Personality
Alaric is a friendly, carefree kind of guy. He follows his whims wherever they take him—currently, he wants to see the world—and is more than content to let nature run its course. He latches on whatever catches his whimsy or piques his interest. Eager to please, he is the type of person one can approach and ask for help with little to no problem; he'll say, "Yeah I can do it, no worries," with that easy grin of his, and then off he'll go. While his trusting, laidback personality may make him gullible—indeed, there are times when Alaric's trust has been taken advantage of—he rarely holds grudges, choosing instead to let things go and focus on making himself happy again.

Background
Hana doesn't like to think too much about her life. Her work can be either completely boring or a downright messy mix of boredom, then unbridled excitement, then terror; being a meteorologist just has that effect on her. Her line of work warrants a lot of her time and energy, and she only has so much to spare.
So, when work doesn't eat up most of her life, Hana indulged on playing games online. Single player RPGs tend to give her most out of that feeling of escapism, of losing herself in the fantasy of it all. In MMOs, she can at least pretend to be friendly and sociable.
She has heard of Terrasphere in random snippets of conversation and messy map chats. It caught her interest; it seemed immersive enough that she could lose herself in the fantasy for a time, though to her, it probably was not as risky as people were making it out to be! She ignored the red flags as they popped up, in that brief frantic time when she was looking for the gear to set herself up, thinking that everyone was either exaggerating or so deep into a conspiracy that's beyond her.
Imagine, then, when Hana found out for herself that the rumors did have some truth in them.
