Personality
John could be described as a strong, upright man. It's not wrong but, like John, it lacks in imagination. John is a strong, stoic fellow, he appears well-kept and seems to carry himself confidently and with a powerful presence about him. However, he lacks any sort of empathy for his common man. He would, in fact, take candy from a baby if he happened to want candy (he doesn't). John has no respect for what others wish, and shows that quite vigorously as he steals, threatens, and generally just bulls his way through life with only his own self-interests in mind.
Asserting his dominance over others is an afterthought generally, but he wouldn't say he dislikes it. He returns any slight at least two-fold and is prone to physical intimidation if he doesn't get his way. All he really seeks in life is to survive, and to be strong enough so that no one can take that away from him.
As stated before, he lacks in imagination, so he didn't even try to change himself in the game, he's just... himself.

Background
John Yun was born to a poor family of immigrants from China. Raised in a forgettable corner of New York, most of the money his parents earned was spent to keep them barely afloat and living. John learned quickly that money can't buy everything, especially when it's so much easier to steal and hurt others to get everything you want; At least, that's what his father taught him. His father wasn't abusive to John at all, but was a terrible menace to everyone who wasn't related to him. John readily absorbed this and has brought it with him to this day.
Of course, violence and bullying can only get you so far. John's father barked up a wrong tree one day and wound up dead. Perhaps unsurprisingly, John and his mother didn't feel particularly bad about it, though for different reasons. Their budget improved significantly since the majority of the money they earned wasn't going to alcohol or gambling anymore.
Still, John kept bouncing between detention centers, jail, menial labor jobs, and community service from his teens to his mid-twenties. Things calmed down a bit when he got a steady construction job and started attending martial arts classes. He never really bought into the vices his father did, but he did still like fighting. John used his new-found martial skill to enter a shady underground MMA world.
It was easy, at first. John was a natural born fighter, and had plenty of brawling experience. Learning a martial art was icing on the cake, especially since he was good at that too. This lasted for a number of years before old wounds and age started to slow him down. John put the fights on break for a few years, at least until someone he knew from the glory days clued him into a little game called Terrasphere. Real fighting, where he could fight more unrestricted than even the underground ring.
