Personality
Snip. Snip.
A strand of hair falls to the floor.
Snip. Snap.
A thread of fate has been undone.
Darcy is quiet. She keeps to herself in a way that does not present as shyness or a lack of social skills, but more a lack of interest, a confidence in her abilities to keep herself occupied and a dependence on no one. Independent, those around her often find themselves questioning if they actually know her, most of her social interactions being held more with a professional air than that of a casual one. Besides, she usually is doing business anyways, so why would she have any reason to be kind to them?
Morte, on the other hand, is different. Snarky and outspoken, she speaks her mind, lacing her words up in playful stabs meant to make you wonder if she's actually joking, because of course she isn't. Easy to get on her bad side, hard to get on her good side, she often finds herself both amused and annoyed with the attitude and actions of other players, willing to move on from a conversation in a moment and then back to it the next. But maybe, just maybe, under all that sharp, spikey exterior there's a diamond hidden, waiting... Well, probably not, but it's might worth a shot.
Positive: Dependable, Efficient, Dynamic, Playful
Negative: Snarky, Cold, Insensitive, Dishonest
Background
Growing up with a single mother was difficult on Darcy's upbringing. Besides often finding themselves with just enough money to get by on rent and food, there wasn't near enough extra to afford new clothes, toys, or other things that other children had easily for Darcy. And at home, she showed nothing of being affected by this. At school, however, it was much different.
Acting out. Picking fights. Pulling pranks. Darcy had little friends, and whenever she did have one, they would quickly leave. It was pulling teeth to get through school, but surprisingly she got good grades, bringing home what she could to pull at least one smile onto her mothers worn out, weathered face. In high school, it got worse. Smoking, drugs, you name it and Darcy had probably taken part in it. It was halfway through her education that her marks plummeted, and she was expelled at school for getting caught in the bathroom. Unable to meet her poor ol' mother's face, she texted her she would be staying at a friends place for a couple nights and hid away, making up a plan.
She'd always loved hair, ever since she was young. By this time she had already gone through multiple self hair cuts and dyes, getting better as she went forward. Her 'friends' often asked her to do their own, singing her sweet praises as she went. It was then she realized what she wanted to do moving forward and after a couple days of moping, headed home, ready to share the news and work it out with her mom.
Unfortunately upon arriving home, her mother was collapsed in living room, half conscious and struggling to breathe. All the stress on her life had worn down on her, and she passed away a couple months after, leaving Darcy with an empty hole in her heart and medical debt to fill the place. But she never put her head down. Infact, Darcy would never put her head down again, lifting her chin in the sky and continuing forward.
She brought her creations to life on those willing to pay, building up her social media presence while she went back and finished high school, and then moved onto college, getting a license to prove her worth. On Instagram she was a hit, providing videos of herself doing different colours and combinations. She did crossovers, helped out models, did promotions. However, not much was known about her personal life, and no one ever got to know her past their appointment. Professional and quick to the cut, she kept to herself and let no one else in. And she continued to be comfortable this way.
TerraSphere was supposed to be a fun game to play, happening upon it when an ad showed up one day of a blue girl. But the more Darcy played, the more Morte became a stress outlet, a place she could let her emotions flow. And besides, who knew video games could be so fun?
