Haruka's birth name was Hayato Akimiya. He was a weak boy with a love of girlish things, but never considered himself a girl for liking them. His father, however, was a violent traditionalist- he constantly cursed at, taunted, and physically beat his son for his love of cute things and cooking. Eventually, the abuse caused irreparable damage. Hayato went into a short coma of a few days after one particularly bad beating. When he woke up, his only real memories were being teased for being like a girl, to the point he thought he was one.

Over the next few years, after moving to the countryside and away from his despicable father, Hayato remembered who he was, but still sometimes felt he was a bit more girlish than normal. He came to realize that sometimes, he wanted to be a girl- or a woman, as he got older. He still identified as a man at other times though. He eventually came out to his twin sister, who had always protected him as much as she could, and his mother, when he was eighteen as being genderfluid.

Five years later, now named Haruka legally to be able to fit either gender, he has finally come to realize he relies on his sister way too much. Looking for a game he could play on his own, he found Terrasphere- a hyper realistic game that would hopefully teach him to fend for himself. He hasn't told his sister that he plays it, or that it even exists still. He strives for freedom as a player- freedom from his sister's protective nature, and more importantly, from his own insecurities...
