Personality
Nyx is a woman who, on the surface, knows what she wants. She acts confidently and surefooted even when things are going tits up. In a room full of people running around, panicking, she is grabbing a few acquaintances and hauling ass toward the nearest exit. The facade she wears is one that is unafraid and always striving to reach her goals, no matter who she steps on to get where she needs to. Some call her cutthroat, others may insinuate that she's ruthless, but she understands how the world works and doesn't want to be dragged down by hesitation. Getting in her good graces means that she'll take you along for the ride instead of leaving you in the dust and dirt.
Behind this mask, she is a woman that is always plagued with indecision. Though she may misstep and her facade stays strong thus forcing her to roll with the punches, she will think and overthink about how this specific action led to something going wrong. She's obsessed with perfection, even though, logically, she understands that it is impossible to obtain. She believes she has to put on a strong face so people like her enough to want to be around her because, otherwise, she doesn't offer anything substantial for a friendship to blossom. She is a woman who is painfully aware of her shortcomings and does everything in her power to mask them with bravado. And she is never happy enough; even when she succeeds, she wonders what she could have done to do even a fraction more, attain even a smidge more.
Positive: Direct, Observant, Proud
Negative: Blunt, Hedonistic, Sarcastic
Background
TerraSphere was the hot new shit that all of her friends were playing. And while she didn't have enough money to get her own VR headset and play with them on launch day, they pooled their resources and got her one anyway. She'd never been more thankful to them in her life.
And the game was addicting. She would call off work in order to sit down and play for hours all day, enjoying the way everything reacted to her and how much control she could exert over herself and her environment. If she could have quit her real life and played full-time while still, somehow, making money, she would have.
Her friends dropped from playing one by one. At first, it was a lack of interest and then there was something about the game being too difficult, too scary. One of her friends died in-game and they decided that that was enough for them. They weren't interested in seeing what else the game had to offer. But Nyx thought this more as a challenge than a detriment.
Until she too died in the game and found herself unable to log out.

Sadly, the ones you hold dear could not hear you over the swarm that feasted on your flesh. In a sick twist of fate, the affliction has reversed the roles. The starving legion buzzes at the back of your mind. It is most active when your emotions flair and less commonly when spellcraft of the forbidden sorts are attempted.
