Personality
Hyakin shows himself as a friendly, brave young man with grand aspirations and even greater love for beauty. He’s really not shy about his appreciation of the beautiful people, no matter the race or gender. Should one compliment him, he will get flustered and very happy, flushing and glowing with happiness.
He is brave youth, willing to stand between danger and other, less tanky players or landers. He styles himself as a knight from fairy-tales. As such he seems to pay a lot attention to honour and he clearly wants to gain strength and leave an impact in this world, which he will proclaim to anyone who will listen. Or not. Yet even for emulating the knights from stories, he is not a saint: if you insult him, he will insult you back, slights will not be easily forgotten or forgiven and for honourless people he will not care about honour.
What he wants to do is enjoy the world as hard as he can. Good food, good alcohol, good company will make him very happy. But he will also appreciate the wonders of Terrasphere nature, museums, the Landers arts and history. And even more so, the rush of adrenaline during fight. Hyakin is bit of a battle junkie… Especially against the weaker opponents.
While there is not that much difference between Hyakin and Hyacinth, as Hyakin merely has the means to do what Hyacinth always wanted to do and always enjoyed, there still are things that he tries to hide in Terrasphere. Like his discontent over his lot in life and real-life. Hyakin hates talking about real-life, and if someone will make inquiries, he will either pretend to not have heard it or outright tell people to shut the fuck up about it. Hyacinth is currently in a sate of personality flux, caused by the changes in his life before entering Terrasphere, mainly the definite approaching hard limit of his life. He became much more reckless and short-sighted, due to the clock ticking down for him and wanting to experience things he never got to experience in real-life.
Positive: Friendly, Brave, Curious, Adaptable, Capable, Passionate, Intelligent
Negative: Short-sighted, Insecure, Power-hungry, Self-indulgent, Discontented, Vindictive, Reckless
Background
Hyacinth is an adopted kid who does not know his true parents. He got his name from his mother, who left him on footsteps of church. Where he almost died, because he was a premature, sickly kid with plethora of health problems. A kind, elderly couple adopted him and brought him to the Netherlands, where he lived.
As he got older, his health started to fail him more and his life became fraught with dangers. He had numerous dietary restrictions, asthma, weak immune system and failing vision. But over all, it was liveable. Sure he could not enjoy many things that kids his age could enjoy, but he could live. And learn.
And his parents who in age were more like grandparents, loved him and he loved them back. And he was aware that he was lucky and he worked hard at school and brought honours and almost perfect scores.
And when he finished HAVO (highschool) and got into the HBO of his choice, the family went for vacation… Where a truck hit their car. Hyacinth’s father and Hyacinth were the only survivors, but… his father was in coma and Hyacinth himself survived with many crushed bones and his lung capacity was further reduced. He ended with permanent limp and comatose father… And so started his path towards adulthood. Tough late, he resumed his education and started to juggle problems of taxes, money and comatose father on his own. Of course there was compensation from the firm that the driver caused the accident and he got his father pension, but the money was getting tight.
Still, he persisted, even as his health started to fail more and more. He made use of VR technology to get some relief from his failing body to focus more on learning. He did manage to become a Master of Arts.
But he was lonely. His health made it hard for him to get friends and his co-workers either pitied him or thought him liability. With his health further failing, he started to work more from home.
It was then that he started to use VR even more, to read in peace, to translate in peace, to draw in peace.
Two weeks ago, he learned he had a hard limit on his life and that the doctors gave up on his father ever waking up.
His whole life had a time-limit and he could not even do the ‘bucket-list’ because most of the things he had there would kill him.
It was during that time that he got his hands on Terrasphere.
VR had been his crutch for many years now and he had heard about Terrasphere and how ‘real’ it was.
Hyacinth took the dive, wanting to live before he died, to do the things he always wanted to but never could.
