way to get the game, where him and his co-worker helped him get set up and he dived into the game.
